Trifa Aranea
'Where am I?' I wondered to myself as I rose from the ground, which was barren and covered in rocks. The sun was in the middle of the sky, its heat beating down on her like humanity would beat down on the faunus for simply existing. I looked over my equipment. I was still wearing my jumpsuit and I could feel my dagger on my hip. I could see five figures standing on the horizon. 'Are those humans or faunus? I can't see any traits on them, but then again it could be something like scales or retractable claws,' I thought.
I felt something poke my side. I turned around to find a silent human wearing a mask with a general triangular shape with two large eye-holes on both sides and a sort of tube at the end of it. He wore a tan overcoat and military boots and in his hands were holding a bayoneted bolt-action rifle. I grabbed my knife, aiming it at this disgusting human, likely trying to tackle me to the ground and make me his little faunus slave. I lunged forward with my knife, going to for a stab to the gut, only to get kneed in the stomach and hit in the face with the butt of his rifle.
Everything smelt of charcoal and smoke, flames raging around my family and I. I could see three human figures enter my house through the flames. The three of them pinned down my father and stabbed him over and over again. "Trifa, go with your mother!" he shouted as the last bit of life escaped him. Two of the men chased us up the stairs to the second floor of our cabin. They had cornered us in my bedroom. The two assaulters pulled out knives. "Trifa, run!" I could hear my mother screaming as I ran down the stairs and out the door as the flames engulfed the house. I ran until I couldn't run anymore. I collapsed in the forest, looking back at the house, it only being cinders and ash.
I felt someone shaking me violently as my eyes opened slowly. "Get up you dumb bitch!" a male voice hissed as I saw it was the human that had attacked me. I reached for my blade but it wasn't anywhere to be found. "If you're looking for this you ain't getting it," the human mockingly held my weapon in his dirty, grubby hands. I could feel the hatred boiling up inside me for the devil in man's clothing. There was a fire in front of me. Fire. 'No. Not like this!' I started to shake as the memories of my parents came to the front of my mind. Tears rolled down my face as my life flashed before my eyes. 'So this is how I die? Being thrown in a fire and raped by a human.' I couldn't help it. I wished Yuma was with me right now. I wish he could save me from this damned human.
"Are you fucking stupid?! Come with me!"
"Why should I, human?" I retorted.
"Because if you don't you'll be more dead than the animals in a Deep Zone! Now lets fucking go!" the human dragged me by my arm away from the campsite, leaving everything other than my dagger on his waist and his rifle. All the food and camping supplies were shredded in a hail of bullets as I was dragged into a cave. The look on the human's face was of utter dread as the sounds of footsteps outside of the cave echoed. He shoved me down to the ground as he aimed his rifle at the entrance of the cave. The footsteps got louder. The human got more tense. The men from before stormed in, wearing chains and leather as they fired at the human and I, him getting shot multiple times as he tried to… shield me.
'Why the hell is this dirty human… protecting me? What was his angle?'
"Run!" he shouted at me throwing me my dagger as he fired a few shots at the hostile men. Two of them dropped dead, the remaining three pulled out metal pipes and began to swing at the human as he stabbed another in the throat with his bayonet. He grabbed the pipe the dead man dropped and swung it at the head of one of the remaining men. It dented the man's head. Blood rushed out of the cracked skull. Now only the bastard human and the crazy human were left. The crazy one swung with his pipe, only to be stabbed with the bayonet in the side. Even still he continued swinging his pipe while the bastard sent a powerful punch to the gut, continuing to knee and kick him. He sent a final shot to the head of the crazy human.
He collapsed on the ground, bleeding out on the stone. I looked down at him and dug my heel into one of his bullet wounds. He screamed in pain.
"AAAAH YOU CRAZY BITCH I SAVED YOU AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME?!" he squirmed in pain. I began to feel something I haven't ever felt for a human, pity.
"What do you want then? Put you out of your misery?"
"NO! There's a syringe with a greenish-yellow liquid in it, on one of the bandits inject it into me!" he shouted. I looked around and found it, stabbing it into his abdomen. I put all the anger I had for humans as I injected the liquid into him. Slowly, his wounds began to heal, his heavy breathing evening out.
"Thanks… girl. What's your name?" the human asked.
"You first, human."
"Evan, Evan Turst."
"Trifa Aranea. Where am I?"
"The Rogues. What little water here is contaminated, the beasts are small and vicious, and the people are more vicious than the animals. What're you doing out here, Trifa Aranea?"
I paused. I… didn't know how to respond to that question. "I don't know. One thing I'm home the-"
"Got it. You don't have to explain. I came here to visit family… though it'll likely be the last visit…" Evan seemed distant as he explained.
"So what now?" I asked as my stomach grumbled.
"We're partners, until we decide to part ways," he said, extending an open hand.
'Fuck, why am I allying with a human?' I asked myself as I took his hand and shook it.
Hey guys, you may be wondering, "Why make another fic about such a small character?" Well the answer is simple: I read this Jaune x Trifa fic called Along Came a Spider by Mallobaude. Amazing story. And it inspired me to write my own Trifa story, and yes I made up her last name, it's just Spider in Latin.
