It was a sunny day in the Nakiri Mansion and inside we see two adults and two 6 year olds inside a kitchen.
Those two young kids would be the bearer of the God Tongue, Nakiri Erina, and the Son of the Asura, Yukihira Soma. Erina and Soma already had a bad feeling when they met and sensed chaos ensuing between them.
Their "war" started because of one word. "Disgusting" Erina states.
"What?! How is it disgusting?! Please do tell." Soma exclaims flabbergasted after hearing Erina say his Furikake Gohan was disgusting.
"I-I shouldn't have to tell you why it's disgusting, it's just some c-commoner dish anyway!" Erina retorts. Erina knew well it was delicious she just didn't want to admit it due to her name as the God Tongue being proven wrong by some 6 year old.
Soma took this personally and was angered. A dark aura surrounded him and Erina's as they started arguing with each other.
"At least I'm not some rich and bratty princess!" Soma shouted back.
"How dare you talk that way to the God Tongue you peasant!" Erina responded.
"This was probably a terrible idea wasn't it Senzaemon?" Joichiro asks with a sweat drop on his head. Senzaemon doesn't respond as he watches them argue like two dogs having a feeling it will go just fine between the two of them.
Erina and Soma decided they would avoid each other as much as possible. They wouldn't even spare glances at each other when around. When they talked they would always scowl at each other.
Everyday they trained hard and hard cooking so they could reach the top spot of Totsuki in the future when they enter the prestigious culinary academy. Erina and Soma also secretly trained to beat their nemesis one day to further prove who was the best chef.
Erina entered Totsuki in the middle school division while Soma would go and train with his dad around the world. When Soma was about to leave they didn't even say goodbye due to their chaotic relationship but deep down in the heart, Erina would miss Soma and Soma would miss Erina.
Erina would figure out how lonely it was now. No one to go up against in a cook-off. No one to argue with. She missed him. Soma felt the same in his apartment in the United States. They both would never admit it tough and still would hate each other.
High school soon came and both Soma and Erina have entered the High School Division easily, Erina passing middle school with flying colors while Soma passed the High School Entrance Exam from Nakiri Senzaemon himself without breaking a sweat.
Erina and Soma are finally reunited when Soma and his Dad visit the mansion. It took all of Erina and Soma's power not to just run up and hug each other. They manage not to though due to their rivalry.
Both of them however blush hard after seeing how much they both brew. Soma had grown into a fine handsome young man with a roguish charm in him with his scar, not to mention he had his well toned body visible when looking at his Yukihira Diner shirt.
Erina grew into a beautiful woman with blonde hair and golden locks. Along with her perfect skins and beautiful body. It was no wonder why most of the teenagers culinary world wanted to marry the beautiful blonde chef.
Joichiro and Senzaemon noticed the blush on both the teen's faces and chuckle.
Erina and Soma surprisingly greet each other showing respect to each other after not seeing each other for nearly 10 years, so that they show manners even though they STILL hate each other, that's what they thought. Deep down they missed their cook-offs, bickering, and company.
Soma settled into Totsuki arriving at Polar Star dorm and meeting new friends such as Tadokoro and Isshiki, who was the Seventh Seat of the Elite Ten. All the dorm members held him in high regard due to his cooking skill and who his father was.
Soma would be offered an Elite Ten Seat also, the 9th seat, after beating Eizan Etsuya in Shokugeki.
The rivalry and hate for each other between Erina and Soma would continue throughout the school year.
That was until Nakiri Azami came back and took over the spot of headmaster.
This is where the real story starts...
