AN: Happy belated Easter to all of you who celebrate! This was supposed to be for the start of the week but it's all about celebrating holidays late so it's kind of apt. Hope you enjoy this little bit of ridiculousness.
"Well, a happy Easter you all," Deeks said cheerfully as he came into work.
"What, no bunny ears?" Callen quipped.
"Don't even suggest it," Kensi warned.
"Well, I mean if you want me to dress up, Kens-"
Callen held his hand up to stop him before he got any further.
"Don't. Please don't."
Why did Kensi and Deeks have to be like this? They were both as bad as each other. Actually, what happened to Kensi's 'not in work' rule? As if that had ever had any effect... Either way, he didn't need to hear about other of them dressing up or having a distinct lack of clothes. They just, they just didn't need to go there.
"Unless you go to church, Easter is a holiday for little kids," was Sam's opinion on the matter.
"Someone had to wake up early this morning to hide Easter eggs," Callen said in a stage whisper.
"Do you know how small those plastic eggs are?"
"Fingers don't fit?" Deeks asked, looking far too amused at the thought.
Sam also thought this and just gave him a glare in response.
"Oh, your fingers are definitely too small."
Kensi rolled her eyes as her partner chuckled.
"They're made for kids, not adults," he tried to excuse.
It didn't really work as he still looked far too annoyed by them.
"Did you at least get them all filled?" Callen was asking him.
"Yes."
The 'of course' very heavily implied there. As was the threat of harm if anyone asked anything else about his, ahem, very productive morning and night. No matter how amusing it would be.
"Is Easter another holiday you celebrate the day after?" Callen asked, turning to Deeks.
"Of course."
Deeks looked insulted that he would even be asked that.
"Does that really surprise you?" Kensi asked with a raised eyebrow.
Callen raised his hands up in defence. "Just trying to make conversation."
"Well, your topic sucks," Sam told him bluntly.
"See, this is why I don't talk much."
Sam snorted. "You don't talk much because you don't like people."
"I like people. Just when they aren't paying any attention to me."
"That's the definition of not liking people."
Callen shrugged, unconcerned by this pronouncement.
"All holidays are best celebrated the day after," Deeks maintained.
"You just like that everything is at half price." Kensi said with a snort.
"A good deal is always, well, good," Deeks agreed.
"Not if you aren't going to buy that amount of chocolate normally," Sam said. "Or else you're just wasting money thinking you are getting a deal."
"Oh, but I am getting a deal because I would be getting that amount of chocolate," Deeks assured him.
Sam shook his head and decided to say nothing further.
"You aren't too concerned by this," Callen stated suspiciously, looking at Kensi.
"Nope." Kensi shook her head.
He narrowed his eyes at her but Kensi just smiled. Far too innocently in his opinion.
"You don't mind that Deeks celebrates Easter the day after?"
She shrugged. "Like Sam said, any celebration is really for kids. Getting half price chocolate is probably the height of it for us."
With that, they all settled down into some sort of semblance of work, Sam absentmindedly rubbing the tips of his fingers. Callen thought that it would be prudent of him not to mention the cut he had down the length of a finger that was most definitely from something small, plastic, egg-shaped and possibly bright pink.
"Wait. Day after a holiday."
Everyone stared at him. He had literally just asked Deeks that. The whole Easter conversation was over. But Callen didn't care because a thought had just struck him. An important thought. Well, any thought that kept him away from paperwork was important but that was beside the point.
"Discounted holiday items."
"Best part about the holidays," Deeks threw in again needlessly.
"Easter eggs..."
"G, where exactly are you going with this?" Sam asked in exasperation as Callen looked between Deeks and Kensi.
"Discounted chocolate!" Callen said louder than he had intended.
Everyone stared at him.
"Dude, is your partner, okay?" Deeks turned to ask Sam.
"I don't even know anymore..."
"Yes, Callen, there's discounted chocolate after Easter. Just like there is after Hallowe'en, Christmas, St Patrick's Day and St Valentine's Day," Kensi replied. "Which is great."
"Exactly!" Callen said triumphantly.
Kensi gave him a confused look. "I don't follow."
"You're buying loads of chocolate at once."
"It's the best way to replenish the chocolate stash," Deeks said defensively.
"But you don't eat a lot of chocolate."
Deeks shrugged. "I prefer other desserts. Like ice cream. But chocolate has its place."
"I like chocolate," Kensi replied unnecessarily.
"That's my point."
"G, you aren't making a point," Sam said with a long-suffering sigh.
"I am."
"Not one that any of us can understand."
Callen gave him an exasperated look. He was being perfectly clear here. See, this is why he didn't talk a lot.
"He's buying it for Kensi."
"It's just safer for all of us if Kensi has a chocolate stash, trust me."
Both men thought for a moment before nodding in agreement, much to Kensi's dismay.
"I am not that bad!"
They all gave her a look.
"I thought she preferred twinkies?" Callen asked Deeks.
"I make my own stash of those," Kensi said with a sniff.
"And I am not touching those things," Deeks said firmly. "They are disgusting and stupidly unhealthy."
"Says the man who creates chocolate stashes."
"It's always good to have a backup and chocolate is definitely better for you than twinkies."
"For Kensi."
"Yes. Trust me, any improvement, no matter how small, to her diet is to be encouraged. Trust me."
"And you're doing this by aiding and abetting in her need for chocolate."
"It's either that or get in the way of her chocolate."
"Definitely not a good idea," Sam said.
Kensi looked like she wanted to complain about this but decided not to. It was true, after all, and they all knew it.
