This story is a crazy mixture between my favorite series and my absolute favorite movie/book. Can you guess which ones?

Full Description: The Academy for the young and gifted is a place founded by William Forbes who adopted several children with powers they received as a result of their unusual birth. Their purpose; saving the world from evil.
Selena being the only one without powers, feels like an outsider. Feeling dismissed by her family at the academy she finds herself getting close to one young man who seems to be the only one seeing her for her and not the failed one of her incredible siblings.
Soon after getting together with Kai she realizes that he is not who she thought he was...
Kai with the ability to absorb others' powers takes on her family and opens up a portal to get to a place and time where magic is everywhere.
The gang follows him through a portal and ends up into the past in Middle Earth.
Separated from her family in Middle Earth Selena sets out on a quest to find Kai and protect Frodo and the ring from coming into his power hungry hands. Because for some reason she is the only one who is not affected by his abilities.

Chapter 1
Shit, shit, shit! How could I have been so stupid! I thought in panic as I was running down the empty streets. Running the last block I finally saw the building with the big letters on top, "The Academy for The Young and Gifted".
Running up to the grand entrance door, I took one shaky breath to gather myself before pushing the heavy door open. Hearing the door give a loud creaking sound I knew the chance of me walking in unnoticed was slim. With that thought I slowly and carefully walked through the foyer and towards the main paroul where I could hear a loud thud of a body hitting the floor and followed by the sound of an sinister laugh.
Frozen in the opening of the parlor I gasped, not caring anymore of being seen. The room was a mess with furniture tossed around the room and glass shards all over the marble floor.
Before me I saw Matt and Julia lying crouched down behind the flipped over dining table, Julia bleeding from a gash on her temple, slowly coloring her blond hair red.
On the right of them I could see Shay and Klaus trying to hide behind the bar and in the middle of the room, standing tall stod Kai.
No trace of the loving and sweet Kai I was laughing with only hours ago. No, this Kai had a cruel smile with cold calculating eyes.
"So you decided to join the party I see," Kai said with his charming british accent and turned to me. Looking at him it was not hard to see why a girl like her would fall so fast and stupidly for him. He was a handsome man, with his tall limber body, dark curly hair and deep blue eyes. Why are all the handsome men always the worst? I thought to myself angrily, feeling the weight of the situation.
"Of course I am here, I am the life of every party. But how rude of you to leave me behind, I thought that leaving a girl was bad manners and all, '' I said with an unsteady voice, trying to calm down my racing heart.
Kai laughed and lifted his arm wide. "Well as you can see the party is not over yet, or what do you say Enzo?" he said stepping to his left. Making it possible for me to see my twin brother laying on the floor with his two throwing knives on either side of him.
"Enzo,'' I called in panic moving to him without thought. But Kai stopped me taking hold of my arms. I tried to wiggle free but his arms were like steel and would not budge.
"This one thought he could kill me with those pathetic knives." He said nodding to Enzo. "I thought more of the incredible heroes you call family, but I was wrong. How easy it was for me to just walk in here and take them down," he said with arrogance seeping from his voice.
"And all thanks to you my sweet Selena," he whispered in my ear, making goosebumps appear on my arms.
"Why?" I could not stop myself from asking, feeling my walls crumbling and tears gathering in my eyes.
"For us of course," He said as if it was obvious. "I'm surprised you're not thanking me for this, did you not just yesterday complain about their ignorance and dismissal of you. They don't deserve you. You could be my queen and we could have the world, you and me together my love."
I looked into his eyes in shock searching for something to tell me that this was not real. But no, he was serious.
He was right though, about me complaining about my family. Because growing up being the only one without powers in the academy for the young and gifted was not easy but not an excuse for why this was happening.
The academy was founded by our father and headmaster William Forbes after he adopted five newborn babies. Children born the same day, same time and with the same circumstances. The circumstances being that their mothers only became pregnant one hour before birthing the children. Due to this many mothers decided to leave their children in William Forbes care, scared of witchcraft or even worse, the devil was the cause behind the strange births.
All the children soon showed signs of different unusual powers. Julia, the ability to heal herself and other people with just one touch, Matt with his super strength and impenetrable skin, Shay with the ability to travel through time and space and Klaus with the ability to talk to the dead.
Selena and Enzo being twins was born the same way as the others but in a small village in Colombia. Even though she was shocked their mother was thrilled to have two babies to care for and would not give them away.
But as time passed Enzo started to show signs of powers. The power to use any object as a weapon with a perfect aim, never missing his mark.
Being contacted again by the headmaster of the academy after four years, Enzo's and Selena's mother agreed to let them go to the academy to learn about their powers. Though Selena showed no sign of powers Mr Forbes was certain it was only a matter of time.
As time went on there was still no sign of Selena possessing a power. Because of this Selena felt like an outsider. Always on the sidelines while her brothers and sister were saving people like superheroes. And even when visiting their mother in Colombia Selena did not fit in.
So when a handsome long and dark stranger showed up at the coffeeshop she worked at with a smile and a persuasive charm she knew that saying no to a date with him wasn't an option, she needed this. Never had one been so interested, caring and loving as Kai was to her and it was not long after that she fell for him, hard.
Soon after they got together Kai wanted to meet her family in the academy. Her gut told her that his darkened eyes and his persistence was not a good sign. But being in love makes you do stupid things.
After meeting her family and seeing for himself their dismissal behaviour towards Selena, Kai started putting his plan into motion. A plan that had been lurking a long time in his mind.
So just a few minutes before they were going to a planned family dinner at the academy Kai locked her in her bedroom and told her that it was time for her family to get what they deserved, to know what it was like to feel completely powerless.
Not knowing what he had meant but feeling the anger rolling off of him she knew she had to stop him.
"How are you doing this? This is insane! Stop this!" I said with anger once again bubbling up.
"My my, how little you know of me and my abilities, but let me demonstrate." Kai said while releasing me and lifting his hands and focusing on Matt who had just found his feet again and with determined steps was running fist high towards Kai. Kai's hands gave off a light orange glow and Matt fell to his knees gasping for air. Kai took hold of Matt's big form and lifted him up by the neck like he weighed nothing.
"You see, I have the power to absorb the power of others, even the power of life. And your dear family here have an immensely amount of power." He said, drooping Matt on the floor next to Enzo.
"But enough chit chat, where is your time traveler of a brother."
Looking around I again noticed Klaus and Shay behind the bar with pale faces. Kai started walking towards them.
"Noo'' I said, taking hold of him. He gently but firmly pushed me to the floor beside Matt and Enzo. Looking at Enzo again my heart clenched. This was all my fault. If I had just trusted my first instinct while meeting Kai and if I had just kept my stupid mouth shut. But no, I had to ruin everything.
"Enzo, can you hear me?" I whisper desperately.
Enzo slowly looked up at me with hazy eyes. Pushing slowly and discreetly one of his knives for me to grab. As fast as I could I took the knife and hid it in my sleeve.
Looking back at Kai I saw how he took a hold of Klaus and threw him across the floor towards us. Everyone's eyes locked on Kai and Shay. Shay with his short and shaky limbs tried to duck away from Kai but with no luck.
He took Shay by the shirt and dragged him to the middle of the room right across from the heap of body's on the floor. With glowing hands he started to absorb Shay's power. Shay pale as a sheet struggled against Kais hold and was soon released and thrown to the floor.
With a smile and closed eyes Kai tilted his head back and took a big inhale through his nose in bliss.
"Oh my.. to feel all your powers through my veins is euphoric." He breathed out and started making an orange glow appear in a swirling circle. Making a portal with the power he absorbed from Shay.
"But now my dear Selena it is time for better and bigger things." He said reaching out a hand for me to take.
"No, I will not go with you. Please stop this right now!" I yelled at him. But he just laughed and turned his attention back to the portal.
As all of us got up on our feet. Standing close together. Enzo once again threw his knife at Kai so fast I could barely see it. My voice stuck in my throat in a silence warning to Kai. But the knife pushed off Kai like a piece of rubber and landed on the floor with a clink. Eyes wide in horror, I looked between the knife and Kai. It should have killed him, Enzo's aim as always was true and would have hit him right in the back on his left side.
Kai laughed turning around to look at us "Thanks to mister steel here" Kai said pointing to Matt who was breathing hard next to me. "I have his impenetrable skin and his super strength" To demonstrate Kai took up the knife and threw it across the room and through the wall behind us passing just an inch away from Enzo's face. "and of course Enzo's little tricks with knives." He finished with a clap of his hands.
"Well this has been fun but it is time to go". He said looking at me expectantly.
"No", both me and Enzo said at the same time, and seeing how Matt and Enzo pushed me behind them, Kai raised his voice in anger.
"Enough of this Selena, come now or else!" Kai threatened and raised his glowing hands, making Klaus and Shay gasp for air and Matt and Enzo to fall down on their knees.
"So this is it, how poetic that you all were born the same day and time and shall also die together the same day and time" Kai said with a sinister smile.
"No leave them alone! I will go with you, just don't hurt them" I begged Kai. He looked me in the eyes and slowly put his hands down. I could hear the deep breaths of relief from my family behind me.
"Wise choice, my love." he said with eyes locked in mine as he got close to me.
"Where are you taking us?" I said with a shaky voice. Slowly letting the knife slide down from my sleeve and into my hand behind my back.
"To a place and time where magic is everywhere" he said, turning to the portal.
Getting closer to the portal I looked behind me just noticing Julia coming up behind Kai fast with a hard look in her eyes and with a broom in her hands. Kai turns around just in time to block Julia. But it was the perfect distraction. With all the force I could muster I pushed the knife in his side making him yell in surprise and pain and turn to me.
And a moment later Julia made contact with Kais back and sent him flying forward into the portal.
And just like that he was gone.
One breath.
Two breaths.
Three breaths.
I counted in my head. Trying to not have a panic attack now when the adrenaline was wearing off.
"Well that was intense, very dramatic fellow you got there sister" Klaus spoke up first with his slurred speech.
"What have I done?" I said to no one in particular.
"You have doomed us all is what you have done" Yelled Enzo who stepped close to my face. Now back to his full strength.
"How could you do this to your own family?"
"I didn't know," I said with a small voice.
"Leave her be, have you never been in love Enzo? You do stupid things when you are in love. And Selena is no different" Klaus said.
"No one asked for romantic advice from a drunk." Enzo fired back.
Enzo started pacing the room and shaking his head, muttering under his breath. While Klaus sighed and walked over to the liquid cabinet.
"What are we going to do now?" Matt asks while helping Julia with her wound on her forehead. Why Julia had not just healed herself was concerning.
"Yes, what are we going to do? What would father have said? How much of a disappointment we are, how we once again failed him. Maybe it is for the best that he is dead" Enzo shouted at us.
"We will do as we always do, fix this. Together as a family." Shay said while leaning heavily on the wall still looking sickly pale.
"How?" I asked "how are we going to stop someone who has the ability to take all of your powers?"
"Us not we Selena." Enzo said darkly. Looking at my twin brother I felt my stomach drop. Never have I seen him so furious at me. But he had all right to be furious at me. After all this was my fault.
"No, we, I can help. You saw me, I could hurt him when you couldn't" I said pointing at him.
"Yeah what was that all about?" Julia asked, speaking for the first time. Her wound slowly but surely knitting itself together underneath her fingertips.
"I don't know, maybe he didn't expect it and had his guard down." I responded.
"It doesn't matter, you are to stay out of this" Enzo said with finality in his voice. He turned to Shay. "We need to follow him immediately. Who knows what he will do if we do not stop him."
"Have you guys even recovered enough for this? I saw how he drained you." I said looking around me. Noticing Julia's bloody face and Shay's heavy breaths. Klaus nowhere to be found.
The only ones who seemed okay were Matt and Enzo who both looked at Shay. "We need to go now Shay, we have no choice."
"Yeah but I don't know maybe in an hour from now if I am to transport us all safely." Shay answered hesitantly.
"No, we don't have an hour." Matt said, standing tall with his six feet and six inches.
"We rest when we get there, when we know where he is so we can regroup." Enzo said.
"Okay I will try. But I'm not sure about this, I don't know which place he is in but I could feel how long back in time he went" Shay said standing up straight. Bringing his hand up so we could all see the blue light coming from his hands and the familiar swirling circle appear.
With shaky hands and sweat dripping from his forehead, Shay turned back to us. "It's done, but I can't hold it for long"
"Okay, time to go," Enzo said, going through the portal without any hesitation. Soon Matt followed with Julia on his tail. Klaus seemed to appear from nowhere and with a salute sign to me and a bottle of Captain Morgan in the other hand he joined the others through the portal. Soon it was only Shay and I left.
Shay turned to me to say goodbye. But he did not get the chance. I ran towards him pushing both him and me through the portal. Holding a firm grip around Shay I could feel us falling down towards the unknown.
