Hey everybody! You read the rating and tags correctly, I am usually a pretty PG type of writer but for some weird reason this just came to me. Blame all the Tumblr danganronpa monster AU blogs and me remembering Kaito likes plants on his profile. That's all I can say. I have no excuse. Keep reading if your curious how the heck a plant and wolf bang.

Beautiful moonbeams and an odd breeze from the west winds told Rantaro Amami that tonight would either be another lazy night or an interesting one.
It didn't matter to much to the green haired hybrid of a drus father and nymph mother. He just wanted to sleep in the lake he recently came across in his travels and take a good nap. It even had a surprisingly well maintained and semi-abandoned lodge beside it. There were no tracks from a car or human scent around, he assumed that whoever was taking care of it wasn't human. Only thing interfering with this was a sudden odd smell of pumpkin or something that smelled like imitation pumpkin at least.
"Strange, I can feel almost every tree and plant for at least a few yards but I no pumpkins. They aren't even grown in this area." He thought to himself.
Forest deities tended to wander constantly or stay in one place. Rantaro tended to do a lot of the former to discover new plant life, meet new creatures, and also track down his sisters. His father wasn't a bad guy but fell in love far too quickly. Being careless he tended to fall out of those relationships almost just as fast. Because of this he had his hands more then full with 14 kids. Rantaro was the oldest only boy among his 13 other girl step siblings. The humanoid plant hybrid that he was made a testament to the fact his father wasn't picky in staying with his own kind. This meant many of his siblings were hybrid monsters to some extent with tendency to wander off lost if no one was watching.
On the plus side much like the non-sentient plant life in the area, he could tell the scent of his own kind. On the negative side some could move much farther and faster then him which led to Rantaro being places that they might of already left days ago. Currently the plant hybrid was on the strong scent of werewolf with the faint scent of his kind in the mix. That meant his half werewolf sister kotoko was somewhere in the area.
That or she passed by here a few hours ago and he was in the territory of some clan of werewolves. Despite how humans described them in books and movies the few werewolves he'd known were pretty friendly. Just like any other creature out there some were more welcoming then others. Some would invite you to either stay around the pack as their new best friend. Others would make a detailed threat of what world of pain you'd be in if you didn't leave.
He didn't know what kinds were here but he could slink pretty quickly into the lake he was in or the tree tops just in case. Needing to just take a rest from his searching was what brought him here in the lake for a nap when the out of place smell woke him up. The smell also had a hint of honey, pumpkin, and wolf to it. He sensed the odd scent up west where a tall hill overlooked the lake. Having come across that hill earlier he knew there were yellow buttercup flowers at the top. He channeled a bit of his energy over to them to give him a bit of a vision of what could be over there from the buttercup flower's point of view.
A huge white wolf panted in the moonlight. It could of been mistaken for a normal wolf if not for having the build and size of a lion. That along with tints of purple highlighted in patched from the tip of the tail, up the spin, and along the long muzzle. Long razor sharp teeth were in view as it panted from what must of been a long run. Tied to it's back was a backpack. It stood upright before removing a thermos with a familiar starbucks logo on it.
"I thought that pumpkin smell was weird. That explains it. What's a werewolf doing out here alone?" Rantaro thought to himself.
It wasn't unheard of for creatures that usually lived in packs to be loners in cities, woodlands, or even at sea. Still this wolf had to come from someplace with other people for him to have a freshly hot artificial beverage on his person. Rantaro wasn't a pervert but he could tell the wolf was male considering his lack of pants left little to the imagination outlined between his legs. That or it had two weird tail.
The wolf began to morph and pulled out clothing to put on from the backpack. Looking through plants at things around Rantaro especially at night didn't give him a complete crystal clear image. Just a little color and general outline could be seen. He seemed kind of tall still in human form and Rantaro could still make out his purple hair as he continued his walk over the hill. He ducked down deeper into the water as the new comer came in view of the lake.
The werewolf named Kaito Momota usually took nightly runs with his sidekicks. This was just one of those nights he felt like being alone. His life wasn't perfect but there were definitely those worse off then himself. Regardless a nice run with a yummy warm pumpkin spice latte made his mind melt all the cares away. He admired the stars as they shimmered off the lake beautifully while he drank his drink. As he approached closer to sit on the docks he noticed a sorta off smell in the air. It was kind of like an aloe body wash mix with mint.
He made this cabin his little "hideout" of sorts when he just wanted some alone time. As big a social butterfly he was, even he needed just some alone time every once in a while. All his closest friends knew where he was so if he stayed out to long they'd know where to look.
Kaito remembered putting up strong air fresheners around the cabin but they shouldn't of been so strong he'd smell them this far. That and they definitely weren't mint scented. The scent of none of the usual animals around this area could be found for miles and as far as Kaito knew none of them used human body wash. The werewolf didn't have any weapons other then a pocket knife on him but if it was a truly dangerous human he'd make them think twice.
"Anyone out here?! I don't want to chase you away just talk!" He shouted to the lake. He waited for a bit only to receive no answer. Logically a true threat wouldn't just let itself be known. Still kaito never liked thinking the worse of strangers before giving them at least a little chance before judging. The resident small town prankster would often call him a risky idiot for it but it was just one of his life mottos. If whoever was hiding near was just shy and hiding then he'd befriend them. If they were a lethal threat then that was on him to handle.
After a few more seconds passed of no response he was about to just dismiss the whole thing as him looking dumb shouting at water. That was until a stream of bubbles and something green started to rise supported by vines. They could definitely pass for a human by at least a little. They were partially covered in dark green vines around their neck in a way that looked like scarf hanging of their neck but seemed weaved a bit to the head of lighter green hair. The newcomer had an attractive human face and and lean but muscular body. They looked mostly human besides some flower buds growing out of the shoulders. On top of being space obsessed he was kind of a plant nerd. Kaito had never seen those before nor the species of the individual slowly approaching. As it finally met him on land the previously wet blue stripped shirt and tan pants dried themselves.
"What are you and how'd you do that?" Kaito asked.
"I'm part druid on my dad's side and Nymph on my mom. We can absorb water out of most stuff including what we're wearing. Its nice but doesn't really help when you've got stains you wanna get out. I'm Rantaro Amami by the way. You?" The plant creature asked. Their voice was kind and casual.
"Cool! I'm kaito momota, luminary of the stars and the future first werewolf to go to space." The wolf announced.
"Really?"
The two talked for a bit and got to know each other. Kaito told Rantaro about his small town not to far away from where they were. Upon learning why Rantaro was traveling he was invited to come with him to the town to for help. "My sidekicks are pretty good at tracking down missing people and things. I know they can find your sister in a snap." Kaito said.
"Is sidekicks the nickname you give your mates?" Rantaro asked.
"No, I don't have a mate exactly cause of a part-time job of mine." Kaito said while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Really? What kind of job prevents you from having a mate?"
Kaito's smiled faltered a bit at the comment and Rantaro worried for a second if he pried into something personal with his question. He was rarely the nosey type to pry into other people's personal lives. The guy seemed interesting though and he couldn't help be curious still.
"Umm, its kind of a really lame and boring job. I don't think you'd wanna hear about it. How about instead I just take you to my town in the morning? Sound cool?" Kaito said.
"I guess it must be something embarrassing. Well he doesn't have to tell me if he doesn't wanna." Rantaro thought to himself.
He simply replied with a smile and head nod.

She liiiiiives! Yes I'm back to posting again or at least attempting to make it more then just 5 times in the year. I meant to get to posting and editing on this stuff a little after new years but I've lost drive for a lot of things in life. I'm seeking help now though and really wanted to do something. None of my stories are dead I've just gotta get myself together even before the lay offs and quarantine I wasn't that driven. Now I'm at least a bit better and want to share some renewed energy with you all. Hope everyone is staying say.
