Jehňátko - Little Lamb (I'm sorry if this isn't right translator isn't always reliable but I wanted to use a Czech word just because... )

I dead ass never stop thinking about these two having a baby of their own after rewatching "Baby Oskar" so... this happened. Brain go brrrrr... Oskar and Suzie are cute.

Oskar had honestly never thought he'd ever be a father, but here he was, admiring the small bundle cradled in his wife's arms.

His son, their son.

The concept was still surreal to him despite the lapse of nine months in preparation for this very day.

He recalled the day Suzie had informed him she was pregnant vividly. It had been a typical Sunday morning during breakfast. He had nearly choked on his cereal when she had joined him at their kitchen table to drop the sudden news. That really hadn't been something he had expected to hear when she opened up the conversation with being 'late'. He had assumed she had forgotten she was off despite always being home Sundays. Maybe the day of the week had slipped her mind. He had reminded her of the fact before she clarified what she really meant by being 'late'. Then embarrassingly enough, milk had come out of his nose when he choked.

After recovering from his sudden choking fit, he had felt a rush of joy as well as a pang of fear as he had Suzie reaffirm several times that she wasn't pulling his leg. The pregnancy test in her hand confirmed that it was indeed true, but he still had a very hard time believing it.

It was no secret to anyone in the boarding house that knew them well that they had tried for children of their one a many times but had been rather unsuccessful. Suzie had a difficult time getting pregnant and when she had, it hadn't ended well. Two miscarriages later, Oskar had felt it extremely cruel to subject Suzie to that once more. He couldn't bear to see her so depressed and miserable again even if he wanted children as badly as she did. Eventually, they had come to an agreement that it was okay if it never ended up happening, their relationship with Arnold would simply have to fulfill the desire of parenthood and thankfully it had (for the most part).

Nearly a decade later of actively trying, he hadn't expected the turn of events but it was certainly not unwelcomed. What had suddenly changed he wasn't sure, but luck seemed to be on their side seeing as this pregnancy hadn't ended prematurely as they had both feared.

Oskar bombarded Suzie with kisses. After the long grueling labor she had just been through, she deserved nothing but; even if she had almost broken both his hands during such said labor.

" Oh Oskar, he's beautiful." Suzie said wiping tears from her eyes.

He couldn't agree more. A small patch of curly golden locks against a skin tone much like his own, accompanied by a cute little nose just like his Suzie's. Thankfully, the baby hadn't inherited his nose.

The infant stirred in Suzie's arms, slowly but surely opening his eyes to look up at them both sleepily. Warm yellow-brown eyes greeted them once he was properly awake.

" He has your eyes."

" Hey you're right he does!" Oskar said with a grin before timidly brushing the back of his hand against the baby's chubby cheek. They were so incredibly small and soft, he was still trying to fathom how he had contributed to making something so beautiful and dare he say it, perfect.

" He's awfully pretty, just like his mommy." Oskar said sweetly before kissing Suzie again.

" I love you." Suzie said tenderly kissing him back.

" That's funny I happen to love you too." Oskar retorted with a dopey smile gently tucking loose curls behind his wife's ear as she rolled her eyes at his response with a soft snort.

" Alright goofball, would you like to hold your son?"

" N-Now?"

" Of course sweetheart, you know how to hold a baby."

" Nancy's baby was a lot bigger, he's so, …. small Suzie." Oskar countered nervously. " What if I- "

" Don't be scared Oskar, you won't drop him. I'll help you." Suzie said reassuringly, shifting Oskar's hands appropriately to cradle the newborn as she handed him over before he could protest.

" See? No need to be nervous, you're doing just fine my love."

He gave her a wary smile, but had to admit he didn't feel as nervous now after she had reassured him, it wasn't so scary or hard he noted. She was right, he could do it no problem, he did have some experience from babysitting after all.

The newborn looked up at him lazily, still a tad sleepy it seemed. Oskar felt an overwhelming array of emotions as he held the infant, he'd known his son for all of eight minutes and already adored him. He swallowed thickly as a sudden onset of tears started trickling down his face, he had always been a rather sentimental man.

" I can't believe it, we're - I'm a daddy!" He told Suzie proudly as she thumbed away moisture from his face with a smile.

After so many years, finally a baby of their own, he couldn't possibly be happier. This was the best day of his life, well, second, getting married to Suzie was the first of course.

Just as he was beginning to feel more confident holding their son, and wanted to hold him a bit longer, the baby began to fuss and cry in his arms.

" Hey what's wrong you don't want daddy to hold you? Am I doing it wrong?" He asked the crying infant as if he expected an answer in return. " You want to go back to mommy? Okay." He handed him back to Suzie with a rather disappointed look.

" Don't be upset Oskar, he's probably just hungry. Are you hungry sweetie?" His wife cooed softly.

Apparently he was Oskar noted as the infant latched on to breastfeed almost immediately, ceasing his crying from a moment ago.

Oskar realized he was quite hungry himself, they had been at the hospital for who knew how many hours. He wondered if the others had managed to nab something to eat at the cafeteria given it was now close to the middle of the night or at least he thought it might be, he had honestly lost track of time being in such a panic to get Suzie to the hospital in the family packard once her contractions had started.

" What are we going to name him?" Suzie asked him suddenly pulling him out of thoughts. He watched her play with the baby's curls and chuckled lightly as the infant began to fall back asleep at the repetitive motion.

" Maybe, Lukas?" Of all the names they had been sorting through for the past weeks and narrowed down to, that was the one that sounded nice he thought, as well as matched the unique spelling of their own names.

" Lukas, I like that."

" What do you think little buddy? It's good name?" Oskar asked the newborn jokingly, offering his finger for the half asleep baby to take.

" Oh I think he agrees." Suzie said with a giggle as the infant grabbed a hold of Oskar's offered finger; before promptly trying to put his father's finger in his mouth as well.

" I think he inherited your appetite as well, my love. He's going to help you eat us out of house and home."

" Very funny Suzie." Oskar said dryly as his wife laughed.

" Knock knock are we allowed to see the little terror?" Came a rap against the doorframe and Grandpa Phil's voice causing both Kokoschkas to look up at the source.

" Of course Grandpa!" Oskar retorted beckoning him and the rest of their makeshift family in to take a gander at the newest member as they filed into the room.

" Nice looking kid you got there Kokoschka." Ernie complimented slapping a heavy hand on Oskar's back in a friendly gesture as Hyunh cooed over the baby taking him from Suzie to hold him.

" Gee thanks Ernie." Oskar retorted feeling his chest swell with pride at the warm reception.

" Kid's sure lucky he looks like Suzie though because woo-wee."

" H-hey!"

" Relax I'm just joshing with ya Oskar, here I figured you'd might be hungry." Ernie said with a chuckle handing Oskar a bag of nuts to munch on. Oskar thanked his lucky stars for a snack he really was starving.

" Come on Hyunh would ya stop hogging the kid, I wanna hold him. Suzie, would you tell him to hand him over."

" I've only been holding him for a couple seconds!" Hyunh argued. " You can wait Ernie."

" I'll be waiting all night if we let you keep holding him."

" You might not want to be so loud Ernie, you might make him cry." Suzie cautioned as they continued to bicker amongst themselves.

" You heard her, give him here if you can't behave yourselves you ninnies." Grandpa scolded as Hyunh and Ernie lamely apologized and handed the baby over to him.

" He's awfully cute considering Oskar's his daddy." Grandpa said with a snicker at Oskar's expense who frowned when he processed what had been said.

" Grandpa, that's not very nice." Arnold chastised from his seat next to Oskar.

" Arnold's right, you guys are being mean to me, I'm right here. Suzie, they're picking on me."

" They're kidding Oskar." Suzie retorted patting his hand comfortingly.

" Yeah yeah sure I am, here Pookie, take a look at our newest tenant."

Grandma shifted in her seat to allow Arnold to get a better look at the baby as she held him.

" What do you think Kimba? Should we let him into the pack? Is he worthy?"

" Grandma." Arnold scolded lightly with a shake of his head.

" Arnold, would you also like to hold him?" Suzie asked.

" Really can I?" Arnold asked rather surprised.

" Of course you can sweetie."

" You're gonna be big brother to him, it's good practice for you." Oskar encouraged ruffling Arnold's hair affectionately.

Arnold smiled, taking the small bundle from his grandmother.

" I think he likes you Arnold." Grandma noted with a smile.

" You think so?"

" That or maybe just your nose Shortman." Grandpa chuckled as the baby toyed with Arnold's nose.

" What's his name Suzie?"

" Lukas."

" Hi Lukas, I'm Arnold." Arnold greeted.

" Hold on, don't tell me you're spelling it's with a 'K' ?" Ernie groaned.

" Of course with a 'K'. 'Suzie', 'Oskar'? It has to match, that would be weird." Oskar stated plainly.

" Should have figured, why couldn't you have spelled it nor-."

" Very cute baby, you both must be so very happy. He's good looking kid! " Hyunh interjected before Ernie could continue his spelling tangent.

" Thank you Hyunh, we're very happy." Suzie said giving Oskar's hand an affectionate squeeze.

Oskar smiled returning the gesture.

Their family visited for a while longer playing with Lukas and talking amongst themselves until Grandpa decided it was time for them to be heading home.

" Alright you misfits, we need to be heading home, Shortman here has to get to bed it's way past his bedtime, and I'm sure Suzie's exhausted." Grandpa stated attempting to cart everyone out to let the couple and newborn rest from being the center of attention.

" Congratulations again, I'm so happy for you both my dear friends." Hyunh said tearfully hugging both Suzie and Oskar in his bear-like grip much to both their dismays.

" Ooof! T-thank you Hyunh…"

" Hyunh you're hurting them." Ernie scolded awaiting his turn to say goodbye properly.

Hyunh apologized profusely rather embarrassed whilst Suzie reassured him it was okay; Oskar rubbed his neck with a slight frown despite her words.

" Congrats kid, I'm really happy for ya. As for you," Ernie began as he playfully punched Oskar's arm. " time to man up now that you're a dad."

Oskar smiled weakly rubbing his bruising arm as Ernie gave Suzie a hug.

" For pete's sake we already said goodbye a hundred times. If you ain't in the car by the time I get there I'm leaving without ya." Grandpa threatened walking out of the room.

Arnold hopped out of his seat and handed the infant back to Suzie as the family began to file out completely.

" Can't wait to play with him back home, congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Kokoschka." He stated sweetly as Suzie ruffled his hair followed by Oskar as they said their goodbyes.

" He's a good kid that Arnold."

" He really is."

" You better be a good kid too, you got that as competition." Oskar stated sternly at their son.

" He's already scolding you, can you believe him?" Suzie said to their newborn with a shake of her head.

" You're already taking his side? That's not fair we're supposed to be a team Suzie."

Suzie snorted. " Why don't you come lie down sweetie, it's late and I'm tired."

Oskar nodded before carefully clambering into the hospital bed as Suzie scooted over to accommodate him. They eventually found a comfortable way to share the space, allowing them to snuggle and cradle the newborn between them who immediately fell asleep being held by them both.

Oskar yawned, noting how tired he was now that he was lying down, he could only imagine how tired Suzie was.

He turned to kiss and tell her 'goodnight' only to note the soft snoring coming out of his partner indicating she had already fallen deeply asleep. He kissed her forehead and the top of the baby's head before joining suit, least the newest member of their party decide sleeping was not going to happen.

Oskar yawned as he tucked the now sleeping baby back into their crib for the night. It was a surprisingly quiet summer night he noted as he watched his son sleep peacefully.

It was hard to believe that it had already been a couple months since they had first brought the infant home and how much he had grown in such a short span of time. Life really did happen fast, at this rate he'd be five before he knew it.

Oskar stifled another yawn as he made his way to the kitchen to place the empty bottle into the sink, careful to not make too much noise as he did so before returning to bed.

Suzie was still fast asleep as he slide back into his spot beside her. He tried his best to not disturb her as he got comfortable, seeing as she'd have to get up for work in a couple hours. She still had plenty of time to sleep unless the baby got up again, then it was definitely her turn to attend to him, he had gotten up twice already.

" Everything okay?" He heard her ask sleepily.

" Everything's fine, he just needed a snack, go back to sleep sweetheart."

Suzie murmured a response as Oskar kissed her cheek before wrapping his arms around her. He smiled at the content sigh that left his partner as he held her close, before succumbing to sleep as well with the warmth pooling between them.

Everything really was just fine, he couldn't be happier.
