First Kiss

On Kami's Lookout, the Z-Fighters reveled in the defeat of Majin Buu as well as the revival of Goku. While everyone began saying their goodbyes, preparing to return to their homes, a certain teenage pair could be seen separated from the rest engaged in their own more intimate farewell.

"So…it's finally over…." Gohan stated.

"Yeah." The two remained in silence before Videl spoke up again. "So…what happens next?"

"Well…Dad's alive again, so I guess that's a start," Gohan grinned. "And I think your Dad is gonna be…busy to say the least."

The pair glanced over to the Mr. Satan and the Good Majin Buu playing with Bee who jauntily ran circles around them before darting across the Lookout. "I think that's putting it lightly, but that's not what I meant."

"Hm?"

"I mean…where do we go from here? We can't just go back to being plain old classmates anymore…can we?"

Gohan crossed his arms. "Honestly…I'm not even sure I can go back to school after this mess."

"What!? Why!?" exclaimed a dumbstruck Videl.

"You remember the Tournament right?"

"Yeah, what about-?" Videl gasped as she realized what Gohan was getting at. He'd been ousted as not only the Great Saiyaman, but also as the same Golden Boy from the Cell Games. With everything she'd learnt within these past days, she now understood why Gohan, his family and their friends were so under the radar.

"So…you're saying…this is goodbye for real?"

"Honestly…I don't know. I know Mom won't just let me drop out, but I wouldn't put it past her to try and get me out of Orange Star High…at least until the Dragon Balls are active again."

"But that's still six months! I don't want to not see you for that long!"

In a scene mirroring their earlier reunion, a teary Videl buried her face into a dismayed Gohan's chest. Unlike earlier however, this time, Gohan wrapped his arm around her shoulders, holding her tightly against his firm frame.

"Videl…"

Turning towards the sound of her name, Videl glanced up to look him in the eye, getting lost in his stern yet soft expression. He was so different than the shy schoolboy she thought she knew, so rigid and confident. Yet at the same time, he was still the soft soul he'd always been. The two remained silent paying attention to nothing else but each other almost unknowingly inching their heads closer. Instinctively tiptoeing, Videl took further initiative nearly thrusting herself towards Gohan, their faces near millimeters apart until…

"Yo, Gohan!"

"Gyegh!"

"Kyaa-!"

The duo shrieked before hastily separating, red-faced and clutching their chests. Stepping out from behind the temple, they could both see Gohan's family looking right at them, Chi-Chi having a massive gleam in her eyes.

"C'mon Son, we're getting set to head home!" called Goku.

"I…"

Gohan turned back to Videl who seemed to have simmered down. With a melancholy smile, she said, "Go on Gohan. I'm sure you and your Dad have a lot of catching up to do." Sauntering past the flustered hybrid, Videl went off to join her own family, getting playfully tackled by Bee.

Simmering down himself, Gohan hovered over to join his family as they prepared to take off. With Chi-Chi in his arms, Goku leapt off the lookout followed by Goten. Gohan took one final look back and once again locked gazes with Videl. No words were shared between the odd pair, only a simple smile and wave before Gohan too followed his father and brother in a powerful burst.

With Gohan and the others gone, Videl and her newly increased family remained on the Lookout, though her mind still lingered on the image of his final farewell. She'd be jarred from her stupor by her father clearing his throat. "Hhmmm…Well, I guess we should be headin' home too."

"Okay!"

"Wait, wha-GYAAAAAGH!"

The champ was unceremoniously hoisted off his feet and carried off the lookout by the rotund pink Majin. "B-Buu wait, I meant our home not…DWWAAAAAAAGH…!"

"Dad!" Videl rushed to the edge of the lookout to see Buu shoot off with her father. Though she was concerned for his safety, but given what she knew about their relationship, she wasn't too worried about him.

"Rarf! Rarf, rarf!"

With a giggle, Videl picked up the yapping puppy, snuggling him against her chest. "Come on little guy. Let's go home." While Bee happily licked her cheek, Videl leapt off the lookout into a freefall.

[Meanwhile]

While Gohan and his family descended the skyward pole, Gohan suddenly halted in the air. "Wait a second…"

"What's wrong Gohan?"

"You guys go on ahead. There's something I need to do first."

"With Videl?" grinned a teasing Goten.

The rest of the trio joined the friendly teasing until Gohan replied, "Well…yeah, but not for whatever you're thinking."

"Oh yeah, then what are you going back to do?" grinned Goku.

"We're at Korin Tower Dad, do Videl and her father even know how to get back home?"

The teasing looks instantly vanished upon realization of Gohan's genuine point of concern.

[Meanwhile]

After what felt like forever, Videl finally descended past Korin Tower before searching the area and finding nothing but forest. "Okay now…where are we…?" As Videl continued to survey the immediate area, Bee suddenly began barking. "What is it?"

"Hey."

"Gwagh-!?"

Videl snapped back to come face to face with none other than Gohan who, in a familiar scene spontaneously appeared behind her. "Gohan? What are you…doing back here?"

"Figured I'd guide you home myself since we're quite a ways away from Satan City."

"…That'd be nice," replied a flushed Videl.

"Rrrarf!"

Giggling at the pup's agreeing bark, Gohan motioned for Videl to follow him before ascending into the air. Once she matched his altitude, Gohan continued, "It's going to take a while to get back to Satan City, so you may want to brace yourself."

Extending her arm, Videl grasped a now flustered Gohan's hand before replying, "That's fine by me."

[Much later]

The pair (trio) finally arrived at the outskirts of Satan City, greeted by the ever familiar billboard brandishing Videl's father.

"Finally, we made it!" Gohan announced.

"Yeah…"

Videl's downtrodden reply didn't go unnoticed by the whining puppy who once again licked at her face. "Stop it," Videl chuckled, scratching under his chin.

With some guidance, they finally arrived at the Satan Manor, Gohan letting Videl and Bee down on the balcony. Once Videl let the little puppy loose, he immediately hopped onto the bed and stretched himself out before laying down.

"Well, someone's got the right idea," said Gohan.

"It is getting late, isn't it?" Videl glanced up and noted the setting sun. Gohan flew slowly for Videl's sake, but that made the trip home much longer than it'd have been for him solo. Though unbeknownst to the other, neither Gohan nor Videl minded.

The two once again merely gazed at each other as the sun continued falling around them. Finally, Gohan spoke up. "Well…I guess this is it."

"Is it really Gohan?"

"Like I said before, I don't know."

"Do you want it to be?"

"Of course not!" Gohan snapped. "I don't want to leave Orange Star High…but right now, things don't seem to be in my control."

Videl's gaze broke away from Gohan's, her expression hidden beneath the spikes of her hair. "So…you're saying there's a 50-50 chance this is it?"

"Basically."

Videl's fists clenched tightly at Gohan's response. "In that case…there's something I should probably say before rolling that die…or rather…something I have to do…!"

"What is i-!?"

Gohan was hastily silenced by Videl practically snapping in front of him, taking him by the collar of his gi. Before he could process what was happening, she pulled him down to her level, ascending herself and in a single shocking motion, pressed her lips to his.

A wide-eyed Gohan froze as Videl held them in place for mere seconds that felt like minutes. Unable to perform any action, Gohan merely surrendered to the soft sensation of Videl's lips until finally, she broke the kiss and descended back to her window. Without another word, Videl darted back through the door, and slammed it shut behind her, leaving a still frozen Gohan alone.

Videl leant against the balcony door before allowing herself to slide down it and curl up into a fidgeting red ball. 'Sorry Gohan, but I couldn't let that chance pass me again.'

Outside the house, the sun had finally vanished and Gohan had failed to move a centimeter as he still attempted to process everything that had just happened. Not even the timely arrival of his father could immediately shake him out of his stupor.

"There you are Gohan! Come on, your Mom's got dinner ready, and she won't let us start without you!" Despite the invitation of food, Gohan failed to respond. "Gohan? Hey Son, you okay in there?" Goku tried multiple times to gain his eldest son's attention but to no avail. "Geeze, what happened…never mind, you can tell us all later. Right now…" Goku placed a hand on Gohan's shoulder before the pair vanished.

[A few days later]

After the Majin Buu fiasco, things were roughly back to normal in Satan City. Of course that meant that crime was back on the rise, and of course, a new and improved Videl was on her way to take the case and assist the police…or rather she would if the criminals weren't already being carted off.

"Wow…I'm impressed, you guys actually managed to handle things without me for once," Videl joked.

"Yeah well, we still can't take the credit for this one," replied the leading officer. "We were pretty pinned down, but that guy in the green suit and cape showed up and cleaned house. It was unbelievable I tell you that."

Videl's expression perked up at the mention of the police's savior. "Wait…guy in a cape…!?"

"Yeah, the one that was involved with that dinosaur case…what was his name again? The Green…Spire Man?"

"The Great Saiyaman…"

"Huh…what was that?"

"I'm late for school!" Throwing subtlety out the window, Videl dashed up the street before leaping into a fierce ascension. Jetting her way through the various lanes, Orange Star High quickly came into view. Instead of going through the front, Videl opted to land on the roof. If she was right, there should be someone already there.

As expected, upon arrival at the school, Videl noticed a lone figure in a green and black suit, sporting a red-cape and face covering helmet. The costume quickly vanished revealing a boy her age garbed in a white shirt, black vest, red pants, and the school's signature badge.

Videl descended just as the boy turned to greet her with a familiarly friendly face. "Gohan…?"

"Good morning Videl."

The duo once again only stared at each other, Videl in seeming disbelief. The look on her face quickly eased into one of glee as a wide, nigh teary smile grew to her face. The young hybrid opened his mouth to speak, but swallowed his words as the daughter of the champ ran up and leapt into his chest, wrapping her arms around his neck. His fluster quickly clearing up, Gohan returned the hug wholeheartedly.

Finally parting, Gohan replied, "I'm sure you have a lot of questions, an I promise I'll tell you everything, but for now, I think we should get to class."

"Y-yeah…"

As Gohan held the door open for her, Videl passed by Gohan and couldn't help but notice the redness still tinting his face, as well as the way he dodged eye-contact with her up close. Recalling their last interaction, Videl herself gained a crimson hue. No words were shared between the duo as they entered together, much to the gossipy pleasure of their classmates.
