An Easter Eggstravaganza
A.N. The way the title was spelled is intentional. It is not a typo and should not be considered as such.
A.N.2. 10 days ago, my buddy BigMoose01 wrote a Smash Bros. story himself called "Schooled By Byleth". I'm not a stranger to this franchise, since I've actually played Smash Bros. Brawl, so I decided to join in the fun. And since Easter was not too long ago, I decided on the very story you see here today. So, without further ado, let our story began. Also, Happy Easter!
One day at Smash Mansion, Master Hand was talking to Bowser Jr. and Toon Link.
"I have a special assignment for you two." Master Hand said. "Since today is Easter, I would like you two to distribute a batch of chocolate eggs to the other Smashers."
"You got it, Master Hand." said Bowser Jr.
"Excellent." praised Master Hand.
Master Hand then ave the two younger Smashers a basket that had the chocolate eggs inside and a piece of paper.
"You have 81 Smashers to give candy to." said Master Hand. "So, what are you waiting for? Go!"
"Right." nodded Toon Link.
With that, Bowser Jr. and Toon Link left, with the latter carrying the basket and the former carrying the paper, which was actually a list of all the Smashers that were to be given candy. Bowser Jr. then thought of something and took Toon Link into his (Bowser Jr.'s) room.
"Jr., what are you doing?" asked Toon Link. "Why did you bring me in here? We're supposed to be giving out these chocolate eggs."
"Don't worry, we'll get to those." said Bowser Jr. "I just want to show you something real quick."
Bowser Jr. then took a box out of his closet and showed it to Toon Link.
"What are those?" asked Toon Link.
"They're smoke bombs." said Bowser Jr. "I had an idea for a prank. Let's paint these like Easter eggs and give them to Pirahna Plant!"
"Okay." nodded Toon Link. "Let's paint them first. But let's finish giving out the candy first before we give them to Pirahna Plant."
"Right." agreed Bowser Jr.
And so, Bowser Jr. and Toon Link painted the smoke bombs (which, by the way, were shaped like eggs) in all sorts of colorful patterns and designs, then they passed out the chocolate eggs to every Smasher on the list, and when they were done, they took the painted bombs to Pirahna Plant. But they had no idea that they had passed out the bombs by mistake and were taking the real chocolate eggs to Pirahna Plant, who resided in a greenhouse on the grounds of the mansion.
"Hey, Pirahna Plant." said Toon Link. "We have some Easter candy for you."
Pirahna Plant felt very happy.
"Thanks, guys!" he grinned.
Bowser Jr. and Toon Link gave their gift to Pirahna Plant, then ran to the side of the greenhouse and watched with anticipation from outside for the bombs to explode.
"Any second now." Bowser Jr. whispered.
But much to Bowser Jr. and Toon Link's shock, Pirahna Plant began eating the so-called "bombs", which, as I've already mentioned, were really the chocolate eggs they had thought they had given out to the other Smashers.
"What?!" gasped Bowser Jr. "He has the chocolate?!"
"Wait." said Toon Link. "If he has the candy..."
It was then that the two realized their terrible mistake.
"Aw, crud." gulped Bowser Jr.
Inside, Pac-Man was just about to eat the egg he had been given to by Bowser Jr. and Toon Link when it suddenly exploded, covering his face in soot and red, orange, blue, and pink-colored dust (don't worry, though, he didn't get hurt).
"What in the name of Toru Iwata?!" he gasped.
"Everything alright, Pac-Man?" a familiar voice asked.
It was Master Hand, who was appalled when he saw what had happened to Pac-Man.
"Good Lord!" he cried. "What happened to you?"
"That egg Bowser Jr. and Toon Link gave me exploded in my face!" Pac-Man replied angrily. "I think this was a prank!"
Now Master Hand was angry.
"Go clean yourself up." he told Pac-Man. "I'm going to find Bowser Jr. and Toon Link."
Outside, Bowser Jr. and Toon Link were still reeling over the shock.
"What do we say to Master Hand?" asked Bowser Jr.
"Why are you asking me?" asked Toon Link. "It was your idea, not mine."
Just then, Master Hand showed up.
"I'd like a word with you two." he said sternly. "Somehow, Pac-Man's egg exploded in his face and covered him in soot and colored dust. Would you two like to explain this?"
Bowser Jr. and Toon Link tried to come up with a good enough explanation, but were at a loss for words. Two more explosions were then heard.
"Go to your rooms right now." Master Hand ordered. "We will discuss this later. And just you wait until Bowser and Link here about this."
Bowser Jr. and Toon Link sadly complied. Just then, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi approached.
"We heard explosions." said Mario. "What's going on?"
"It seems that Bowser Jr. and Toon Link swapped the Easter chocolates with smoke bombs." Master Hand explained.
"Mamma Mia!" gasped Luigi.
"That would explain why Daisy had soot and yellow powder on her face." said Yoshi.
"You must hurry and collect all the others." said Master Hand. "You have 79-."
Another explosion interrupted Master Hand before he could finish. The explosion was followed by the infamous Wilhelm Scream.
"78 smoke bombs to collected." Master Hand continued. "Try not to let any of them go off."
"You got it." said Mario. "Come on, let's go!"
With that, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi went inside.
"Alright, let's split up." said Mario. "Yoshi, you take that third, Luigi, you take that third. I'll take this third."
"Right." said Luigi and Yoshi.
Yet another explosion rocked the mansion.
"Hurry!" prodded Mario.
With that, the trio dispersed.
"Oh, this should be easy." said Yoshi confidently.
Yoshi then went over to Villager, who was about to eat his "candy".
"Hey, Villager." said Yoshi. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to need to take your candy."
Yoshi tried to take Villager's egg, but Villager pulled it back.
"No! Mine!" Villager protested.
"No, you don't understand!" Yoshi argued. "It's a bomb, and it's about to go off!"
"No! Mine!" Villager fired back. "Go away!"
Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi were having much better luck than Yoshi. Mario first found Sonic reading a comic book with his egg next to him.
"Hey, Sonic, I need to take your egg." said Mario.
"Why?" asked Sonic. "It's not expired, is it?"
"Not really." said Mario. "It's not candy at all. It's a smoke bomb."
Sonic was shocked.
"Whoa!" he cried. "Yeah, go ahead and take it. I'm not taking any chances."
"Good choice." said Mario as he grabbed Sonic's egg.
In another area, Luigi found King Dedede sleeping on the couch, with the latter's egg on the floor.
"Piece of cake." Luigi said to himself.
Elsewhere, Mario saw the Ice Climbers, Popo and Nana, about to eat their eggs.
"Stop!" he shouted as he raced over to them. "Don't eat those!"
Mario then told Popo and Nana what was going on, and they gave Mario their eggs without hesitation.
"Two more in the bag." Mario thought.
Mario then saw Donkey Kong about to eat his egg, and he immediately grabbed the egg from Donkey Kong's hand, then told him why.
"Oh, wow." gasped Donkey Kong. "Good thing you were here."
In another area of the mansion, Steve was just about to eat his egg when an anvil fell on him, thanks to Luigi, who was then seen holding a rope.
"You just can't beat the classics." said Luigi.
In his third, Mario saw Ness and Lucas about to eat their eggs, and he immediately tackled them to the ground.
"Hey, what's the big deal?" asked Lucas.
Mario explained, then took the eggs from Ness and Lucas, to whom he then gave each a Hershey's chocolate bunny.
"That's how it's done." said Mario.
In Luigi's area, Luigi saw Pit polishing his swords with his egg next to him. Pit was too busy polishing his swords to notice Luigi taking the egg.
"I wonder how Yoshi's doing." said Luigi as he left Pit's room.
In Yoshi's third, he was still fighting with Villager over the latter's egg.
"Come on, we don't have time for this!" Yoshi grunted. "It's gonna blow up any second!"
"No! Mine!" Villager cried out. "Mine!"
Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi continued to seize eggs from every other Smasher besides Villager, and Luigi eventually met up with Mario, who had a large bucket that contained all the bombs the two had collected.
"That's Number 77 in." said Mario. "Let's go see how Yoshi's doing."
In his third, Yoshi was still fighting with Villager, and it got to the point where Yoshi was hitting Villager repeatedly on the head with a fly swatter.
"Let go!" Yoshi was saying. "Let go!"
Mario and Luigi saw Yoshi as they were passing by with their bucket.
"Look, he's over there!" said Luigi.
As Mario and Luigi watched, Yoshi and Villager then started fighting with wooden swords. Then, Luigi had an idea.
"I know what to do!" he said.
Luigi then went out to see Pirahna Plant in the greenhouse.
"Hey, Pirahna Plant, do you have any candy left?" Luigi asked.
"Oh, yeah." said Pirahna. "A bunch. Go ahead, help yourself."
Luigi then took one of the genuine chocolate eggs and went back to Yoshi and Villager.
"Here, Villager." said Luigi. "Have a piece of candy."
"CANDY!" Villager squealed.
Villager then grabbed the chocolate egg and happily munched on it while Yoshi put Villager's fake egg and put in the bucket.
"Shut off these smoke bombs and put them in the shed." Mario then said to Yoshi. "Hurry!"
Yoshi nodded and left with the bombs.
"Phew!" sighed Mario as he took off his cap and wiped his brow. "I'm glad that's over."
Later on, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi were having a pizza to celebrate their accomplishment.
"You know, I think there's something I forgot to do." said Yoshi.
Master Hand then approached the trio.
"Well done, you three." he said. "You've saved Smash Mansion from a terrible disaster. Easter would have been ruined if you hadn't shut off those smoke bombs in time."
"It was nothing, Master Hand." said Luigi.
"By the way, what happened to Bowser Jr. and Toon Link?" asked Yoshi.
"Don't worry, Yoshi." said Master Hand. "I've given them a suitable punishment."
In the kitchen, Bowser Jr. and Toon Link were making a new batch of chocolate eggs, which Master Hand made them do as punishment, while Bowser, Isabelle, and Link watched on. While Bowser Jr. stirred a pot of melted chocolate, Toon Link spooned the chocolate into a silicone tray that had six egg-shaped molds. The only difference between this batch and the other was that now there were going to be a total of 103 eggs for every Smasher in Smash Mansion instead of the initial 81 eggs from earlier, including two for themselves.
"Boy, my arms are sure getting tired from all this stirring." Bowser Jr. panted.
"Well, it serves you right for the trouble you caused." said Isabelle.
"But still, you're doing a good job." said Bowser. "Just keep at it."
"These ones are ready to go in the freezer!" said Toon Link as he filled in the last mold on the tray.
"Good." said Isabelle. "Only 97 more eggs to make once these ones are done."
"Oh come on!" Bowser Jr. and Toon Link groaned.
"You heard her, you two." said Link.
Bowser Jr. sighed.
"Happy Easter, everyone." he grumbled to the audience.
