Theo stared at the phone held tightly in his grasp, the ghost of a smile hovering over soft lips. Scott had called and asked him to officially join the pack and attend the meeting later that afternoon. Shock had gone through his entire body, all he could muster as a response was "sure, yeah man." The call had ended over two minutes ago, but still he sat staring. Snapping out of the shock induced daze, Theo decided he should share the good news with the only person he thought may care. Searching through text chats he pulled up the younger wolfs name.
"Hey Little Wolf". A smirk growing as he hit send, knowing exactly how to get under the younger boys' skin. Almost immediately he was met with a phone call.
"Really?! You know I hate when you call me that! Why do you always have to be such a di- "The rage was very present in his voice. Theo decided to cut him off before he went over the deep end.
"Liam, I am just messing with you…" Theo hesitated, glad the younger boy could not hear his heartbeat through the phone, taking a deep breathe, he continued.
"I just wanted to tell you the good news." He could hear Liam taking calming breathes through the small speaker.
"Okay…what is the good news, have you finally learned how to beat me in Halo?" Liam stifled a laugh.
"No jackass, Scott asked me to join the pack." Silence. He was met with utter silence; nerves began blistering through his body. Was Liam not happy about this? Had he been misreading the signals from all the time they'd spent together? He figured they were close enough friends to at least get something back. The response he did receive did not ease the nerves.
"He did?" Why was Theo hurt by the younger wolfs lack of enthusiasm? Swallowing the feelings, he reverted to what he knew best, being an asshole.
"Sorry to disappoint you Liam, I guess you will just have to deal with me being around for awhile longer, that must be so devastating for you." He spit the last part out.
"Theo stop being a douche. Scott was supposed to ask you at the meeting today. He had one job 'get Theo to the meeting, then ask you in front of everyone', not ask you already. I wanted to see your face, I bet it was priceless. I am sad I missed that."
"So…you wanted me to be in the pack?" Theo couldn't contain his hopeful tone, butterflies swirled around his stomach, why did this little wolf have such an affect ton him?
"Well, duh I want you to be in the pack. You deserve this Theo..." He hesitated before continuing.
"You have changed so much. You have become a good person that I am lucky to be friends with. You may act like a dick, but I know you care. I am only glad everyone sees you now, the way I have seen you for months."
Theo was awestruck, how was he supposed to respond to that? No one had ever said something so kind to him, and once again he couldn't come up with a response. Liam cleared his throat through the awkward silence.
"um… Well I guess I will see you in a bit." The line went dead, and Theo was left staring at the phone in his hand once again. Unsure of what to make of how he was feeling. Liam was the first person who had ever made him feel so confused.
Sure, he knew he was attractive, he'd flirted with tons of girls and even hooked up with a few. But none of that amounted to anything, there were no emotions involved. Which was why he felt so confused by the little wolf. Was this just what caring about someone felt like?
Shaking the thoughts away, Theo began driving around, killing time until the pack meeting.
