Summary- They say true love stories never have endings. If that is true then why does it feel as if mine is coming to an end?
…
A/N- I don't know if you've guessed it yet but this fic will be sad. At least that's how I am trying to write it. Anyway the idea for this story was given by one of my best friends who unfortunately does not write fan fiction. She has an ObiRin obsession though and I, like her guardian angel, decided to write one for her.
Para if you're reading this Happy Birthdayyy! I love you soooo much. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it for you.
Now let's get on with the fic.

WARNING- Major character death.
oOoOo
Love.
Her eyes hardened taking in the flustered appearance of her lover.
That was what the two of them shared.
He fisted tufts of his own hair in his hands, letting out a growl of frustration.
She was sure of it.
She loved him, and he her. They would do, and did do anything for the other, sacrificing all selfish motives. There were no selfish motives to have when all you wanted at the end of a hard day was to simply find yourself in the other's arms. It was a level of comfort she knew they could only find in each other. Nobody else's touch, taste or even something as simple as a glance, could satisfy what either of them sought. For what they sought, they had found. In each other.
And she didn't plan on letting this slip through her fingers so easily.
No. She was going to fight for it.
She breathed out a heavy sigh. "Don't accuse me of things you have no knowledge of."
But could she really do anything when he had not chosen to do the same?
"No knowledge? You're saying I don't know what I'm talking about?" he let out a humorless chuckle.
Rin shook her head. "You don't, Obito. You really don't."
"Ha! You must think I'm blind or something!" his loud voice roared. "You think I don't notice the way he looks at you?"
"Obito! Do you even hear yourself?" her voice shouted over his. "We're talking about one of our closest friends here! Just calm down and then let's talk. Please." Despite the volume of her voice, it held a distinct tremble.
The words fell on deaf ears as he continued speaking, letting out one taunt after the other.
"The way his hand oh so innocently touches yours?" he mocked.
"Obito, you sound ridiculous." Her face contacted with disgust at the sight of her lover.
"The hugs he gives you! Don't you think they last too long to be 'just friendly' as you claim? Or are you too thick to notice?"
"Obito, it's not what you think!"
"Oh, it isn't, is it? It never is. I always am too dumb to know what is going on, aren't I? " he inhaled deeply before looking at Rin squarely in the eyes. His voice lowered. "Fine. Tell me. Tell me what happened. Tell me why I returned today morning from work to discover an empty bed and you at his place?"
The silence that followed was deafening. She felt as if she could drown in it. But every time she opened her mouth to break it, no words escaped her. She couldn't refute his claims. And she wouldn't lie. So she chose the next best thing. She remained quiet.
Obito chuckled drily. He was the one pushing, yes. But he had never believed his own statements. He had wanted for her to shout, scream, cry and prove him wrong. The last thing he had wanted was her not saying a word. He felt his shoulders sag, his heart clench painfully in his chest. For the first time he realized the reality of his own assertions. It couldn't actually be true could it?
His expression was blank but in the deep onyx eyes she could clearly see the turmoil of emotions hidden in them. It hurt her, but she knew it wasn't as much as it was hurting him.
She felt blood freeze in her veins as his low chuckles turned louder, and he threw his head back, barking out a cold laugh. "Huh, cat got your tongue? I have got to say I'm surprised. Never would have imagined the so very talkative Rin Nohara to be at a loss of words."
The words felt as if they had smacked her across the face. Obito had always called her an Uchiha. Ever since they were little kids, determined that she would marry him. She had always waved the naïve boy's thought away with a simple giggle and wave of the hand. But now that she actually was an Uchiha…
"Obito, I-I-"
The man simply shook his head, not deeming her stuttering worthy of a response.
"It i-isn't what you think it is! Kakashi and I are just friends! He's never laid a hand on me and never will!" her eyes brimmed with moisture. "I can't tell you…anything right now. B-but believe me, I really want to talk to you."
His intense gaze met hers. "Huh, you want to talk? Hm, I've heard that a lot. I bet when you're with him though, talking isn't the only thing you must be doing with your mouth-"
She slapped him. It happened too quickly for either of them to have seen it coming. But it did come. Her tan hand that she had so often rested lovingly on his cheek, was brought there again; but this time it had been meant to shut his mouth. To cause him pain.
By this fact, he was startled. But nowhere near how startled she felt.
She slapped him. For the first time in her life she slapped him. And as much as she felt he had deserved it, it broke a small piece inside of her. She knew it would be only a few minutes before she completely crumbled. It took all her effort to form a coherent thought. Her voice dropped to a decibel he would never have imagined possible, quivering as she spoke. "Get out."
He wordlessly obeyed her request.
oOoOo
Obito didn't know where to go. He mindlessly drove down the cemented streets of Konoha.
When Rin asked him to leave, he had complied without uttering a single retaliation. What he hadn't thought about, when his head was awash with anger, was where he would go after that. The house he lived in, was bought by the two of them shortly before their wedding. His old apartment had been sold in order to acquire enough money for it. But he didn't care. He was happier in the new place. More because of the comfort that Rin had provided than the actual building.
That was his home.
But now he couldn't return there. Nor could he go and get drunk with his best friend, wallowing in his sorrows like most men would do, since his best friend played a rather major role in the couple's rift. Right now he couldn't even think about the masked man without wanting to punch through a brick wall for the sheer fun of it.
A green sign board passed him, putting another thought in his head. This time however the thought lit a tiny flame of warmth inside of him. He had an idea of where he could go.
The firm tan hand on the steering wheel, rotated it in one swift movement making the car take a U-turn. He sped down the road till he spotted a familiar house with an orange roof. A small smile lit up his face as he pushed down the brake pedal, parking the old convertible in the lane.
He walked to the front porch and placed a few rapt knocks on the wooden front door.
There was no reply.
Obito frowned to himself. Were they not home? No that couldn't be quite right.
Oh wait. The backyard.
He walked to the back of the house.
Obito breathed a sigh of relief. There he was. Crouched on all fours, digging elbow-deep through the dirt, the apron tied around his waist disheveled and muddy. Obito could have laughed at the sight. But he didn't. All he said was…
"Minato-sensei."
Said blonde's head whipped around towards Obito, astonishment clearly present in the handsome features. When he realized it was none other than one of his students come to visit him, his face broke into a warm smile. Obito couldn't help the way his lips tugged upwards at the sight.
He walked over to Minato and sat on the grass next to him. He rubbed his hands together. "So…What are we digging?"
Minato threw his former student a glance before letting out a chuckle, "Naruto had his friends over yesterday. And the boys had the ingenious idea to play soccer in the backyard, which of course led to the extreme and utter destruction of Kushina's little vegetable garden."
"Oh. Oh no. poor boys. How did they ever survive her wrath?" Obito's eyes widened in mock fear.
"Oh, you should have seen them once she was done giving them a piece of her mind. It was not a pretty sight. She even somehow managed to make Uchiha boy cry."
"Ah, that's something I would have paid to watch. The so very scary Sasuke shed tears. Although, its entertaining to watch any 16 year old cry."
Minato broke into a laugh."You bet your ass it is. It's the aftermath that strikes me as awful though. Because here I am stuck fixing her garden while Naruto is hiding at Jiraiya's house. And another thing I am telling you pal, finding out that you suck at gardening right when your angry wife asks you to do it is a situation I wouldn't want to be stuck in. but. Here I am."
"Sucks to be you sensei."
"Shut your mouth and help me out Obito."
The brunette stuck his tongue out childishly yet followed through with the blonde's instructions.
A good hour had passed before the garden was anywhere close to even resembling a bit of its former self. Sighing inwardly, Minato decided it was high time the two had a small break. He didn't know about Obito but he was in dire need of one.
"You want a beer?"
Obito turned to his former teacher and blinked stupidly before giving a brief nod.
The blonde got up and went into the house with Obito in tow. They both washed off the mud from their hands and faces, dusted their clothes and Minato took off his (very manly) apron.
The brunette took a seat on one of the stools that stood near the kitchen island while Minato grabbed two bottles of Heineken. Passing one two Obito, Minato started, "So now you gonna tell about this surprise visit?"
The brunette hesitated. He knew this question would bear its ugly face and he would have no option but to spill. He didn't have much of a choice either. Apart from Kakashi, Minato was the person closest to him. He was the only one he could talk to about any of this.
"I-I think Rin is cheating on me."
He could see the surprise etched on his Sensei's face. He spoke slowly as if processing every syllable. "Rin is…cheating on you? W-with?"
"Kakashi."
If possible Minato's eyebrows shot up even further, "Rin is cheating on you…with Kakashi."
Obito simply sipped his beer in response.
"So, what you are telling me is that… the girl who literally fed you with a spoon when you broke your jaw –Your wife- is cheating on you?"
Obito nodded.
"That too with your best friend. ?"
Obito nodded again.
"Oh. Huh. Never would have expected that."
The brunette blinked, clearly expecting a better reaction from his former sensei. Minato however dumbly kept staring at nothing.
"Have you spoken to Rin about this?"
"Yup."
"…And? What did she say?"
"She kept denying it."
"And you think she's lying to you?"
"Must be."
Minato hesitated. "A-are you sure Obito? Kakashi and Rin…Neither of them seem like they would ever do such a thing. They love you too much."
Minato could have sworn he saw hurt flash through the obsidian eyes. But the emotion vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
"Minato-sensei…Yesterday I had to work till late at night. When I finally arrived home. Rin wasn't there. I called her friends, parents, anywhere I thought she might be spending the night. When I finally called Kakashi, I found out she spent the night with him. And when I asked what the two of them were doing, I got such an extremely poorly thought out excuse." A dry chuckle escaped him. "What's even better is that they both gave different excuses. Rin said that they were having a Barbie movie marathon and fell asleep halfway through. And Kakashi said that they were mourning the death of his uncle's… pet fish."
Obito shot Minato a glare when the blonde sniggered. In his defense, he couldn't help it! His students were terrible liars. Although that wasn't so terrible, he thought, he didn't want them to be good at lying.
He wiped a tear from his eye, returning his attention towards the glaring Uchiha. "I'm sorry, Obito. It's just they really suck at lying, don't they?"
The brunette rolled his eyes. "They most definitely do but their ability to lie wasn't what I came to talk to you about."
"You are right. I am sorry."
Obito gave a small nod.
"Have you spoken to Kakashi yet?"
"About this? Not yet. But I think Rin must have told him considering the 11 missed calls he left me."
"I think you should speak to him."
Obito's eyebrows furrowed. "Sensei I-I can't. I don't want to talk to either of them right now. I want to know why b-but I don't think I can talk to them immediately. "
Minato nodded understandingly. "You need space. I get that and I am pretty sure they will too."
When his student didn't respond Minato continued. "Just take some time away, 'kay? Time by yourself. I'll inform them not to…disturb you. If you want that is. And then when you are ready you can hear them out. Does that sound okay?"
Obito seemed unsure but he nodded in agreement. Some time away from all this didn't sound bad. Not bad at all. And if anybody asked… he could just say he was still mourning Kakashi's –sorry, Kakashi's uncle's- fish's death.
His thoughts were interrupted when a loud 'crash' reached his ears, followed by "Uzumaki, Get your ass back here at once! That vase used to be your grandmother's!"
Minato sighed. He was getting too used to this.
"Seems like Naruto's home."
