Hey guys! I decided I was bored today and wanted to start another story. So here's the first chapter! For my other story, Time is of the Essence I've been updating that every week, so hopefully I'll be able to do the same with this. This is my first time writing about Katniss and Peeta's kids and future, so you'll have to tell me what you think. (Yes, this chapter's short, most of my chapters are, and I hope that's okay, haha :)

Mutts. Mutts everywhere. Mutts surrounding me. I have to get away.

All the mutts part down the middle, and one familiar mutt walks towards me. He has blonde hair and bright blue eyes, but his eyes are crazed and he looks evil. It's me.

I sat up with a jolt, breathing hard. That was one of the recurring nightmares I'd been having lately. At least Katniss wasn't in it this time, running away from me.

Katniss jolted upwards. One thing about the games- they'd made us very alert. There could be the tiniest sound and Katniss and I would both wake up. And we always knew when the other had woken up from nightmares. It was something you could only have after two Hunger Games and nineteen years of marriage together. "Peeta, are you okay?"

I rubbed my eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine, sorry, just a nightmare. Go back to sleep." I laid down and patted my outstretched arm, waiting for her to lay back down as well.

She laid down and snuggled up close to me. "It's alright. I get them too." Her voice broke at the end with a large yawn, and she was asleep. I smiled softly as I remembered that day so many years ago when I had said the same thing to her. That was one of the memories that hadn't been tampered with by the Capitol.

At some point I must've fallen asleep, because when I woke, the sky was a light blue and rays of light shone through the windows. I pulled my arm as gently as I could from beneath Katniss's head and walked out of the room. She'd be mad I didn't wake her up when I woke, but it was alright. She'd be awake soon enough to go hunting.

A scent of freshly baked bread hung in the air. I'd made some bread last night, and that was what I planned on doing now. I did it every morning. You could never have too much bread. The extra bread we didn't eat I sold at the bakery.

After a few minutes there was a sound at the hallway. Wiping the flour off my hands on my apron, I went to go check. Cassia stumbled out of her room, rubbing her bright blue eyes. They were my eyes, her messy dark hair was Katniss's.

I kneeled down, grinning. "There's the birthday girl! How old are you today again?"

She giggled and ran to me, wrapping her arms around my neck and sitting on my knee. "Silly Daddy. I'm five today!"

"Oh are you really?" I teased her, tickling her stomach. "How can that be? You were just a baby last time I remember."

She giggled again, stood up, and in her small hands grabbed the sides of my face so I was looking right at her. "Daddy, I have something very important to ask you." She tilted her head. "Can I go to the bakery with you today?"

"Well…" I said slowly. "It is your birthday.., so… yes. But only if Mommy says yes." Of course, at that, Cassia ran down the hall to where Katniss was sleeping. I hurried after her as fast as my prosthetic leg would allow. When I got to the room, I arrived just in time to see Cassia jump on Katniss. "Mommy! Mommy! Wake up!"

Katniss sat up immediately, just like she had during the night. "What is it Cassie?"

"Can I go to the bakery with Daddy today?"

"Oh." Katniss rubbed her head and looked at me. I shrugged. "Well...you don't want to go hunting with me?"

Cassia blushed. "I just want to go help Daddy with the baking stuff today!"

"Well, I guess if Daddy says you can go with him you can go."

"Yay!"

Cassia jumped off the bed and ran out of the room. Katniss threw her legs over the side of the bed and started pulling on her hunting boots that had been stationed there.

"There's Sleeping Beauty," I grinned as she walked closer to me.

"You should've woken me." She grumbled.

"Well, you needed it," I said, patting her round tummy. It was getting bigger every day. It wouldn't be long before Cassia had another sibling. "You know, you really shouldn't be hunting like this."

She glared at me and started down the hall after Cassia.

Cassia was sitting politely at the table. I moved the unfinished dough onto one of the counters and started slicing the bread, then handed a slice to both Katniss and Cassia.

Katniss grabbed it, gave me a quick peck on the lips and left to go hunting.

I set my hands on the table and stared at Cassia. "You ready to go sweetheart?"

"Lets go, lets go!" And she grabbed my hand and we walked hand in hand out of the door.

First chapter down! What did you think? What about Cassia, have any thoughts about her? I love you all! Thanks for reading! See you next week!
