Kelly Severide is a firefighter. It became because of the desire I've always had to save lives and not because of the desire to make a career.
He's always been a womanizer, a kind of a fling and off without committing, until he met Stella.
She seemed to be the right girl, the one who despite the ups and downs between them was always by his side willing to never leave him.
That day was no exception, they woke up embraced and after taking a shower each got ready to go to work and be on time.
The morning had passed far too quietly. No call either for team three or for truck 81. There had been only a few for ambulance 61 even if for minor things.
It seemed like a bit of a boring day in reality.
Matt Casey, the captain was in his office sitting at his desk trying to dispose of the documentation that had piled up during the various shifts. The guys in the truck were in the kitchen, there were those who watched TV sitting on the sofa like Mouch, those who did crosswords and those who chatted.
Squad three, on the other hand, was sitting at their table chatting and laughing about this and that with their Lieutenant Kelly Severide.
The latter had woken up that morning with a strange sensation. He had the feeling that something was going to happen. It really wasn't a bad feeling. He couldn't tell if something good or bad was going to happen, but that state bothered him a lot.
He was a little thoughtful and distracted and all his colleagues including Captain Casey had asked him if everything was ok. He had told everyone yes, that he was fine, also because in fact he was.
When it was time for lunch, they all gathered in the kitchen and had lunch with what Cruz had prepared, laughing and joking.
Kelly also tried in her own way to participate even though he wasn't totally focused on what he was saying and it was at that moment that Stella noticed her boyfriend's strange behavior and realized that maybe there was something wrong.
He knew it would be hard to get him unbuttoned, but he would still try to make him talk.
After lunch everyone went back to doing different activities, some guys in the truck were getting ready to train a bit.
Severide decided to go out in front of the barracks to get some air. When he had that feeling it was almost never something good. He needed to clear his head.
He would remain in the vicinity of the barracks, so if the alarm went off he would return immediately.
He went to Boden to warn him of what he was going to do.
- Chief, can I talk to you? -
- Yes sure! Enter Kelly. Some problems? Sit down as well -;he said.
- No, all right. I need to get some air if it's okay I'd take a ride out here so if a call comes I'll be right back.
What happens? You know we can talk if you want. - replied the chief.
- Yes, thanks commander. But really everything is ok. I just really need to get some air.
And so saying he thanked his boss and left the barracks.
Meanwhile, Stella was looking for her boyfriend around the barracks asking everyone, especially the team if they had seen where he had gone, but no one knew.
