The Curious Case of Rosco P. Coltrane
Description: When no one sees Rosco all day, the boys become concerned, and have Cooter spy on his whereabouts to see what he and Boss Hogg might be up to. But they're all in for a big surprise.
Rosco was sitting outside, waiting for the Dukes. Instead, a blue 1967 Impala seeds by. He takes off after it.
I smell something fishy, and it ain't Rosco's lunch because he doesn't like fish. When he does fish, he does it out of sport, so was chasing the Duke boys. Believe it or not, Rosco enjoyed giving out of towners phony tickets just as much as he does the Dukes.
One of the tires on the Impala blows out, startling her daughter awake in the back seat.
"It's alright, Sandy May. We just blown a tire." Her mother said. Through the rearview mirror she saw the officer approached.
"Do you how fast you were going? This is a school zone." He said in a stern tone. He looked to be in his late forties or early fifties, black hair peppered with grey. Not fat or slim, average build. The arrogant way he held himself. She knew his type just trying to make a quota for his Boss. There probably wasn't any school.
"I don't see any school..." He was already taking out his ticket book.
"Is my mom in trouble?"
"Kew, Kew, Kew. Aren't you cute." He turned his attention back on her. "Tell ye what, I'll call Cooter and have ye towed. I'll just need a name, so he knows who to bill it to."
"Maryanne Ashford."
"I can give you a ride into town, show ye around if ye like."
"Well, that's mighty kind of you Sheriff."
"Call me Rosco."
"I never sat in back of a police car before!" The five-year-old exclaimed, climbing into it.
"Now don't you go making a habit of it." He gave that same strange laugh again but Maryanne found it warm and amusing.
"Don't worry, I won't, sir!"
She heard her daughter say as she climbed into the back of the squad car. Maryanne looked over her shoulder, spotting a black sedan, partially concealed in the bushes.
"Sheriff...uh...Rosco? Can I sit in front, you wouldn't let a lady like me to sit in front of a police car?
"Uh..." He hesitated like it was a trick question. "no."
She got into the front seat.
On the way into town, he kept starting at her every few seconds. Did he suspect something?
"What's with the sunglasses? It's not that sunny out."
"I'm incognito." He looked confused at the statement. Wondering why she should have to hide?
"I have very sensitive eyes." She added.
The boys were wondering were Rosco was. There was no sight of him all day and they were worried that he and Boss were up to something. They even tried reaching him on the CB but only managed to get a hold of Enos.
You see, Enos kept a closer eye out for the boys, now being married to Daisy. He and Daisy got married a few months back. And it was a fine one too. Doc Appleby found a way to treat Enos's hives and they were able to get married the following week.
"I have 't seen him all day fellas. Last I heard he was out at one of his speed traps."
""Thanks, Enos."
Bo and Luke checked all his speed traps, with no such luck. They stop to see Cooter.
"No sign of Rosco all day." Luke said.
"Makes ye wonder if he and Boss are up to something."
They both look at Cooter.
"What do ya'll want?" Sounding like he already regretted asking. He had started turning his life around when he came to Hazzard. For years he had been an alcoholic, still reckless in nature, but when Bo and Luke were thought to be dead after they had crashed into the lake during a chase (only for them to be facing to interfere with Boss's scheme to frame them, even though they were 'dead") he had really turned his life around.
"Can you keep tabs on him for us? Try to find out what he and Boss are up to?"
"I don't know fellas. Sounds a bit risky."
"They won't expect a thing if it's you tailing him."
"Alright. You know there's nothing I won't do for you Dukes."
Rosco decided to stop by his house and change his clothes. Maryanne said he didn't need to, but he insisted. He should look presentable, taking a lady out on the town. Now thinking about it, she felt a little bit more comfortable. She felt safe by his side. If Ray saw him in his uniform, he'd think twice before approaching her.
Cooter watched as Rosco and Maryanne left his house. Rosco was dressed in civilian clothing. What was even more strange was the woman who had her arm around Rosco's. She must be the owner of the car he towed. He hadn't given her a ticket by the look of how friendly she was being.
"They aren't going to believe this. I'm seeing it with my own two eye and even I don't believe it."
He pulls himself up farther into the tree as they come his way. Some of the branch's snap but do not break.
"Dang, birds." Rosco shakes his fist at the tree, prompting a laugh out of the woman.
Cooter was still smiling over the ordeal he had witnessed. And if his suspicions were corrected, Rosco would be smitten with the young woman for a while. He still couldn't believe it. He was shaking his head as he re-entered the garage. "Looks like you won't be seeing Rosco for a while."
"How's that?" Luke was curious. His friend's smile displayed a, I know something you don't know, meaning to it.
"I've just seen him with the woman of the car I towed over at one his speed traps."
"He ain't giving her any trouble, is he?" Bo said.
"No, I wouldn't say that. They were talking like they were friends. I'd say whoever she is, she's something. If she can talk Rosco out of giving her a ticket."
"Yeah, that's something. Wished we could have seen it. We usually notice the people who come in and out of town. We would've if someone hadn't decided to go skinny dipping."
"I decided, you decided..." Bo started to argue, but was suddenly drawn to the blue Impala, "Who, would you look at that."
"That hers?"
"Yeah. And take a look at this, got a GT engine."
"Whoever she is she must be rich." Bo exclaimed.
"Or it's stolen." Luke said, but neither of them seemed to hear him.
"Like I said," Cooter shut the hood. "I don't think he'll be bothering ye for a while."
Meanwhile at the Boar's Nest,
Jesse Duke was sitting a few tables away from them, nursing a beer. "Well, I'll be. Looks like Rosco has himself a lady friend."
"Don't you think she's too young Uncle Jesse?" Bo asked.
"Bah." Jesse waved his hand. "Ain't no such thing as long as they're happy."
Daisy hurried over to where Rosco and the woman were sitting. She wanted to serve them before anyone else did.
In Hazzard they didn't get many channels on cable. New people in town, that meant entertainment.
"I'm Daisy. I'll be you're waitress this evening. "
"I'll have my usual, Daisy."
"I'll have what he's having. " The blonde woman said.
"I haven't seen you around here before, you must be new."
"Maryanne."
"Where are you from?"
She hesitated, wandering how much she should tell them.
"Tennessee."
"You certainly came along way."
"I needed the distance, to get out of the city. I'm a city girl if that isn't obvious. I always thought of living in the country. You're all so nice here."
"How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Daisy, it's not polite to ask a woman her age."
"That's alright Rosco. I don't mind if you don't mind me asking this nice lady."
"uh...no." He looked down at the table.
"I'm thirty-two."
"You look younger than that." Daisy said.
"I get that all the time."
Just then Sandy May came out of the rest room and made her way over to them."
" This is my daughter. Sandy May, come say hi to Daisy."
Sandy May shook Daisy's hand.
"Well, don't you have the politest manners. Just like your mother."
"Your name is like a flower." Sandy May, giggled. She wasn't laughing at Daisy's name, she just never heard of someone being named after a flower before.
"Sandy May, don't be rude."
"It's fine. She don't mean nothin by it. That's right my mother named me after her favorite flower."
Maryanne looked over at Rosco, who was fidgeting with his hat in his hands and looking everywhere else like he didn't want to be there.
Daisy grabbed a jar of crayons and a coloring book for Sandy May and placed it on a nearby booth.
"Stay where I can see you." Maryanne said to her daughter.
Luke comes up to Daisy over at the bar.
"Who's that girl sitting next to Rosco?"
"Maryanne. She's real nice. You should meet her."
"I'll pass."
"Is someone jealous?"
"No, I'm not jealous. I'm just worried, is all. You remember what happened with Sue Anne."
In case you all don't know, a few years ago, Sue Anne, who Rosco met on an internet dating sight, pretended to marry Rosco so her real husband could rob the Hazzard Bank.
"Come on, what's the chance of that happening twice? Now go on, I have a lot more tables to serve."
Luke goes over to Bo, where he is talking to a group of friends. He and Bo leave shortly afterward.
Enos comes in and spots Rosco.
"Sheriff, Boss has been looking for you. He wants you in your office or..."
"I'm goin, Enos." He got up and pushed in his chair. "Excuse me for a bit, uh, Maryanne. This won't take long."
Enos smiles at Maryanne. "Howdy." He says. She nervously waves.
Rosco entered the back room. "You wanted to see me Boss?"
"Rosco, you remember what happens at fourteen hundred tomorrow?"
"Fourteen hundred?"
"Two o'clock."
"Ooh, I know. You're second lunch!"
"Doh. The bank robbery do-do. One of the robbers backed out. You know what that means. We still get his cut."
"That means I get..." Rosco tries to do the math in his head.
"You get his ten percent of my ten percent."
"Well., that sounds about right."
"Don't forget tomorrow at fourteen hundred. Uh...two o'clock."
Bo and Luke were almost run off the road as a black sedan headed straight toward them.
Isn't that just like an out of towner, driving on the wrong side of the road?
At the same time, Maryanne walked into Cooter's Garage asking if he has a phone. Cooter points to the one on the corner.
"Oh, Ray I don't want anything to do with you. We're done. And if you come near me or my daughter, I'll have the Hazzard County Police on you. Even the FBI." She slams the phone down.
"Everything alright?" The mechanic asked, "That sounded like a rather heated discussion."
"That was just my brother. I left home without really telling anybody. He's not too happy about it. Rosco tells me you're the best mechanic in town."
"The one of the only, Cooter Davenport."
" How much do I owe you?"
"Thirty for the tire, and thirty for the tow."
She opened her purse, carefully taking out the money, making sure not to give him any fake ones.
Luke and Bo CB Cooter.
"Cooter, someone tried to run us off the road. "
"Hey, what's new!"
"Cooter, this is serious. We think the radiator is damaged." Bo said.
"Looks like we're going nowhere."
"Alright, you just hang tight. Hey uh listen I got to get going. I got another tow. I can't leave Bo and Luke stranded out there."
"You know what? Can I actually keep Maverick here for a few days? At least till I can find a place of my own? Here's a twenty and another thirty for your friends."
"That's might generous of you."
"Got to get used to it if I plan on living here."
"Fellas I just had that lady with the Impala here. She was talking rather heated on the phone with someone on the phone, Looks like she was looking over her shoulder when she left."
"Never mind her right now. " Bo said, "she can wait."
"Actually," Luke began, "Cooter, is there anything else you found out about her?"
"She's got a awful lot of luggage for just than one person."
"Did you go through them?"
"Nah, it wouldn't feel right going through a woman's property."
"Can you? For Rosco's sake."
"Luke, you just asked me to spy on the man." Cooter paused before finally relenting. "Nothing but a lot of clothes but..."
"But what?"
"A lot of them are men's."
Uh oh, looks like she didn't plan a trip just for two.
Maryanne saw Rosco down the street a ways. She broke into a slight jog to catch up to him.
"I had to get my suitcases from Cooter's garage. I'm storing my car there till I can find a place."
"Where are you staying?"
"The Hazzard Hotel."
"The Hazard Ho...no, that won't do."
He takes her to a fancy two story house with the name Hogg on the Mailbox.
"Wait right here."
It took a few seconds. A big woman came out to great her. She had to be related to the Sheriff for she immediately saw the resemblance.
"My baby brother's finally found a woman."
"Oh, I'm not his..."
"What is all this hubbub?" Boss comes down the stairs. "I was finally getting into my me time."
"Oh hush J.D." Lulu said waving a hand at him.
"Do you have a place Sandy May can sleep?" Maryanne asked Lulu.
"She's your dog?" Lulu asked.
"She's my daughter."
"You have a daughter?" Rosco didn't tell her his lady friend had a daughter.
"That's why I have two luggage's." She pats one of them. "She's five and a half. She'll be six next spring. We're in the process of moving. We don't really have much..."
"I think we'll be able to arrange something." Lulu said. It was clear that this woman already meant a great deal to Rosco. And Lulu didn't want to stand in the way. She was just looking out for her baby brother. "What did you say your name was?"
"Maryanne Ashford."
"That's a lovely name. Where are you visiting from?"
"Tennessee. But I lived New York when I was in high school" Maryanne added.
"Uh...Maryanne, it's been very nice to meet you and all, but you can't stay here." said Boss in his fake friendly tone.
"Oh. I would have just stayed at the hotel if it was going to be too much trouble. But Rosco says the hotel doesn't keep."
"Well I don't think there's no need for you to be staying in a place like that anyways." Rosco started.
"What are you all talking about? I recently had that hotel renovated..." Boss was eager to get rid of her.
"We'll be happy to have you." Lulu gave a glance at J.D. who had a look of disapproval on his face. "Would you like to stay for dinner?" Lulu asked, heading for the kitchen.
"I would like to. " Maryanne said, she set her luggage down and followed Lulu into the kitchen. She gave Boss a look before the swinging door closed behind her. She was onto him already.
"J.D. take the suitcases up to the spare bedroom." Lulu called.
"I'd help but I got to pick up Sandy May. I left her with the cleaning lady. I didn't know who else to watch over her. With my husband being dead an' all."
"Oh, you poor thing."
"Don't hurt much, when you didn't really love the person…still it gets to you sometimes" She had married too young, before she even realized she didn't even love Ray at all. He was dead to her now.
"Rosco, take those luggage's upstairs." Boss said, siting down on the couch, putting his feet up, as he lit a cigar.
"She told you…."
"And I told you."
Lulu comes out of the kitchen. She explained where Maryanne went off to. "Oh, she is just very lovely. She's just what my baby brother needs."
"I don't like her." Boss said.
"J.D. you don't like anybody." Lulu said.
The next day Rosco and Maryanne met up at the Boar's Nest during Rosco's lunch break. While waiting for Rosco, Maryanne had introduced herself to Bo and Luke, who were talking with Daisy.
"So, what brings you to Hazzard?" Bo asked her.
"Just looking for a new start. I'm actually thinking about moving here."
"Well that's great." Bo said. "I'll drink to that."
"So will I," Daisy said, raising her glass of water while Bo raised his glass of beer.
Luke shrugged, raising his glass anyway.
"I've heard a lot about you fellas. Well from Rosco. I haven't gotten around to really meet anyone else yet."
After taking a sip of the beer Luke said, "So what's ol' Rosco told you about us?"
"Oh something about you all being desperate criminals." Maryanne rolled her eyes. "Which I find hard to believe because y'all drive a bright orange car. You can't tell me that's you're get away car?"
Bo and Luke chuckled.
"Actually," Bo said, "sometimes it is." Bo made eye contact with something or someone over Maryanne's head. His smile faded a little.
Maryanne looked at Luke who was looking over her head as well. She had sensed someone standing behind her and now turned to see who it was.
"Oh," she said, "Hi, Rosco. is it time already?"
"Yes, it is."
"Okay," she said and got up from the table. Rosco was half way to the door.
"It was nice to meet y'all," Maryanne said, shaking hands with Bo and Luke. She then went to catch up with Rosco.
Daisy sat down in the chair Maryanne had sat in. "I don't know about you, but I think she's a doll," she gushed.
"She's certainly different," Luke said. "I mean to be hanging around the likes of Rosco."
"She's certainly pretty looking," Bo said, catching the glances of Luke and Daisy. "I mean, to be hanging around the likes of Rosco."
Maryanne followed Rosco over to the other side of the Boar's Nest. "Now, Maryanne," he said, "I know I probably can't stop ya from hanging around who ya want to hang around with, but I told ya about them Duke boys."
"Well, I appreciate your concern, Rosco, but I don't see how being ex-moonshiners is a qualification for permanent criminal status."
"Well, this is different."
"How's it different?"
"It just is."
"Now, Rosco, they seem like very nice boys." Her voice was raised, which carried all the way over to the Dukes.
Rosco told her about the Dukes and what trouble they caused. Maryanne didn't believe it. She wasn't too fond of him chasing' them. "You haven't been here long. You don't know how it is."
The Dukes strained to listen in to the rest but couldn't make out all they were saying.
"Rosco P. Coltrane." She shakes her finger at him.
Rosco looks down with an innocent look on his face. He twirls his hat nervously in his hands. "Yes, ma'am."
Bo, Daisy, and even Luke look at each other and smile at the dilemma going on.
"That's Maryanne."
Rosco stops twirling his hat as she corrects him. "Maryanne."
Maryanne leaves the Boars Nest and Rosco follows.
Bo and Luke are still smiling. Bo looks down at the ground, shaking his head. He wipes his eyes. They were watering because he was fighting the urge to laugh.
Cooter walks up to the boys. "Wooeee." Cooter said. "That Maryanne sure is something I'll tell ye that." He pats Bo and Luke on the shoulders.
"She's sure got Rosco on a tighter leash then Boss Hogg." Bo said teasingly.
"Something doesn't set right about her with me though." Luke said, crossing his arms.
"Hey, look at the bright side, at least Rosco won't be bothering ye for a while." Cooter said.
That's what Luke was afraid of. He was still on edge about what happened four years ago with Sue Anne.
Bo and Luke walk past the bank as the two robbers rush out. They nearly knock Bo over when they run into them.
"Hey, what's the idea?" Bo shouted at them.
"Bo I think they just robbed the bank. " Luke said, stating the obvious.
You think?
Bo and Luke try to chase after them, but they lose them.
"It's the same car that made us run off the road." Bo noted. "You don't think those guys came into town the same time Maryanne did?" Bo said.
"I don't know. Just to make sure we'll go to the courthouse and tell Enos to put an APB on that car."
Things aren't' looking good for Maryanne. If they trace that car back to her husband, they could trace him back to her. And her cover would be blown. And I'm starting to like her, but not as much as Daisy of course.
Bo and Luke headed back to the farm after they informed Enos.
Bo was sitting at the kitchen table while Luke paced. They were waiting on the information he found on the robbers car.
"This is Deputy dog to Lost Sheep, over." As Enos came on the CB, Bo and Luke practically fought over the mike. Luke got it away from Bo. "I got some news about that black sedan."
"Don't tell us, knowing our luck it's stolen." Luke said.
"No. It belongs to a guy named Ray Casey. He's wanted for forgery and theft, and so's his wife."
"Wife?"
"A Marian Casey, for aiding and abetting."
"We don't know a Marian." Said Bo. "Unless she's using an alias."
"I just knew something wasn't right about her." Luke says, snapping his fingers.
"Now we can't just jump to conclusions Luke. Let's go find her first and get some answers." Bo and Luke leave the farm. They use Uncle Jesse's truck while the General was being fixed. Uncle Jesse was in town with Daisy doing some shopping
They couldn't find Maryanne anywhere, so they back tracked.
"I haven't once seen her leave Rosco's side once." Luke said. "It can't be that hard to find her."
"Wherever he is she is."
"The question is why she is spending a lot of time with Rosco. She's got to at least be the same age as Daisy."
"If she was a criminal, you'd think she'd be staying away from him."
"Not if you really got to know Rosco." Luke said. Once you got to know him he wasn't threatening.
They found Maryanne at the Sheriff's department. Bo and Luke filled her in on what they knew. With both Enos and Boss present.
"I got no choice to arrest you now." Enos was about to handcuff Maryanne. "Your husband just robbed the Hazzard Bank and you're wanted for helping him escape for the jewelry robbery in Chickasaw County."
"You're married?" Rosco asked, walking in. He'd overheard the conversation.
"Rosco just let me explain."
"We'd like to hear an explanation, first." Luke said to Enos.
Boss interrupted him. "She's married to a criminal. There's no need for an explanation."
"You didn't really care about me." Rosco said. He had been taken for a fool again. He should have known a woman like her would never be interested in a man like him. But what exactly had she been using him for? He couldn't recall. She'd been nice to him. And she was still being nice now. She hadn't hid her real self from him but she lied to him. But how could he know what was the real her? She lied for a living. Yet so did he, coming up with schemes with Boss.
"Rosco, I really do care about you. And I'm not married. He's my ex-husband. He don't mean a thing to me. He tried to get me to rob the bank with him.
"You're one of the robbers that backed out of Boss's deal?"
She nodded. ""I came here, planning on going straight. But he followed me, I forgotten this town on our hit list a while back, then he took the deal from Boss. I didn't want no part of it. But he tried to get me to come back and I was contemplating if I've done the right thing. Then I met you. You and Sandy May are only what's important to me."
"But you only just met me." Rosco said.
"There, she admits it, arrest her." Boss waves his finger.
"Now, you hold on just a minute if this wasn't all your idea, hiring Ray to rob your own bank, we wouldn't be in this mess. Besides you can't rest me anyway."
"He can't?"
"Oh, yes, I can."
" I have an alibi."
"You do?"
"I was with you when the bank was being robbed."
"She was." Bo said, "She was outside the Boar's Nest with Rosco when Luke and I left. She would have had no time to catch up with Ray."
"Well, that don't make much a difference does it?"
"Boss, you can't have her arrested. She ain't done it. "Bo said.
"That's right." Rosco believed Maryanne. "She's been with me that whole time. And if she says she has nothing to do with it, she has nothing to do with it." He turns to Bo. "That don't mean I'm agreeing' with ye."
"Even if you did arrest her you'd be incriminating yourself."
Ray, Maryanne's ex-husband enters. "I got the money, now let's scat, baby."
"Oh, Ray I wouldn't get back with you even if you had a million dollars." Maryanne said.
"I do have a million dollars."
"I decided to stay here and raise Sandy May. She's better off round these nice country folk. And I met a very nice man." She link her arm with Rosco.
"What do you see in an old codger like this?"
"I'm only forty-eight." Rosco said.
"Rosco if you're forty-eight you've been for five years." Bo said.
"You're fifty-three?" Maryanne asked. So he had lied to her too.
"That's only…..twenty years difference, right?" Rosco asked.
"More like Twenty-three. uh….Rosco, I've been lying about something's to save my own hide since I came here. I'm not…thirty-two. I'm twenty-eight."
"She's two years older 'n me." Bo said. "You were off by four." Luke had been betting Maryanne was no older than Daisy. Daisy was six years younger than Luke and two years younger than Bo.. "Cough it up, cousin." He put his hand out to Luke to give up the cash.
Luke just shoved his hand away, not taking his eyes off of what was playing out. He needed to be at the ready if he needed to be involved.
"I guess that means you have to leave." Rosco said to Maryanne. He took a step forward to walk over to her. At least he could do was walk her out. He only got one step.
Ray pointed a gun at Rosco. The Duke boys and Maryanne watched helplessly. "Hold it, nice and easy Sheriff."
Rosco steps forward. "Now just you…" The man fires the gun straight up at the ceiling. Rosco throws his arms over his head as plaster rains down.
Bo runs in to help, shoving Ray to the ground.
Ray gets up grabbing the money and runs out of the Sheriff's department.
"My money." Boss shouts. "Get after him."
Bo and Luke take after him followed by Enos, and Rosco.
Bo, Luke, and Enos get into the Enos' patrol car and take off after Ray.
As Rosco gets into the patrol car, Maryanne gets into the passenger's seat.
"What are ye doing?" He asks her.
"Just follow them." Maryanne says, putting on her seat belt.
Bo rams the Patrol car into the side of the Sedan. The Sedan rams him back. The road up a head ends and Bo turns the wheel sharply to the right. The Sedan stops at the end of the road.
Rosco runs into the black Sedan. Maryanne and Rosco get out.
"Nice one Rosco." Maryanne says.
"I meant to do that." Rosco said, straightening his tie.
Bo and Luke get out of Enos' police car.
Enos arrests Ray.
"Read him his rights Enos." Rosco shouted at Enos. Enos took out the card and read it slowly. Rosco went over to his and took the card out of his hands. "Never mind that, can't even read the rights right dipstick."
The Dukes and Maryanne all laugh and smile.
Boss and his driver pull up in his caddy just as Enos is placing Ray's partner in his cruiser.
"Her too! Her too!" Boss waves toward Maryanne.
"You still want me to arrest her?" Enos asked, confused.
The FBI shows up. "I'm afraid you can't do that fellas." The agent is sharply dressed and speaks with a Yankee accent.
"Pardon me, but who are you, in your fancy suit telling me what I can't do."
"Agent Hanson FBI."
"ooh, ooh, FBI! How can I help you agent?"
"By handing over those two goons and refraining from arresting this young lady."
"I...but..."
"She works for us. She's our informant."
"Infor—what?"
"I give the FBI information on Ray and I testify against him in court in exchange for immunity."
"That won't be necessary Miss Ashford. You're free to go."
Enos and Rosco help transfer the criminals to the agents vehicle. After they drive off, Maryanne walks over to Rosco, who is standing next to his patrol car.
"So this whole time...?"
"Yep." They stayed silent for a few seconds, until Maryanne couldn't stand it, "So, that's...twenty-three years?"
"What's wrong with that?" Rosco asks.
"Nothing'" She smiled. She grabbed him by the tie, (with her other hand she takes off his hat) and kissed him on the cheek.
"Ooh, Jit, Jit."
Well there you have it, Rosco got the girl, Hazzard got itself a new citizen and the Dukes gained a new friend. And after all the trouble she was put through she was staying. Seems impossible don't it? But not in Hazzard county folks, where just about anything can happen.
