So finally got myself writing a Giles/Jenny one-shot, in the earlier Seasons of Buffy they were definitely my favorite Buffyverse pairing (overall they come 7th in canon Buffyverse pairings for me behind Willow/Tara, Angel/Cordelia, Season 7 Buffy/Spike, Willow/Oz, Angel/Darla and Wesley/Lilah), and then it ended tragically.

Now while Jenny's death hurt a lot, it wasn't unnecessarily cruel at least, unlike some others *cough* Tara *cough*

Anyway, this is an AU where Jenny survives. Imagine Angelus got interrupted while killing her so he threw her off the roof and she went into a coma and then woke up by Season's end, thank you to Bl4ckHunter for that.

Anyway, this is going to be a series of one-shots, all being part of this 'Calendiles AU', and there will be at least 4.

This takes place in Buffy Season 3.

Rupert Giles and Jenny Calendar sat across from each other in a small time restaurant, this being their first proper date after the whole Angelus mess (regressing into teenagers from candy and having sex on top of a car twice didn't count, or maybe it did).

"What do you want to order?" Giles asked, looking at the menu with her.

"Salad, I guess", Jenny shrugged. "And definitely this burger, it's nice."

"I never got the appeal of those", Giles said as she chuckled.

"What, it's like a computer to you?" Jenny asked.

"Precisely", Giles nodded, and she smirked again.

"Well, that explains your backwards thinking", she shrugged and he sputtered, to her amusement once more.

If anyone else talked to Giles like that, he would make sure to win against them in the argument. But not Jenny, she could question and criticize him as much as she wanted.

"Let's have the wine too", Giles said as he gestured to the waiter who was none other than…..Xander! He had gotten a part-time job at this place.

"Yeah, G-Man", Xander said as he arrived to take the order.

"Burger, salad, fries and wine", Jenny said to him as he noted it all.

"Uh-huh, all part of the romantic dinner?" Xander asked and was shot looks. "Right. Who eats burgers on romantic nights? That's just for fun nights, but then you do have the wine-"

"We would just like it all", Giles said.

"Right!" Xander said as he started walking away. "And the fr-"

"Now!" Jenny said and he nodded, walking off.

"Children", Giles rolled his eyes as Jenny chuckled.

Jenny started. "So anyway, I was-"

They were interrupted by Giles' phone ringing and groaned as Giles picked it up. "Hello? Oh, Willow!"

Jenny raised her eyebrow as Giles nodded at her. "You're doing….what? Oh no, that-"

Seeing Giles' exasperation, Jenny took the phone from his hand and spoke into it. "Willow, what are you doing?"

After hearing, she said. "No, it's too dangerous to try alone for the first time, stop it, we'll do it tomorrow."

And then she hung up, giving the phone back to Giles. "Thank you."

"No problem, we both know I teach Willow better than you do", Jenny reminded.

"Yes, that you do", Giles nodded as Xander came back with their food.

"And here it is for both of ya, just hope it doesn't make you fat and all that, because you look great the way you do", Xander said. "And well, I'd prefer something more roman-"

"If you shut up, I'll give you a very generous tip", Jenny said.

At that point, Xander did a zipper motion and walked off as Giles said. "Thank you."

"Broken record much?" Jenny asked as both chuckled.

They ate together, and Xander, while passing by did give them the occasional thumbs-up, and at the end, it was time for the wine.

"We can just take it with us", Giles said.

"Yeah, that'd be better", Jenny nodded in agreement.

Xander heard that and did the Italian hand gesture for 'perfect', making sure they saw it, and they rolled their eyes as Jenny left a nice little tip for Xander, before the two walked off hand-in-hand.

Xander then came running to the table, taking it all. "God bless all librarians and computer teachers!"

Giles and Jenny were walking together, hand-in-hand, Giles holding the wine bottle in his other hand as he said. "Tonight was good."

"Yes, especially since it was, us, you know, the real us", Jenny said and they chuckled at the reminder of the candy night.

"That does make things a lot better", Giles agreed when suddenly two Vamps jumped in front of them, growling.

"Bloody hell", Giles muttered as he started taking off his glasses while handing the bottle to Jenny, when suddenly both the Vamps dusted, with Buffy and Faith now standing in their places.

"Buffy", Giles greeted. "Faith."

"Hey", Jenny greeted too.

"Hi", Buffy said with a smile and wave.

"B, look, there are 3 more there", Faith pointed as she ran off in the direction.

"Bye", Buffy said with another smile and wave as she ran off after Faith.

Giles straightened his glasses and he and Jenny walked off hand-in-hand again, pretending the interruption had never happened, ignoring the sounds of fighting and dusting.

Later

Giles and Jenny sat in his house as she said. "Well, this was fun."

"Yes, most peaceful date the two of us can have", he replied as they smiled and putting the wine bottle away, kissed each other on the lips.

"I love you, Rupert", Jenny said.

"I love you too, Jenny", Giles replied as they continued kissing, eventually stripping as they lost themselves in each other.

And so Part 1 of the Calendiles AU comes to an end, next one will take place between Seasons 4 and 5.
