Modern Warfare: Operation Kingfish

The Lieutenant Soap McTavish took a bullet and inserted it into the magazine. He didn't want to look at the other man in the room: the Lieutenant-General Stanford Shepherd. He was the commander of McTavish's unit, the Task Force 141, the best elite team ever created. The TF141 was composed of the best soldiers in the Western hemisphere. McTavish was in the SAS- the British Special Forces- unit Bravo-Six, before joining the TF141 with his commanding officer, the Captain John Price, who also led the TF141. Until this mission, Operation Kingfish, the worst failure of the TF141.

"Start from the beginning." Shepherd ordered.

They were in the Karkonosze Mountains, Ukraine. Their mission was to capture or kill the target, codename Kingfish. They arrived near the compound unnoticed. There were two groups. The assault group, 141, which was composed of Price, Soap, and Simon "Ghost" Riley- who was also a former SAS- and Gary "Roach" Sanderson, a former U.S.M.C Sergeant; and the sniper support group, Delta.

"141, in stand-by position." Price said.

"We have four targets patrolling the east and west barracks." Delta said. "Targets are lock-in. Ready to engage."

"Copy Delta, you are free to engage". Command said.

"Fire, fire, fire." Delta said.

Five seconds later, the guards were dead.

"He's down. We've got company."

"Specter Six-Four, you're clear to engage". Command said.

"Specter Six-Four moving in". The Pilot of the AC-130 said. "Light them up".

The 25 mm Minigun opened fire. All the ultranationalists outside where killed in five seconds.

"Good kill, good kill". The pilot said

Ultranationalists opened fire from inside one the barracks, believing naïvely that it would protect them from the AC-130. One 40 mm explosive shell later, their illusions where gone with them.

"Kaboom. 141, we got you covered. Have some fun."

The assault group came to the nearest building, killing a lone Ultranationalist.

"Specter Six-Four, fire at the west Barracks." Price said.

"Copy that".

Three explosive shells were enough to destroy the building. Price bent to glance over the corner. He was welcomed by Kalashnikovs. Soap used his M203 grenade launcher to silent them.

"Specter Six-Four, Give us an entrance."

Which was done immediately. The TF141 got inside the target building. First door, first room.

"Frag out." Price said, throwing a grenade inside the room. There was no longer any ultranationalist alive in this room.

"Clear right." Ghost said. "Go right. Clear."

In the corridor, Ultranationalist was disadvantaged, because they hadn't any close battle quarter weapons, like pistols. But the TF141 had. They arrived without real problems to the target room.

"141 have arrived." Price said, while Roach planted a breach charge on the door.

A Flashbang, and five 5, 56 ammo later, the 141 had secured the room.

"All Clear."

"141 have arrived at Target." Price said. "There is no sign of Kingfish. I repeat; there is no sign of Kingfish."

"Copy that 141." Command said. "Collect any Intel you can. If he's not there, find where he's going".

"Price, you need to see this." Soap said.

He was looking at photo of… Bravo-Six?

He's targeting Bravo-Six.

Then a beep noise started.

"Bomb! Get Down!" Price said.

Shepherd lighted a cigar. Soap looked at him for the first time since the beginning of the debriefing.

"It was a trap." He said

"I know. Tell me about Price."

Soap sighted and lowered his gaze.

They were running as fast as they could. A hundred of ultranationalists were hunting them.

"Specter Six-Four, we're closing of the evac point. Requesting close air support"

"Copy 141, we got you covered".

The AC-130 opened fire, tearing the ultranationalist forces apart.

"Goddamn, that's gotta hurt."

But the Ultranationalists knew about Specter Six-Four. And they had a bad surprise for him.

"That's was rocket fire? Shit. Flares, NOW."

Luckily for them, the rocket strokes a flare. But it was not the only one launched.

"Another! Here's comes another rocket! Break Right!"

Too late, the AC-130 exploded in the sky.

"Specter Six-Four is down." Warned Command. "Specter Six-Four is down"

Like if the fragments that were falling weren't clear enough. Soap had just the time to hear Price ordering them to keep moving, before he was struck by a rocket and went flying.

"Covering Fire"

"Roach, pull!" Ghost said.

Roach took Soap by his bulletproof vest.

"Go!" Price ordered to Ghost "That's an order"

"Fuck!" Ghost said, but he went towards the V-22 Osprey came to evacuate the TF141.

"Price!" Soap said, still pulled by Roach.

Price knew exactly what he was doing. The only way to get them out of here was to let someone behind to draw the enemy's attention on him. He would be this person.

"JSOC, your orders are to take off immediately."

"Stop." A TF141 member said. "We still have a man out there."

"Sir, our orders are to evacuate now".

"We don't leave someone behind"

"Get that bird in the air" Price shouted.

Despite the argument, the V-22 Osprey took off. It was the last time Soap saw him.

"That's it?" Shepherd asked.

Soap thumbed the table.

"Who is Kingfish?" he shouted.

As an answer, Shepherd threw a file with a photo fastened on it.

"His name is Vladimir Makarov" Shepherd said "And I will do everything in my power to get him"

But Soap was not listening to him. He took his knife and planted it on the right eye of the photo. At last, he could put a face on the name.

At last, he knew who he was going to kill.
