Chapter: 1

March 25th, 2054

The skies were red, as the red sun was shining down on earth and the air was filled with smoke from the buildings of National City that were on fire. Trees and plants withered from the lack of yellow sun. Sea life dying and popping up on the surface of their water homes. But in the deep woods just outside of her once beloved city, a woman was running. Her feet thumping against the ground.

*Thump*Thump*Thump

She was in a long black cloak with the hood up trying to run from the insurgents that were after her and shooting at her. She took a few people from their camp to help her gather food and water for their people. This woman was Kara Danvers (Leader of The Kandorian Rebel Group). She looked back and saw they were still behind her so she kept on running, adjusting the big bag she was carrying on her shoulders filled with food she had found trying to avoid bullets but not enough as she felt one go in her shoulder making her wince but kept running. She looked up and she was coming upon a tree. Big enough to hide her, so he gets behind it and leans her back up against the burnt bark and quiets her breathing and waits hoping that they would keep running past.

While waiting, she thought about the past. How she was once a beacon of hope.

Years ago, Lillian Luthor created a Solar Tower, re-creating the red sun radiation effectively turning the yellow sun red rendering Kara powerless since she's nothing but a "human". For years, Kara has been without her powers and had to learn and adapt without them. After witnessing the death of her family, everyone she ever loved by the hands of CADMUS soldiers, she ran.

Three years later, she had formed a group of rebel's that would do anything to fight for their city. Fight the CADMUS soldiers that had taken over the streets of National City.

She was brought out of her thoughts and back to the present of an explosion going off in the distance, she looked to see it was clear before she began running once again, but not before running into something making her grunt and fall on her back. She looked back to see a guy in a dark red suit as she backed up.

"Kara?" said the voice. But it was familiar to her but she can't remember where she heard it, "W...Who are you?" she said as she stood up and backed away from the stranger.

The stranger was confused before looking around him as his eyes landed on her again, "Kara, it's me Barry." said the familiar voice, just then everything came back to her, Barry Allen the speedster that once came over to her earth on accident. The Barry Allen whom she fought aliens with. She was shocked and couldn't believe her eyes as tears formed, "B...Barry?" she whispered as the guy nodded. She then hugged the speedster as a few tears went down her face.

The speedster hugged back instantly "Kara, what's going on? What happened to your Earth?" he asked as her breathing picked up and she let go, looked behind her, "Not here. Follow me." she said as she started running at human speeds with Barry following her not using his speed.

When she approached the camp, "Open the gates." she yelled and her order was followed as the big wooden doors opened and she ran in as the doors closed behind her. She made it to the middle of the camp as people were coming out of their tents. "It's okay. I got food and water for everyone." Kara stated and the group cheered.

She handed the bag to one of the survivors, "Put this in the pantry with the others." she ordered as the person nodded, took the bag and took it to the pantry where they have all of their foods and water. Kara took a deep breath as people came up and shook her hands thanking her.

The camp was filled with tents and little fires that had been built to keep warm, Kara started making her way to a tent slightly bigger than the others as Barry followed. It was their headquarters, where they planned and coordinated with their people who were out of the safety of the camp.

When she entered, she took a tired breath and took off her cloak and set it on her bed at the far side of the tent, leaving her in a suit that was similar to her red and blue skirt. But this one was black and grey without a cape along with black boots that were also similar to her red ones.

She went to the table where the plans laid and started to go over them. They had managed to get the plans for the Solar Tower. There were a few aliens in the camp that had abilities that were useful. Her plan was to destroy the tower and once it was destroyed, she would have her powers back and she can end this once and for all. She will kill every one of the CADMUS soldiers that she finds and she will kill their leader Lillian Luthor.

Then she was brought out of her thoughts in someone's voice, "Kara? What's going on?" she looked to see it was Barry who was wearing a look of concern and worry as Kara sighs. "It's a long story." she replied as she sat down on the bed with Barry following sitting down beside her.

He was stunned when he saw a scar on her face going from the corner of her eyes and down to her cheek a few inches from the corner of her mouth. He had thought that Kara couldn't get hurt.

"It all started with Lillian Luthor." Kara said, starting the story as Barry listened. "She's the leader of a covert government organization known as CADMUS." She whispered the last word as if she was scared of it. "All Lillian ever wanted was to rid the earth of aliens, including me. She hated me and my cousin the most because we were a threat. She ordered a strike team against me, I….I was captured but then I escaped resulting in this." she said as she pointed towards the scar on her face answering Barry's unspoken question who was shocked.

She nodded, "She built a Solar Tower that re-creates the red sun radiation. Resulting in me being powerless. While under the red sun, I don't have my powers Barry. I'm just….human." she stated as Barry was stunned and concerned he couldn't believe that Kara didn't have her powers.

Then he realized that for years Kara has been powerless. "Kara, how long have you been without your powers?" he asked, kinda afraid of the question.

It was a few minutes before he got his answer, "The Solar Tower was activated on August 5th, 2018." she answered as Barry gasped. Kara didn't have her powers in 35 years, that means that's how long her people have been at war with CADMUS. His heart ache for Kara for all the pain and suffering she went through.

"Oh Kara." he whispered as he leaned and gave her a side hug as she leaned her head on his shoulder, "Ever since that day, we have been fighting. Fighting to get our world back. I plan on destroying the tower." she said as she got up as Barry followed to the table.

"This is the Tower." she said pointing towards the blueprint, Barry's eyes widened. The building was tall and it had two buildings with an arch attached to the middle connecting them. He saw that on top were solar panels that emits red sun radiation.

He saw what her city was like when he came through the breach, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. What happened? He asked himself before he sped away from the soldiers that were there. "If you destroy this tower will you get your powers back?" he asked as Kara nodded. "I hope so. This is the only thing that's keeping me from accessing my powers." she replied as Barry nodded in agreement.

"Then I'll help you destroy the tower." he suggested making Kara look at him. "Barry. No, I can't ask you of that. You got family, friends, your world…." she started to try and change his mind but she was interrupted, "Will be okay," he finished thinking about Jesse and Wally, how he believed that they would keep his city safe.

Kara sighs, "Barry I...I lost so much. My cousin. Alex, J'onn, Winn, Mon-El, Eliza." she said looking at him with unshed tears. "Are you sure you wanna stay? Stay and fight?" she asked, giving him a choice to get out. Go back home.

Barry shook his head, "I'm staying Kara. I'm sorry you lost so many people and was in pain for so long. I'm helping and you can't do anything about it. I'm offering." he said as Kara sighs and then after a few minutes she finally nodded.

"Okay. Thank you!" she said as Barry nodded. "Now, tell me what I need to know," he suggested as Kara began telling him what they know.

While Barry was listening to Kara tell him about the war they were fighting, he can't help but look into those sea blue eyes of hers. He knew that he had feelings for the Alien in blue since he first crossed over. Then he married Iris and the feeling never went away. It was there deep inside. He never got a chance to tell her how he felt. He then found out about Mon-El during their musical duet together and to say his heart ached. Did she ever felt the same way? he sighs as he stands up straight, he would need to tell her. He can't keep it a secret any longer.

"...then we cut through here to avoid the checkpoints." she instructed as Barry nodded totally forgot what she had said but went along with it. "Kara." he called out to her making her look at him waiting for him to speak. Barry couldn't hold it back anymore, as he walked up to her and smashed his lips against hers. She was shocked for a few seconds but then she started kissing back when Barry broke it, "I've been waiting to do that for a long time." he whispered as Kara nodded, "Me too. Barry ever since the day you came into my world, I could never stop thinking about you. I...I like you Barry. But then you married Iris and I didn't want to ruined that. So i kept of how I felt to myself." she said as Barry smiled. "Kara Zor-El I had loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you. Forget about Iris, you're the person I wanna spend the rest of my life with." he confessed as Kara nodded and smashed her lips against his.
