Imagine John carter being a pediatrician at county general ER in Chicago and Lucy knight is dating him the couple have been dating for more than six months and love each other passionately John carter decided working in the pediatrics area would be more easier for him and he loves kids dearly and especially loves helping them when they are sick, injured or just need a checkup of some sort. Lucy knight was a pediatric nurse and assisted John a daily basis.
Carter's POV I go grab a chart with my next patient and it's a 4 year old little girl named autumn and she's here because she has a fever sore throat and ear ache and she's been coughing eh ok I walk into the exam room and autumn is clinging onto her dad's shirt
Hi autumn I'm doctor carter I tell her in a soft soothing tone
H... hi she whispers shyly going into a coughing fit
She's been coughing for a few days and she has a fever she says her throat hurts and her ears are bothering her autumn's dad tells me I nod and write that down
Autumn do you mind if I exam you so I can make the pain go away I ask her softly
She nods slowly hesitating for a minute
I just put my gloves on and start the examination I look in her ears and immediately notice the problem
I sigh and inform her dad that she has a ear infection in both ears and it can be cleared up with ear drops within the next six days after that I proceed to continue the examination
Autumn I say gently
Hmm she mumbles
Can you open your mouth for me and say ah while sticking your tongue out I instruct her and ask
She shakes her head no
H... hurt she whispers
I'll be gentle i assure her in a soothing tone
She nods and I instruct her to open her mouth and say ahh
She coughs a little when I push the tongue depressor to far towards the back of her throat
I examine her tonsillitis and throat for at least 5 minutes then I tell give her dad a form that has a prescription if antibiotics that I'm prescribing to the local pharmacy for her to take for 8 to 10 days and it then she will start feeling at lot better.
Lucy's POV after John sees a decent amount of patients mainly children and a few teens it was finally time for us to get off of work and head back to our apartment.
