A/N: I've been thinking about all the other earths for a while now - maybe since that Beth/Alice debacle from last year? And then the Luthor reveal from Superman & Lois kinda sped up the planning process. So now that it's my spring break, here's a fic about other possible lives!
This is mostly The Flash because I know the most about it. So graciously ignore any errors on my part or blame them on the multiverse.
Please read and review! :)
Earth 54
They race around the place formerly known as Central City - red after yellow, yellow after red.
They chase after one another, because there really is nothing else to do.
The two of them have been fighting for centuries.
All of a sudden, screams; Flash turns to look for the source, allowing Reverse Flash to knock him to the pavement. Flash groans, looking to the side to see the buildings disintegrating in a massive wave of energy.
"What - what is that? What did you do?!" he asks.
Reverse Flash stands above him and for once looks...unsure. "I didn't do a single thing."
Barry (And, well, he hasn't been that in a long time, has he?) suddenly recognizes the energy, from a long-ago memory of a time that has passed. He has been a legend, a hero, for so long that he's forgotten how to be human. But this - this scares him. "It's an antimatter wave," he breathes out.
The two rivals don't move.
"You can't stop this, Flash. None of us can," Reverse Flash says in his familiar warble. He laughs mirthlessly before they are swallowed up, two more casualties of the Anti-Monitor.
Maybe they can finally stop fighting.
Earth 85
Everybody remotely important to him has been placed in protective custody.
He has nobody. Not now.
And it's his own damn fault.
So when the reporters - the vultures - come, he thinks he can do some good, for once. For the city, for his people, for the son he lost on that boat so long ago.
He looks into the camera and says, "I am the Green Arrow."
He'll deal with the consequences later.
Earth 488
"You guys ever think of the other us's?" Sara asks lazily, leaning back in her chair on the Waverider.
Mick looks up from his typing. "What?"
"Like, there's a multiverse. There are different versions of us somewhere out there, living different lives. Ever think about that?"
Nate snorts. "Don't push me down that rabbit hole. I've been there, it's not fun."
Ava walks into the room then and sits on Sara's armrest, saying, "Just because of that, I'm gonna push you down the rabbit hole. What's not fun about a million different versions of us?"
Nate crosses his arms. "Well..."
"Spill. Now," Zari says, picking up a donut from the center table. Mick grumbles something about getting crumbs on his laptop, but she ignores him.
"Okay, the problem with an infinite number of us's is that we're all idiots. We'll probably destroy the world in at least one universe."
"Well, it's not this universe," Mick points out.
Nate frowns. "Yeah. I know. But the idea that we mess up miserably in some other universe makes me irrationally feel guilty, and then I have to drown my feelings out in a heartfelt-"
"Moving on," Zari says loudly.
"We could be, like, a boy band in one universe!" he continues. "Or a pirate crew! We could be distant coworkers or distant cousins and we could be exactly the same except not! We could even be aliens for all I know!" He pauses. "This was the rabbit hole I was telling you about." Another pause. "We could be bank robbers in one universe."
"Already done," Mick says.
"There's probably a universe out there where we don't even know each other," Sara says, looking at her friends - at her family. "Isn't that weird?"
Earth 572
He's rushing around the camp, getting ready for the coming battle, when someone runs into him. The important stack of papers in his hands flutters to the ground.
He sighs, and starts to pick them up. He was supposed to give them to Wayne 20 minutes ago. There isn't time for this.
"Major Queen, sir! I-"
"Who the hell are you?" Oliver asks, looking the guy up and down. He's young, innocent. This isn't gonna go so well.
"Um, Barry Allen, sir!" he says, stooping down to help him with the papers.
"You new?" Oliver asks gruffly, straightening up once they're done.
"Yes, sir!"
Oliver has a headache, and it's not just from the gunfire maybe two miles ahead of them. "Please stop talking so chipper."
"Sorry...sir." He even looks sheepish. Oliver takes pity on him.
"You don't have to call me 'sir'. Makes me feel like my old man."
"...Okay."
Oliver sighs. The kid's not gonna survive a second. "Wipe that wariness from your face. You have to remember that this is war, Allen."
Allen holds his gun tight in his hands and nods slowly. "Yes, si- yes. I entered the draft for a reason." He clears his throat a little, awkward.
Smartass, Oliver thinks, a little sadly. "You don't know war until you've been in it."
"With all due respect, this is exactly what I signed up for."
Oliver shakes his head, a mirthless little smile on his face. "No it isn't." He runs a hand through his hair, and looks at Allen intently - at this idiotically naive boy he might never see again. "Some word of advice, Allen," he says quietly. Allen's eyes widen and he looks so young that Oliver might scream at the world right then and there.
"Nobody survives the war as they are. You gotta take some of this...wide-eyed idealism and lock it down, lock it tight so it never sees the light of day. When you get back home," if you get back home, "you can figure out how to open that part of you again. But for now," Oliver sighs, "for now, there's no need for it. This life changes people; war changes people. Accept that, and move on."
Allen nods a little, numb. Oliver pats his shoulder before walking away to prepare some more, to make sure as many of his men survive this as possible.
He hopes Allen's one of them.
Earth 33
Sometimes Kara gets to report on normal, non-alien stuff, like the scene of a robbery.
It soon becomes apparent that this isn't just any robbery.
Whoever had done it must've been super strong to get through that door.
"Hi!" she says, greeting a man standing inside the yellow tape. "Are you part of the NCPD? I was wondering if I could ask you some questions? I'm a reporter from CatCo."
The man blinks. "Uh...I'm actually not from the NCPD." Kara's brows furrow together. "Barry Allen," he says, extending a hand for her to shake. She does. "CSI from CCPD."
"What's a guy from Central City doing all the way over here?" she asks him with an easy smile.
He shrugs, putting his hands in his pockets. "I'm consulting. Cases like these catch my eye."
"'Cases like these?'"
"Y'know, cases with...unexplained elements."
"Really?" she asks, raising her eyebrows.
"Yeah." He smiles sheepishly. "Let's just say I've dealt with these types of cases in the past. Central City's dealing with a whole string of them."
Kara...is getting completely off-topic. "Like what?"
Barry looks flustered. "Um - just, stuff. People with super strength, for one; a man in lightning, too." He runs a hand through his hair. "I'm...actually getting nowhere."
A small part of her thinks this is a bad idea, but Kara's never been one to not do something she really wants to do. It's literally in her genes. "I think I can help you with that."
Earth X
"I am not very sure about this," he says once the man leaves in bolts of red lightning. "It seems...extremely easy. A man like him has secrets - ulterior motives."
The Fuhrer runs a hand through his hair and sighs. It is an open sign of exhaustion, of weakness, and he feels honored to be a witness of it. "We do not have many options," he says.
They simultaneously turn towards Kara, who glares right back at them despite her weakening physicality. "It would not do to risk the integrity of the entire Reich for my sake," she reminds them.
"My love-"
"I am not a damsel in distress," she interrupts her husband sharply. "I will do what is necessary to protect the Reich, even at the cost of my own life."
A fight between the two leaders of the regime would not be good. He steps between them, arms out to placate. "I was simply raising some concerns. He has readily offered his help, but that does not mean he will betray us. However, we do need to be prepared, just in case; we need a contingency."
"Any hints of betrayal, and we kill him," Kara offers.
"No, no. That would be too harsh," Oliver says. "Do you have a death wish?"
Kara purses her lips. "Perhaps I do. It would certainly explain why my heart has been failing me." She...does not seem to be speaking entirely of her physical health.
Oliver steps back as if struck. He growls and turns to the ceiling as if it will save him. They stand in silence for a few moments.
"You have similar powers to his," Kara points out slowly. He bites his lip at the sudden attention. "You would easily defeat him in battle if he were to betray us."
"I am...not so sure about that," he says.
"Of course you would! You are one of our best fighters!" Oliver tells him with an easy smile, as if the tension isn't palpable.
"I - I don't-"
"Bartholomew, do you not trust your Fuhrer?" Oliver asks him. No, I trust my friend. "Have I ever lead us astray before?"
"No," he answers, mouth suddenly dry. "Never."
Here is the problem: the man - Eobard Thawne - reminds Bartholomew of the one who murdered his mother all those years ago.
He had apprehended and murdered that man a few years back.
So why and how has he come back, with the same name but not the same face?
(He can't help but be reminded of his mother - of her smile and her laughter. Then he quickly sweeps the memory under the metaphorical carpet; this is the regime, after all, and it is no place for softness.)
They soon learn that he is a traveler from another Earth - one secret.
They learn that he plans for them to invade another Earth (The same Earth as his?) to get Kara a new heart - another thing kept from them.
When the Fuhrer looks to him for advice, Bartholomew decides to plant his first seeds of doubt.
Why must they travel so far? Wouldn't that expend their resources? Why this Earth, and not any other? Why not attack when Kara's doppelganger is alone and without allies? Why is he so focused on this particular Earth?
Is he using them?
His seeds grow. Kara is close to authorizing him to take...necessary measures to protect the Reich; Oliver is close to stopping the plan of attack altogether.
He should have been more careful; Eobard Thawne knows where all of these questions are stemming from.
Four days later, Bartholomew Henry Allen, the Fuhrer's right-hand man, dies in an unfortunate accident.
The Reverse Flash offers his condolences, and steps up to help.
Earth 70
Bruce smiles. Kate is...suddenly feeling very wary, because her cousin never smiles.
He hands her a package, which she opens carefully. Her jaw drops. Inside is her very own batsuit.
When she looks up in shock, all he says is, "I think you're ready."
"You don't have to look so smug about it."
Earth 446
"Your cousin is the Flash?!" Felicity shrieks.
Dig throws up his hands and says, "Yes!" for the nth time.
Oliver is leaning against the wall, very amused and not hiding it. "You're not helping," Dig tells him. Oliver shrugs unrepentantly.
"Oh! You know Barry Allen, the CSI?" Felicity asks.
"The guy Oliver was jealous of?" Dig clarifies. Oliver glares at him, but he deserved it.
"Yeah! He got struck by lightning, too! But he just got a stutter."
Earth 340
"Initiating landing in three...two...one..." The spaceship lands soundly. She waits a few seconds for something to bleep or go wrong, but nothing does. Lena closes her eyes and barks out the loudest laugh.
No way. No way! There are buildings on this planet - actual infrastructure.
She's on an alien planet (a hopefully not hostile one)! She's going to meet an alien civilization!
The readings say that the atmosphere is similar to Earth's, so she comes out without her spacesuit lest the aliens think that all humans dress that way.
And there, right in front of her, is a young woman with blond hair, kind eyes, and an even kinder smile. These aliens are more humanoid than she had imagined. "From which planet do you hail from?" the woman asks, voice clear.
"Earth," she answers promptly. Home is a long way from here.
"And what is your name, traveler?"
"Lena...Luthor." She smiles and tries to look as friendly as possible. On the inside, she's still freaking out.
The woman smiles wider, so she thinks she made a good first impression. "Lena Luthor of Earth, I am Kara Zor-El. Welcome to Krypton."
Earth 472
"Where the hell is backup?!" she screams. She can not be dealing with this group of looters alone.
Of course, she gets the worst backup imaginable. "Lance. Fancy meeting you here."
"Snart," she greets back anyways, watching as he gets his gun out from his holster and starts shooting at the store. Unfortunately, they shoot back, so the two of them duck behind her already beat-up car.
"You pick the shortest straw to get this shift or what?" she asks.
He snorts. "There ain't enough people to draw straws. I was the only one in the precinct." Reasonable. Their police force is only eight people, last she'd checked.
Doesn't mean she has to like it, though. "We need more people," she mutters. "And funding."
Snart shoots a few rounds before having to reload. "This damn town doesn't even have an official firefighting force. What makes you think we'll get anything?"
Speaking of which, "Who's dealing with that fire at the Wu's house?" At this rate, the building's probably burnt down to a husk.
She manages to get a few lucky shots in, which causes Snart to scowl and try harder. "I think Rory went to deal with it," he answers eventually.
Sara stops shooting abruptly, ignoring the slowly surrendering looters. "Who thought sending the semi-reformed pyromaniac was a good idea?!"
Snart shrugs, an innocent look on his face. Sara wants to punch him. Hard. The bastard.
Earth 222
Nora turned 10 today.
10.
Today marks 10 years of her life that Barry didn't see. Today marks 10 years of their daughter's life that Barry couldn't see.
Today marks 10 more years of Nora's life that Barry won't see.
The secret, amplified by the guilt, is eating at her.
She makes her decision.
"Nora, baby? Come over here," she calls out, twisting her fingers together a little.
Nora's bright face comes towards her, and she can't help but smile, too. "What is it, Mom?" Iris untwists her fingers to run a hand through her daughter's curls.
"I have something to tell you," she says softly, kneeling down to Nora's eye level. Nora just waits patiently for her to continue.
God, what had she done to get such a wonderful daughter?
"Your dad, he-" She cuts herself off with a swallow, a grimace. The pain is still raw, somehow, but she pushes it down when Nora's face twists in concern. "He...wasn't exactly the Flash's #1 Fan."
Now, Nora's face twists in confusion. "What do you mean? I thought you said...I don't get it."
Iris doesn't want to break her daughter's heart, but now is the time to tell the truth. "You're old enough to know, now, that Dad was the Flash himself. So he was his #1 Fan, in a way."
Nora's eyes widen almost comically (had it been any other situation).
She has Barry's eyes.
Iris pushes away the grief.
Earth 287
Caitlin raises her eyebrows, walking towards Cisco and his latest project. "What are you working on?"
He looks up, hair swinging dramatically. "Well I'm glad you asked! It's a-"
A blue portal explodes to life beside them. They jump back a few feet.
A very familiar figure walks out of the portal.
She gapes at the sight; Cisco opens and closes his mouth, but nothing comes out.
That's probably because the guy who came out of the portal looks a lot like him, except with slightly shorter hair and weird goggles on his face.
Said guy stares at the two of them - specifically Cisco - for a few seconds before saying, "This isn't my Earth, is it?"
Wait...'my Earth'? "Evidently not?" Caitlin tries. Are there other Earths? Ohmygosh, is the multiverse theory true?
Cisco - her Cisco - nods multiple times in quick succession.
Cisco - other Cisco - smiles sheepishly and steps back towards the portal. "I'ma just...go now." And then he leaves.
Caitlin turns towards the only Cisco there now. "You don't happen to have a twin, do you?"
Earth 267
It's a beautiful day.
It's snowing, but not too much. Flakes are stuck in her hair and in Barry's. An inch of white softens their every footstep.
And Barry is knelt before her, a ring in his hands. "Caitlin I-can't-remember-your-middle-name-at-this-moment Snow. Will you marry me?" He smiles softly, hopefully.
Caitlin is stunned speechless, staring at Barry in wonderment. Barry takes her silence...somewhat negatively.
"Oh, no. I mean, I had this all planned out! Proposing to Caitlin Snow in the snow."
She laughs. "You're such a dork."
"Is...is that a 'yes'?" he asks hesitantly.
She nods enthusiastically. Her smile almost splits her face. "Of course, you dork. I love you. So much."
Barry's laughter is full of joy, his eyes full of love. "Love you too, Cait. Oh, here." He tries to place the ring on her finger, but it ends up slipping through his fingers and into the snow instead.
Barry's look of horror is hilarious. "Oh no! Barry - Barr, it's okay! You-" She can't stop laughing. "Don't look so sad. You can find it!"
"It's gonna take forever! It's not like I have super speed or anything," he grumbles, but immediately starts digging in the snow with a pout. He'd deny it, but it's definitely a pout.
It's adorable. He's adorable.
Earth 231
Beth looks at the red gem in Alice's dagger.
Slowly, she shifts her gaze to the identical red gem in her own necklace.
Impossible. "Kate?" she breathes out.
In this world, Beth survives that car accident instead of Kate.
It changes nothing. (It changes everything.)
Earth 77
Winn loves singing with all his heart. His velvet tones never fail to impress. And he lets the music sweep him off of his feet.
He closes his eyes, and ignores everyone else in the room.
He's a bit of a loner, sure; but music is all he needs.
Across the restaurant, Kara listens with all her heart.
She listens, and thinks she could fall asleep to that voice, thinks it could propel her into the sky.
With this music, maybe she could fly into the stars.
Earth 80
Joe's heart is heavy; his shoulders have an indeterminable amount of weight on them.
His eyes are dry, but that's just because he's all cried out.
They meet in a private room, the two of them. Joe had pulled some strings.
No father deserves to hear this news.
Henry must see it in his eyes. "What is it?" he asks. Joe opens his mouth, but can't seem to speak. "Damn it, what happened to my boy?"
There's agony in his voice. Joe - still can't seem to speak.
Barry was his boy, too.
Henry's crying now, and Joe hasn't even said a word.
I'm sorry, he wants to say.
I failed, he wants to say.
Barry's dead, he can't say.
Oh, god. Barry's dead.
Barry's dead, and it's all his fault.
(Despite claims to the contrary, Joe West is an ordinary human being, and couldn't have possibly stopped that lightning bolt from hitting its mark.
Parents tend to feel guilty, anyways.)
Earth 578
Barry joins her at their usual lunch table. The chaos of high school is more...muted, when he's around.
Barry smirks. "I saw that."
"Saw what?" she shoots back.
"Your heart eyes. You, my friend, have a crush."
She blushes, which immediately gives herself away. Damn you, teenage emotions. "I do not."
"Yes you do. It's obvious."
Barry's smart, too smart. Felicity gives up. "It's Oliver Queen, okay? He's cute."
Barry points to said crush, sitting a few tables away. "That Oliver Queen?"
She swats his arm down before they catch anyone's attention. "Yes!"
He turns towards her. "The rich kid jock?" he asks incredulously.
"He's nicer than you think," she says defensively, crossing her arms. "That's just a front."
"Uh-huh."
"Oh no. You don't get to judge! How's your ongoing crush with Iris?"
He blushes, face beet red. She's got him beat. "She knows I exist, at least. We're working on a project together for English class."
Felicity nods approvingly. "You have a chance."
He raises his eyebrows. "And you don't?"
She glares at him. "Have you seen me?" She gestures at her utterly bland self.
He rolls his eyes. "Believe it or not, I have. That Oliver Queen guy doesn't know what he's missing." He pauses. "Though you could do a bit better."
She laughs at that. "Stop. It's a crush for a reason. It's not like I can control who I'm pining for; and even if I could, I wouldn't want to because love is weird and then it wouldn't be a crush, would it?"
He shrugs, biting into his sandwich. Always a slow eater, that one.
"Promise me something?" she asks quickly.
"What?"
"If you somehow get together with Iris and I somehow turn my crush into a full-on romance, we will have a double wedding." He blinks. "Or maybe not. It's kinda a ridiculous idea. Who even does double weddings? I mean, it would be nice-"
"Felicity," he says, halting her word vomiting, "I would love to possibly have a double wedding with you. You're my best friend."
"Oh," she says. Warmth blossoms in her chest. "I'm glad. Pinky promise?"
She holds out her pinky, and he shakes it with his own.
It's settled.
Earth 102
Screams permeate the air. The metal above them creaks.
And Barry's stuck under a beam.
Oliver rushes to do anything - to lift it up or pull him out or do something but he can't! He can't.
He lets out an anguished sigh. (It can't possibly hurt to try.)
Barry, whom he's known for years by now, seems to follow his train of thought. "No no no Oliver, get yourself to safety," he says desperately, voice raw. There's pain in his eyes, and in his voice.
"We're not leaving each other!" Oliver growls out, trying again and again. His bloody hands scrabble at the rubble.
"Please, Ollie," Barry pleads to him. They meet eyes, and Oliver - Oliver freezes.
This isn't something they can shoot their way out of.
This isn't something they had signed up for.
They're perfectly human, and this isn't something that can be stopped.
This is something that happens suddenly.
The building collapses.
(Captain Lance watches from outside as two of his best men lose their lives.)
(Officers Kent and Danvers arrest Lex Luthor, the terrorist responsible, with maybe a little more force than necessary.)
(Officer Ramon is not looking forward to breaking the news to the two widows left behind.)
(Ms. Smoak - technical analyst - already knows.)
(Ms. West-Allen takes a leave of absence.)
Earth 475
"So...are you related to Supergirl?" Ms. Grant asks.
Clark, newest superhero on the block, sighs and resists the urge to simply fly away and leave her hanging.
"Why do you guys keep asking me that?"
"So you are!"
"Please kill me now."
"I would if I could."
Earth 163
The people talk, sometimes, in short whispers and concerned glances.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen swore that they had seen a man in lightning murder their child.
Some people think they're covering for one another, other people believe their minds made it all up in their grief, yet others are adamant that an entirely different person had committed the deed and had framed the poor parents.
Sara doesn't really know what to think. She just wants her friend back.
Earth 602
"Kate. Kate!"
"What?" she asks, turning towards her sister.
Beth has that disapproving look on her face again. She crosses her arms and asks for the millionth time, "Why are we here?"
Kate shrugs. "I just wanted to explore."
"IN A CAVE?"
Kate throws her hands up in the air. "Why not?!"
"I dunno, maybe because it's full of bats?! You could get rabies or something!"
Kate rolls her eyes, turns around, and continues to walk. Beth can be such a scaredy-cat sometimes. "I heard that!"
"I didn't say anything!" Kate protests.
Beth rolls her eyes and says, "You didn't have to. I know you. This," she gestures at the two of them, "is what you call 'twin telepathy'."
Kate blinks. "That doesn't exist."
"Well how do you know?" Beth smirks, but at least she isn't complaining anymore.
"I'm a twin. I would know." She walks away from Beth to hopefully gain some distance between the two of them. Their voices echo from the cavern walls.
"How do you know if they haven't been - I dunno - activated yet?" Beth asks from where she left her. Kate frowns, turning on her flashlight and shining it at the ceiling. A bunch of bats screech and fly away.
Beth continues talking; Kate ignores her.
"There have been studies and stuff. Maybe we do have some telepathy but you keep ignoring me as always!"
Kate rolls her eyes. "Ugh. I don't know how I survived nine months with you in Mom's-"
"Kate?!"
The slight panic gives her pause. She immediately turns around and runs towards her sister's voice. "Beth?! What is it?"
When she gets closer, she sees that Beth is okay, if a little shocked. She turns her head towards Kate, eyes wide, and says, "I think Bruce is Batman."
That...had not been what Kate was expecting. "Beth," she says slowly, "Bruce is our super rich, super annoying, and perfectly normal cousin. Why do you think-"
Beth puts her hands on her shoulders and turns her around.
Kate's jaw drops. "Okay. Bruce is Batman."
"That's what I said!"
In hindsight, Bruce probably should've hidden his suit better.
Earth 351
"And now I pronounce you: husband and wife." Barry's smiling, Iris is smiling, everyone's smiling.
It's perfect.
"You may now kiss the bride." Barry does; and even though they've done so countless of times before, this one is special.
He can't imagine marrying anyone else.
(So wrapped up in the spectacle, nobody sees Cisco's expression of utter relief.)
Afterwards, Iris says, "A perfectly normal wedding where nothing went wrong. How 'bout that?" Barry, of course, leans in for another kiss because that man is utterly lovestruck.
"Yeah, yeah," Cisco agrees with a nervous laugh. "Can you believe that I vibed a bunch of Nazis or something interrupting the wedding?" They all turn to stare at him. "Whoo! Am I glad that didn't happen," he continues, suddenly self-conscious. "Must've been some wacky dream."
Earth 235
The Christmas ornaments mock him with their brightness.
The Christmas decorations mock him with their happiness.
Who the hell plays Christmas music in a hospital waiting room?!
The doctor comes in then, and Oliver stands to meet him. His scrubs are covered in blood; Oliver looks down to see his shaking hands covered in it, too.
Covered in her blood.
Oliver looks up again to see the doctor shake his head with a grimace, with sadness - and he doesn't get to feel that way when he doesn't know her!
Didn't. Didn't know her.
Oliver - can't seem to move. The doctor continues talking and Dig's hand is on his back but he. Can't. Move.
The Green Arrow is a fighter. He gets back up when he's knocked down, he protects the city, he tends to keep on moving even when the whole world is against him.
Oliver is frozen.
He doesn't feel like the Green Arrow at this moment.
Without her, will he ever be again?
Earth 10
The new girl in Mr. Henshaw's first grade class has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Her glasses fit a bit weirdly on her face but her smile is kind.
Winn...might have a bit of a crush on her.
As the only nerdy, rambling kids in the class, they become friends quite easily. Kara has the cutest laughter; and even though Winn's only seven, he thinks he's warming up to love already.
"I think Mon-El has a crush on you," he tells her one day, which is true, considering the amount of times he's caught him staring at her.
I have a crush on you, too! he's secretly telling her at the same time. He hopes she knows how to read between the lines.
She doesn't.
"Oh. Him?" she asks, pointing directly at Mon-El when he was trying to be discreet. Mon-El immediately blushes and focuses on his work.
"Yeah," he says. "Do you know any other Mon-El's?" Kara's weird sometimes, like when she asked him what pepperoni was and when he had to show her how to swing on the swings. She's weird, but she can't be this weird, can she?
Kara purses her lips. "His parents are mortal enemies with my parents, so I'm supposed to have as little contact with him as possible."
Winn blinks. Okay then.
Earth 589
"If you run fast enough, you can - whoosh - create a temporal breach into an alternate universe," Harrison is saying.
Barry - is worried. "You're saying the lives of everyone here depends on the theoretical existence of the multiverse?" he asks. They're dealing with a dystopian society here - the literal Fates have enslaved the world! Barry should be out there, helping!
Instead, he's going to be running away to some other universe? To get help? What if they decide not to help?
Harrison sighs. "Yes, Barry. You're our only hope."
That's way too much pressure on him, and he says as much. Harrison's hands provide a very light weight on his shoulders as he guides him towards the particle accelerator, away from the windows and the outside world where his family and friends could be dying.
"How do we know this is even going to work?" he asks, panicking, trying not to panic - this is no time to panic. "How do we know there even is a multiverse?" There are so many things they haven't accounted for!
There are so many things they can't account for.
Harrison, his mentor turned friend, looks him in the eye and says, "There's only one way to find out."
Special thanks to the random number generator lol.
Earth 85: I just want to clarify that the Green Arrow's somehow Robert Queen in that universe.
Earth 33: Originally going to be Earth 38 (wherein Kara is like, oh! This is my version of Barry Allen), but then I realized that, after Crisis, Supergirl is now on Earth Prime along with the other heroes.
Earth X: I just needed an explanation for why Barry didn't have an evil doppelganger.
Earth 446: Totally not the 1st thing I thought of for this fic. Naw, of course not!
Earth 472: For some reason, I imagined some town in the Wild West where they all wear cowboy hats and Sara's a kickass sheriff.
Earths 267 & 351: I ship both Snowbarry and WestAllen. Deal with it, ya crazy shippers!
Earth 77: Stems from my unhealthy obsession with Jeremy Jordan. Also, Kara's a regular human in this, I think.
Earth 235: If it's not that clear, Felicity's dead. She's the one who died during that creepy Christmas music (episode 4x09 of Arrow, I think).
Also, Happy Easter (to those who celebrate)!
