She continued to text back while the team was talking before she had a notification pop up on her phone that shook her whole body while they finished wrapping up a case, she had promised to go see Connor and tell me the outcome after they had finished wrapping the case but this seemed to be important. 'Period reminder 113 days late' It was sprung on her like a surprise, she had began to think back on what she could think off, the past nearly 4 months had been a blur, it had just been work, and repairing her relationship for the last year all the months seem to blur like one massive month together, usually she had always remembered to put down on my phone when she had her period, she thought to herself that she could of just forgotten, she wished that she could say that it was definately that, but she had exactly ever kept up with taing the pill, but she could always remember when they had sex to use a condom, but the pill or mark down that she had her period, nope, she couldn't, she honestly didn't know. And it scared her.

CALL INCOMING...

'Incoming call, Jackson'

Hayes had always seen a stubborn woman and child by the media, and by herself and people around her, Connor Wallace included. She had spent the last year making up for her mistake with Sam it, Sam had come clean about fortnight after the kiss happened, he walked past Hayes' office and she was fighting again with Connor, everyone in the office knew that they were together or at least they were before she did something she couldn't take back, she wanted everything with him, with Wallce, with freaking Connor Wallce but she would always find a way to mess everything up in her personal life, which was a marvel because in her professional life she was amazing at not ballsing anything up. All of the things she had done in the pat or the childhood she had experience scared the sh*t out of her, she had the childhood from hell because of her fathers and her mother political careers and she knew that deep down that she wasn't destined to be someone's mother because she knew that she would just mess up, mess herself up, mess her child up, she was scared and all she wanted to do was scream until she woke from the nightmare she was experiencing.

She picked up the phone call in front of the entire team, it was quarter to 6 and she acted as if it was a very important call and proceeded to leave the room, none of the team thought of anything by it, they excused her and she walked to her office.

"Hey…" She softly spoke as all the scenarios played inside her mind while her brother began to speak.

"What's up sis, did Connor do something?" he questioned down the telephone line they were speaking through.

"NO, no…" she added.

"Hayes, whats…" He began to question

"I think i might be pregnant." she blurted out of her mouth as she was facing the window in her office so no one in the office could tell or hear what she was saying.

"WHAT! That's amazing news!" He exclaimed.

"Is it?" She asked.

"WHat do you mean, I thought that things with a loverboy were good," Jackson sort of giggled out a response to the question she had asked.

"Don't call him loverboy, for christ sake I live with him, it's been 4 months," She bit back at her brother's remark.

"I'm sorry, I thought that you would be happy, you love him, anything with eyes can see it, i thought that having a baby together would be a good thing." Her brother consoled her with his apology for what he said as he tried to explain why he thought she would be happy and not questioning if it was a good thing or not.

"I don't know how I feel Jackson,"

"I'll get you a test. Meet at the bar, we can talk about it there if you want,"

"Okay i'll see you at the bar soon,"

PHONE CALL ENDED …

She turned the screen off her phone and put the item in her handbag, she picked up and grabbed her coat from the stand before she gave her goodbyes for the night to the team before she walked down to the DA's office. She spent over a hour with Connor in his office as he finished doing his work, which was never really finished but she was debriefing him on the case that her and her team had just finished reviewing,

"it turned out that a man Eugene Abbott had been arrested 17 years ago for the murder of Francis Madey, a upandcoming female basketball palyer, she had known eugene from being a child, she was 17 years old at the time of her death and he had been charged with her murder a week after the murder and his trail was a month after his incarceration, it had been rushed because she was the daughter of Senator Thomas Madey from Idaho, she was the seconf daught of 4 children in the family."

"Politics and policing, thats what happened when poltics gets in the way of murder investigation sthey want to be seen getting the murderer quick and fast an hvaing the matter dealt with quickly,"

"Yep, she was on a school trip in new york which was what made it a case for the CIU, tess brought it to me, anyway Eugene was pitted as a stalker of Francis' as she was also very attractive so boys liked her but a former hockey player Matt Davis witnessed Eugene staring at Francis and waiting for her after many basketball games, it turned out that Eugene was in love with Francis and they were planning on running away that weekend of the school trip instead this so call witness was the murderer, he thought that if he couldn't have fRancis that no one else including Eugene should be able to have her, so he strangled her and manager to get the blame pinned to Abbott, he was arrested at Time square about 3 hours ago an the paperwork just needs signing off for Abbott release." She explained.

"Sound like a whopper of a case, I wonder what would've happened if the two had manage to run away together, they would both be what 34 now,"

"I don't know, maybe they could of been married with kids by now, I spoke with the former senator this afternoon he is sorry for Abbott and he realised that he was just guilty of loving his daughter, but his other daughter Morgana has been going to see him for a while, maybe they will fall in love just like it did with her sister 17 years ago,"

"That might be awkward," he spoke as she nodded and giggled slightly, she looked at the time on her watch knowing that she needed to get out of this office so to see Jackson, she had been in his office for a hour but she couldn't bring herself to mention the fact that she could be pregnant that she could be sat a sofa away from him growing a life, growing their child's

life just metres away from him, she knew in her mind she needed to make sure what she thought was the truth would be the best thing to tell him, which was when she knew or not is she was pregnant.

He sat back on the sofa with Hayes after he had finished signing all of the paperwork for Eugene Abbott's release, they just sat together as she laid her head on his chest and he balanced his chin on her head, they just seem too comfortable to move, to go home, but she looked at her watch again seeing the time 7.13, knowing that she needed to get moving in order to see Jackson tonight nad take that test her big brother had bought her to escape what the media could lie about her again.

"Oh also can't make dinner tonight," Hayes finally spoke as she lifted her head from his chest.

"Why?" He asked as he raised his head and sat forward on the sofa that the two of them have many special and intimate moments hugging or cuddling on.

"It's a Jackson emergency, he rang me earlier saying he needed me, so I told him I would go and see him," she knew she should have just told him but she wasn't ready herself to discuss what that option could be, she just needed to know for certain first before she could vent discuss it with Wallace.

"Okay, I suppose I could cook those steaks I promised to cook tomorrow, I hope he is okay," Wallace proposed.

"Thanks. He will be," She responded

"I'll see you later," He said his goodbyes as she picked up her coat from the back of the sofa and picked up her tote.

"Okay, see you later, I love you." He told him as she began to turn away from him.

"I love you too." She turned around, gave him a kiss and walked out of the office.

She had so many thing running around her head, she could barely string any thoughts together, she was just reliving her past mistakes and her upbringing in her mind as she walked through the maze of the building before she decided to walk the way to the bar on 76th that she agreed to meet Jackson at because it was the only bar that made their favorite drinks, not that she would drink she was thinking about everyone, in her life, everything that had ever happened to her and how if she was pregnant was she going to deal with the situation, she wasn't exactly hidden from the media, if she was pregnant the media would have a frenzy because she was Hayes Morrison, sometimes she really hated being Hayes Morrison the former first daughter, she wished she could be like any other lawyer in the state but she wasn't and she acted out ad messed up more times than she could ever count but now as she was walking all she could think of what she and connor would do with the news of having a baby, a child, half her and half him, she loved him like no other man on woman on the planet and she told him that, he was her forever, not that they were engaged or married or anything it was just them living together but they kept their life together private from the media, enough that one a handful of images had been caught of them kissing, holding hands or hugging with in the media. …

She entered the bar just before 7.30 had rolled round, Jackson was sitting near the back of the bar with the ladies toilets just opposite him and he waited at the table before she proceeded to walk towards her brother.

"I bought a test for you, from the pharmacy down the road, we both know what the media will think if it's you who are the one buying one," Jackson said as she smiled at his sister,

"Thanks, I just can't deal with the media, or people know yet, not before I even know myself, not even before Connor knows," She thanked him.

Sitting in a bar bathroom waiting for a pregnancy test stick to determine what her future was not what she thought she would be doing on a friday night, with her brother eagerly stood out the ladies bathroom for her answer to whether she was going to be a mother and him an uncle.

Hayes had never really seen herself as a mother or ever becoming a mother, she hadn't ever seen herself as someone's wife either she had always known that she was too messed or a heartbreaker or she would destroy anything that she had good, she nearly had last year. Last year she had kissed Sam in a attempt to create a sexual harassment case for Sam so he wouldn't be sacked, she would of succeeded if Sam had told Connor that she didnt mean anything by it she was just doing what she did best, messing up. She messed up for the fun of it before, or she would leave and not tell a soul, like she had done in Chicago, she had left the love of her life in Chicago because she was scared of loving someone, loving someone that much that it hurt, that if she had never messed up that she couldn't live with herself, because she had been so madly and deeply in love with someone that she was afraid to lose them, she did what she did best. She ran.

The looking at the stick was frightening Hayes, she was scared for the first time in a long time she didn't know what she wanted but she knew that it wasn't just about her, it was her and Connor and now possibly a child. She had no idea what she wanted. She had no idea what was going to happen. She had no idea what was going to change. 5...4...3…2...1…She turned over the test and looked at the tiny screen for the result which was changing her life that second, that minute. Positive.

Hayes did not drink any alcohol that night and knew she wasn't for the foreseeable future too, she had put a reminder in her phone to call her doctor in the morning. She had tortured herself in the corner of the bar with her brother beside her for the next 3 hours nearly for not realising until she could be quite far along, she hoped that she wasn't but going off what her phone had told her she had deep suspicion that she could be at least 3 or 4 months pregnant, but she knew that the only way to get that verified was going to her gynecologist, so the only drink she had was orange juice for the rest of the night while Jackson tried to console her on how she was going to tell Wallace.

As time flew by they saw the clock turn to nearly 12 and Hayes knew she had to return to her home where Connor would be worried about why she had blown him off and for what reason.

"What took you so long…" He gently whispered in her ear as he kissed her succulent lips then he helped her remove her coat and placed it on the coat stand.

"We need to talk, Connor." She asked

"Can they wait till morning, it is…" looking down at his watch, " nearly quarter past 11," He replied.

"I don't think it can," She continued.

"What's wrong, you're worrying me, what happened as someone tried to hurt you," Connor questioned with all the scenarios of what could've happened trying to play out in his head.

"No, no, nothing like that," She responded.

"Then what?" He asked.

...

"I'm pregnant."
