Sam sat there numb the last year she lost her best friend and her husband she became they. Became the guardians of three rambunctious teenagers along with her three small children. The loss of her husband was the straw that broke the camel's back she thought.
As they lowered his casket into the dirt while she blinked back the tears as she held her youngest child. Four year old Anderson "Honey are you sure you and the kids are going to be okay because. Your dad and I spoke to Manolo and Esmerelda. They will take the triplets for a while.
Because they've been through more than enough changes in the last six months with losing their mom. And now Drew honey we believe it's too much" Alexis says to her eldest daughter. Sam finally looked up at her mother "No I appreciate it but they stay with me this is what Elle wanted.
And not just gonna walk away from them lost Drew to mom they keep losing people they love. I'm not gonna add my name to that list to give them up. I appreciate everyone's concern but we are fine" Sam says kissing Anderson. On Top of his head when she looked over at the triplets who were just as much her kids. As Maddy, DJ and Anderson were, she didn't know what to do without either Drew or Elle. Elena Nichole Tavares she's known as far back as she could remember.
Then there was Drew Andrew "Drew, Andy Matthew Cain, the love of her life, the man she's been with since she was 18 years old. When Elle snuck to a party that Olly had with his navy buddies where she met Drew. And Elle met the triplets father but she never saw past Drew they married a year later.
Against her parents wishes even though they lived separate lives they kept in touch. Even when things soured with Elle and her kids father and she came home and Sam came back home with Maddy. The friends picked up where they left off Maddy was two years behind the triplets.
Drew was the godfather to triplets and one their many father figures but Elle never spoke of what happened with their father even after choosing to be with him up north. And Sam never pushed the issue. Sometimes she wished she had been a better friend.
To know who the kids father was so just when they asked questions she could ask questions. Before Elena's accident she just started telling them about their father but she died before. Getting to give them the whole story leaves them with a lot of questions.
It made her feel horrible that they were too caught up in each other now the triplets were paying for it. All their misconceptions were a bitch and that is what Sam was plagued by. Everyone tried to talk her into just giving up the triplets momentraily
well at least until she got a grip on things.

Port Charles, New York
She decided that they needed a fresh start and leaving Miami was what was best for all of them. It was hard dealing with all the ghosts of what they all lost. Nobody knows them here so they wouldn't look at them with sad eyes.
Or hear constantly how sorry they were only people who knew was their family so they didn't have that hanging over them. It would send Les into fits of rage and he barely passed last semester he was able to keep his GPA at a 2.3. Which was a job in itself when she sent the kids outside so she could think and with the hopes of breaking Roman out of his funk. He was his momma baby and he loved every minute off it and now with his mom gone.
It was hard for him; it didn't matter that both boys towered over Elle; they were momma's boys. Only like Les and Starr it was as if Roman was asking for a death his pain he took out. Was on his body broken bones he laughed off the amount of time they spent in the doctor's office.
When Drew was here he kept them together now with him gone they were just. Taking everything one day at a time taking deep breath" Elle i hope i'm making you proud" Sam whispers. When the doorbell rang, getting up to answer it praying it wasn't her parents.
Not so much her father but her mother was smothering them since they got here. She opened the door to find her cousin "Nicky what are you doing here"she says pulling him in. "Well I was coming to check on you" he says sitting down as she gives him a face.
"Translation is my mother sent you over here because she's been overdoing it" Sam says. Shaking his head "No i was coming to visit you anyway can you blame any of us Sam you've had. A rough year first Elena now Drew we're concerned but how are you and the kids doing" he asked
Sam sighs as good as can be expected it's like every time they get their feet on solid ground. And their standing the rug gets pulled out from under them. I just had a painful talk. With Roman who tells me why we keep ending up in the ER.
That's the only thing that makes him feel Nikolas he's sixteen and his mom was everything to him. To all of them I'm not saying i don't have to worry about Starr or Les or Maddy even. Because I do I have to if Les hits someone in a moment of anger.
Starr and Maddy will plan to hurt you for shits and giggles and DJ and Anderson are just eight and four years old. But they feel it just like the older ones do but with Roman i feel like. With Roman it's different and we are all just trying to get by as best we can.
Honestly I feel like I'm failing him and his grandfather spoke to him. His world lost its color, he lost the most important person in his life"she says. Nikolas grabs her hand" Sam we all lost her, we all loved her I remember the first time i met her.
We we're all at that little island doing tricks jumping off the boat where the two of you swore. That you found sunken treasure and you guys had me JT and Mateo go in the water. "Have you thought about finding their father? I know the last time her and I spoke she was gonna tell them. Maybe if we could just find him maybe something good can come out of it" Nikolas says. With a sigh" she never got a chance to tell them because of her accident" she responds. They both paused for a second before he spoke"bring him by Windermere.
Where Spencer and myself will teach him how to ride a horse now he may like hurting himself. Pulling these stunts Sam because it's something he already knows I think he is very much. His mother's son and it will challenge him and he would want to conquer it.
Roman is smart Sam and I know with your love and faith in him and the rest of this family. He'll make his way he'll find his spark trust me "he says unbeknownst to them Roman was listening. Before skating off to be with his family"thanks Nikolas I mean it so how's Emily and the kids"Sam replies.
Making her cousin smile"Spencer is well Spencer and Paige is getting so big she's excited that you guys are here. So the place is looking good you're settled in but have you left this house? After Roman stormed off leaving his siblings and cousins when Spencer came"Hey guys what's up Maddy, Starr. Big Les where's Kid Roman" he asked as the other teens looked at each other. Then him"Kid Roman wasn't feeling too good"Les answered, "so my dear cousin we need to get into something.
So what do you do here?"Maddy says, who was short just like her mother with a mix of blonde and brown hair. With sparkling blue eyes like her dad but she was all her mother. "Well we can go to the lake but first let's get something to eat because I can't cause trouble on an empty stomach" Spencer says with a grin.
Finally some people that got him Joss used to be his partner in crime but since she got with Oscar. She's been so watered down as they made their way to Kelly's Diner. Meanwhile elsewhere after ditching his siblings and cousin going back to house.
And hearing them he knew he needed to try it wasn't his Titi's fault it was the drunk drive. Who took his mother's life he realized everyone loved her too but he always told himself. That didn't love her like he did but they did Starr was right and he needed to get a handle on his anger.
That is when his eyes landed on this girl who was about 5'2 a light caramel complexion. And some guys were putting something in her drink while another distracted her. So he skated over and grabbed the guy by the throat taking the drugs from his pocket.
As the boy tried to fight him off his friend went to help Roman headbutted him knocking him out. Then shoving the other guy to the ground and grabbing the drink and pouring it on him. The girl looked up at him in awe"don't drink that honey" he said with his deep voice.
Just then the boy he shoved to the ground got up ready to attack when he was punched in the face. Don't ever try to attack my baby brother" Starr said sliding off her brass knuckles. Passing it to Maddy"Ahh Kid Roman I see your making friends all over the place"Les says with a grin.
"Skylar" Spencer says When Joss came rushing over bumping into Les nearly falling as he caught her. As Oscar , Trina,Cameron and Dev came in after her" ummm thanks wait. Les" Josslyn says looking up at him making Skylar's head swing.
With a grin"Wait he's Les"Skylar asked" Joss is everything okay" Oscar asked as Les let her go. Just then Dante and Detective Padilla came over after hearing about the disturbance. "Can someone tell us what's going on"Dante says, "yes this Neanderthal came and attacked my friends"Lark said.
"Yo suck my dick bitch that's not what happened I saw this asshole right here putting this in her drink. While that motherfucker on the ground distracted her and this bitch was inside. So I came over and stopped it" he said as Skylar stared at him Detective Padilla took the drugs from him.
He was 6'2 190 with his hair up in a bun and he had light amber eyes. "He's lying! He probably tried to drug Skylar"Lark spat, "I don't have to drug girls. I'm not some loser because that's what losers do. And my mother did raise no loser"Roman responds, " I can vouch for his Cousin Dante"Spencer says.
"I didn't see them drugging her but I did see him shoot out of nowhere and attack them"the woman said. Roman scoffs"Bitch if you ask me i think you were trying to set her up, hey little momma. You should keep better company, I'm a ghost"he said, getting ready to walk away.
When Dante stopped him as Roman pulled away"hey bruh don't touch me there's no reason for it"Kid Roman. "Well I need to take your statement and I need you here" Dante said looking up at this kid. All the while Joss stood in shock when Oscar pulled her aside.
"You know these kids" he asked as she stared at Les "Umm yeah I didn't know they were here" she replies. "Yo can I go bro I told you want happen da fuq man" Roman says, "give me your name and be on your way" Dante responds.
Rolling his eyes" I'm a bystander man you don't need all that" the teen said agitated. "No you cannot go now my Detective asked you your name son what is it" Jordan says. Making his head swing towards her "I'M NOT YOUR FUCKING SON I WAS A GOOD SAMARITAN.
NEXT TIME I'LL MIND MY FUCKING BUSINESS" the boy says, as Jordan looked shocked. When she looked at him in disbelief "You know your mouth isn't helping you kid" Detective Padilla says. "Neither is yours" he replies , "is everything okay over here" Sam says as they turn around.
"It wasn't me this time" Les says as Starr and Maddy shook their heads waving at Sam. "No this one here says he stepped in to stop those kids from drugging her. All I need is to get his statement about what he saw and he's got an attitude on him" Dante says.
As Sam sighs "well he shouldn't sign anything he's a minor and yes he does have an attitude. But that is neither here nor there I am his guardian can I bring him down to the station" she replies, all Jordan could do was stare at him. He looked just like Curtis. It couldn't be who has been very distant since his best friend's death.
"You're free to go" Dante says ,Sam nodded no longer in the mood for a BLT. Nikolas nodded for her so that he would handle it as she gathered up the teens and left. Leaving Josslyn stumped as she looked at Spencer who shrugged " Dante I do apologize for my nephew he's got a major chip on his shoulder.
I can assure you he wasn't showing you his best self and my cousin and I will make sure he gets to the PCPD" Nikolas says. With his eye on his son who shrugged "We walked into this father" Spencer replies as his father looked at him sternly.
After everything calmed down "Hey Curtis I need to talk to you it's important call me back" Jordan says. As she watched them leave she couldn't shake the feeling that she was missing something.
Several days they were at the lakeside of the park taking turns doing different jumps into the water. When Ramon decided that he was gonna climb on a tree and jump off against his brother and sisters say so. Only to fall in wrong and they couldn't get him out that sent Maddy looking for help in the dark.
"HELPPP SOMEBODY PLEASE MY COUSIN WENT IN THE WATER AND WE CAN'T GET HIM OUT PLEASEEEE!" Maddy shouted. When Curtis came out of nowhere "where show me" he says as she leads the way. To where they were as Les came out the water" I can't find him" he says.
"Stay here, call for help," Curtis said, jumping into the frigid water as they used the car's headlights. As light so they could see they all looked on in horror as they waited for any sighting.
"Mi principe what are you doing" she says as he turns running to her hugging her. "Mami" he said, holding close as she pulled back cupping his face looking up at him. As he hung his head low" Roman look at me" Elle said, " it's hurt mami me duele mami everyday i miss you" Roman says.
Tilting her head to the side "It hurts me too Romanesco not to be there with you guys. But you want to know what hurts me more to see how you're hurting everyone else by what you're doing. Listen baby don't you think everyone else loved me too you know before you and your siblings came along.
It was me and your uncles and your aunties" she says, "I know Mami pero duele todos los días mi corazón duele tu deberías estar aquí ( but it hurts everyday my heart hurts you should be here" Roman said with tears in his eyes.
Wiping his tears away "I know baby but you're better than this Romanesco it's not your time yet baby. Don't do what I did thinking you have time when you don't want to miss out on your life. Because I can tell you this it's gonna be amazing and I'm always with you baby I'm here.
Always and forever everyday but you can't stay papi don 't run away like I did baby. And when the time comes I want you to forgive him it was my fault go ahead baby remember that I love" Elle says. "MEMA WE HAVE TO GO" a little girl called, "my boss baby is calling go baby I love you, I love all of you" she said.
Fading away as he began to cough" Mamii" he said spitting out water "ayyy mi madre Kid Roman don't do that to me again" Les says chastising him as he hugged his brother. While Curtis backed up "He should be good his pulse is good it's solid" the man says as Starr paced.
All the teens watched her"Estrella he's okay he's good" Maddy said in russian, as Starr chuckled when she stopped. Before turning to her brother who was dazed and confused "WHAT THE FUCK WHERE YOU THINKING ROMAN QUÉ ESTÁS PENSANDO COÑO MAMAGUVEO" she shouted.
"Look baby girl he's okay" Curtis says, "Yeah Starr Roman is good "Maddy says trying to calm her cousin. "NO MADDY THIS IS THE FUCKKING PROBLEM WE KEEP MAKING EXCUSE!" Starr says. "Hey relax I think he gets it" the man says as Starr runs her hand over her face.

When Curtis stepped in with his eyes on Maddy and Starr who looked familiar to him. "okay it was a stupid stunt he pulled his time of night but he's okay" Curtis says. "Starr I'm sorry" Roman says with his head hung low, " Roman it wasn't intentionally, Starr come on" Madison said.
"NO I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF HIS SHIT COÑO MENG"Starr says as Roman stood up. Grabbing his sister's hand "I'm sorry Starr" he says hugging her as she began to cry when Les hugged them and Maddy. While Spencer stood to the side as the rescue teams started to arrive.
That's when it hit him "Is your name Madison Cain"Curtis asked, but before she could answer. Alexis and Julian ran over "Are you guys okay what's going on" Julian says looking at the teens who were in tears.
