Hey, everyone. I'm here with one last request before I go ahead and begin working on my next big story. If it did take a while, I do apologize, as I have lacked motivation to write recently. But now, I am back with something short now that I'm back with it.
Anyways, I got nothing else that I wanna say. I'm just gonna go ahead and let this story continue. I hope you enjoy! ;)
Mia just got back from another nice day roaming Inkopolis Square. She was free from sudden Agent missions, and now has the time to be as lazy as she wants, since that's how she is.
The yellow-haired Inkling enters her room and closes the door. Then she lays down on her bed and pulls out her squid phone from her pocket. She also took her headband off as her long tentacles flow a bit from the headband's removal.
"Hm, I think I'll talk to Chany for a bit," Mia thought, "It's been a little since we talked, so I should go ahead and take first initiative to hear how she's doing today."
She opens up the message app and scrolls through her contacts until she found Chany. The last time they talked was about 4 days ago, but Mia didn't mind that for now. She opened Chany's contact and begins to type in a message.
Her thumbs press quickly on the digital keyboard, and soon sends a message to Chany, asking if she can hang out with the pink Inkling.
Mia soon realized Chany hasn't answered yet. It usually takes Chany at least a few minutes when she receives a message from Mia. So seeing Chany not get back to the third Agent after 8 minutes seemed oddly suspicious.
However, Mia shrugs it off, thinking that Chany was busy. Every Inkling has their own thing to do every now and then. So Mia closes the text app for now, and opens one of her social media accounts to see what's currently going on in the app.
...
Half an hour has passed. And Chany still hasn't texted Mia back. Mia looked back at the message, and saw that Chany didn't text back. She didn't see the three dots so she at least knows that Chany was typing.
Mia then began to grow worried. She had no other excuse for why Chany couldn't be picking up any time soon. The yellow Inkling knew that Chany was up and ready by this time. So she had no idea what was going on with that girl.
"I hope Chany's doing alright. This is unlike her." Mia mumbled to herself. She wraps her headband back around her forehead, and stands up as she puts her phone back in one of her shorts pockets.
Mia immediately walked over to Chany's apartment so she can realize what could possibly be going on with Chany. But worrying thoughts swarmed around Mia's head like a horde of angry Octarians.
All that Mia told herself was that she hoped Chany was fine. That she wasn't hurt, and not depressed. Most of all, she worried if Chany has any negative thoughts, as she did learn how much Chany has trouble countering those.
Mia then shakes her head, and grows a serious look. She then walks along to find Chany's apartment.
*scene: Chany's apartment*
Chany was currently lying down on her bed. However, she wasn't happy at all. Rather, she looked flustered. Her legs were nearly curled, and her hands were clenched into fists. She shut her eyes as she tries to ease up.
She looked rather distraught. Sickened, almost. She couldn't bring herself to what she was experiencing right now.
The pink Inkling girl suddenly opens her eyes when she heard a slight growling sound. Her sad expression remained unchanged as her eyes view over to the source of the noise.
She looked beside her to see someone crawl beside her. Except this... thing looked exactly like Chany. Except it was all black, had one red eye and one white eye, and also had the parka left unzipped. The creature also had gloves on, too, similar to the ones that the Octolings have in the army.
This thing was none other than Chany's inner demon. The demon evilly smiles as it opens its mouth, revealing a more longer, serpentine tongue. It was way longer than what a normal Inkling and Octoling has.
"You really are pathetic to be laying like this!" The inner demon mocked. It spoke in a tone that sounded exactly like Chany, except it was more distorted.
"Leave me alone..." Chany pleaded as she closes her eyes, trying to ignore the demon.
"Aww, does the little Inkling want some alone time?" Her demon snapped as it places its hands on Chany's shoulders, "You poor, poor, pathetic girl. Nothing is going to be happy for you any time soon in this world. No one is gonna be there for you. You'll have nothing."
"There are... people who care about me..." Chany yelped defensively.
"Who? That Agent girl with the yellow hair? Don't make me laugh," The demon scoffed, "The only reason she's caring about you is to make you feel good. Days will pass by, and soon, she'll no longer care about you."
"That's not true..." Chany mumbled, turning her head away from the demon. However, the inner demon was having none of it. It climbs on top of Chany and pins her down, causing Chany's head to spin.
"Look me in the eyes." Her demon commanded. Chany grunts quietly, refusing to obey its command. However, the demon pulls out two small pointy tentacles from its back, and places them near Chany's eyelids. It then moves them, forcing Chany to look at her inner demon.
Chany shakes in her spot as the demon shows a wide, sadistic grin.
"You have nothing, you'll have no one, and your life will continue getting worse and worse," The demon exclaimed, "There will be nothing and nobody. Nobody will be there for you once you drift them all away. You'll be all lonely like the sad piece of scum you are."
"N-No... NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!" Chany screamed her panicked state as arisen. She squirmed in her demon's grasp. The demon held on tighter as it continued talking, finding amusement in mentally breaking Chany.
"You'll be all alone... nowhere to go... no one to lean on..." It continued saying, each time getting more louder and louder. Chany tried to drown it out by screaming, crying as she didn't enjoy this torture.
Lots of tears streamed down her cheeks as her face turns red. Her screaming and her demon's chanting was the only thing heard in the entire bedroom.
"MAKE IT STOP!" Chany begged as she continue to free herself from the demon's clutches.
Suddenly, help came along the way. Mia just opened the bedroom door, arriving to see how her best friend is doing.
"Hey, Chany, I tried to text you, but you didn't- OH MY COD!" Mia started, only to yelp once she saw what Chany was going through. However, all Mia saw was Chany having a panic attack, flailing her arms and legs and turning her head back and forth, screaming as she did so.
The demon was nowhere to be found in Mia's sights, oddly enough. It is an inner demon, after all.
"Chany! Chany!" Mia called out, running over to the bed and helping her friend. She grabs Chany by her shoulders and began to shake her. In Chany's sights, this contact forced the demon to disappear into a black cloud of smoke that only Chany can see.
Chany stopped, but still had her tear-stained face. Her face was still red the entire time, though. Mia faces Chany with a worried expression, cupping the pink Inkling's cheeks with her hands.
"Chany, get a hold of yourself. You were having a panic attack. Are you trying to scare the living ink out of me?" Mia scolded lightly. Chany tried to respond, but she closes her eyes and pants, feeling her muscles let loose. Even Mia could feel this, and gently sets Chany down on the bed.
But Mia couldn't replace her worried look yet. She knew something was wrong.
The third Agent places the back of her hand on Chany's forehead. Mia's eyes widen as her pupils shrink as she felt how hot Chany's forehead felt.
"Oh no... you're burning up..." She uttered. Chany goes back to the position she was originally at before her demon decided to ruin her current state some more. But she added panting onto the mix. And Mia could visibly see her pink friend sweating. And the fan was on, too. This made Mia feel more worried than she ever has been.
Mia pulled out her phone again, and this time, went into the contacts app.
"Hang on, I'm going to call a doctor. There's this one that Sonic calls and he's really good, so just hang in there, Chany." Mia stated. Chany didn't respond, but just looks at Mia with a sickened look that has remain unchanged throughout the course of this event.
The yellow Inkling finally dials the number, and places her phone next to hear ear, awaiting a call as soon as possible.
*about seven minutes later*
The doctor arrived and began doing some simple tests on Chany. Listening to her heartbeat, testing blood pressure, and more. Mia stood back and sat down on a lone chair, waiting to see what the results that the doctor has to speak about.
Mia looks up at the doctor once he approaches her, as he writes some more down on a piece of paper on a clipboard.
"How is she, doc?" The third Agent asked. The taller, older figure looks down at the paper again and clears his throat.
"Fortunately, your friend is not in any severe danger," He explained, "She suffered no fatal injuries, and doesn't have any bad symptoms. However, she has a mild case that has caused her to become like this."
He turns towards Chany again, who was wiping her forehead to get some sweat off, and places her head on a pillow.
"I'm not sure what the possible cause of this could be, but whatever it is, it managed to make her get a stress induced illness." The orange-haired Inkling continued.
"Stress induced illness?" Mia repeated.
"Why, yes," The doctor replied, "The poor girl has been stressing out about something recently, and as a result of this happening too often... it caused her to get sick, like what would happen with a common cold, or other well-known mild illnesses."
"She's going to be okay, right?" Mia questioned, severe worriness in her tone.
"You have no need to worry, young lady," The doctor assured, "She will be fine. All she needs is plenty of rest, and tons of care. You seem like a trustworthy friend with this girl. I partake she'll be okay in your hands."
Mia turned towards her sick friend, not replacing her worried expression that she has had since the situation she just walked into.
"I think I know exactly why poor Chany is like this..." Mia thought. She then looks up as she began to have flashbacks of seeing Chany in a mentally broken state before.
Walking in to see Chany not there. And looking everywhere to find her once realizing she ran away because of her negative thoughts. And the time Mia herself broke down crying, blaming herself she wasn't able to help Chany that one time.
But today, Mia was ready to pick back up where she once started, and is opting to help out her friend in need.
The yellow Inkling turns back towards the orange-haired doctor, and nods once.
"I'll do whatever it takes to help her out in this time of need." Mia says.
"Excellent. She is capable with you by her side," The doctor chuckled, "Just check up on her once in a while to make sure she doesn't sustain more severe cases. Also make sure she drinks plenty of water, eats healthy, and give her some medicine. Some Tylenol should work just fine."
"Thank you so much for your help, doc." Mia thanks again, showing a small smile.
"My absolute pleasure, Ms. Ikainkupawa. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to head back over to the office and report my recent analysis." The doctor responded, giving Mia one last wave before he heads out. Mia waves once back and continues staring at him until he completely left the room.
Mia hopes on the bed and slowly approaches Chany, showing a sad frown once again. The sick Inkling was still lying down, trying to stop her head from spinning and heating up some more by laying down.
"Hey, Chany. You feeling okay?" Mia asked. Chany slowly shakes her head, still panting slightly.
"Where do you usually keep your medicine at? I'll give you some Tylenol to help alleviate the fever." Mia offered.
"In the kitchen... farthest drawer on the right..." Chany said softly. Mia gives the pink Inkling a quick thank you, then hops off the bed and into the kitchen so she can find the medicine.
Mia arrives at the kitchen, and looks for the smallest drawer on the top right, just like Chany mentioned. She opens the drawer, and finds a bunch of liquid and pill-shaped over-the-counter medicines for common symptoms that Inklings and Octolings can have when they get sick.
The third Agent searches around the drawer to find what she's looking for. After a while, she finds a small red box containing Tylenol pills. Mia looks at the front of the box to make sure she found what she's looking for. Then she nods once, immediately heading back to where Chany is still lying down on her bed.
Mia sits back down on the bed, and opens the box. She takes a couple pills from the box, and hands it over to Chany. Chany looks at the pills in her hand once Mia gave it to her.
"You just need to take the two. It should help relieve the pain, and lower your temperature." Mia assured. Chany slowly nods, then places the two pills in her mouth, swallowing them upon entering.
"*gulp* Thanks, Mia..." Chany quietly thanked, having a mix of desperation and relief in her tone. Mia rubs Chany's shoulder as she gives her a "you're welcome" back. Mia didn't leave the slight affection, as she still wanted to talk to the sick Chany.
"What happened, Chany? How did you manage to get sick with all your stress?" The yellow Inkling asked. Her wavy-haired pink friend looks down slightly, ashamed of herself.
"I'm sorry, Mia," Chany apologized, "It's just... I began to stress out again. I don't want to be alone. I've been lonely for most of my life, and it was hard for me to make friends with others. And eventually, the stress began to make me feel sick... to the point I almost wanted to throw up..."
Mia continues to rub Chany's shoulder, offering comfort the best she can.
"You're not alone though, Chany," Mia reminded, "I know that you had rough moments since the beginning. You were adopted, you have anger problems you can't help... but hey, me and the others don't mind it at all. Because we're there to help you."
"Please do not remind me of my past..." Chany pleaded, shutting her eyes again.
"Right. Sorry about that, but I just want you to know that I'm there for you," Mia stated, "I know sometimes I might be busy, but that's why my friends and family are there for you as well. Redd's usually available to talk to, Aaliyah likes to be around you, the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and the Woomy Team always have time if you need to vent."
And Mia quietly mumbles how literally most of the members consist of three of the four well-known idols.
"Oh... M-Mia..." Chany looks at her friend with a small smile, as some tears began to form in the corners of her eyes. Mia shows a small smile back, and uses her thumbs to wipe Chany's tears away.
"It's going to be okay, Chany. I'm here." Mia cooed. Chany slightly relaxes. Her hands were no longer clenched into fists, and she maintains a more relieved position, showing a small smile knowing that Mia was there to help her.
"Now, I'm going to get some food. I'll get some for you too, Chany, to help get rid of your stress induced illness." Mia said as she stands up, leaving the bed.
"C-Can I have a Seanwich? You know I lose those..." Chany questioned.
"A Seanwich may be too greasy for you right now. Besides, you need to eat something healthy. Doctor's orders." Mia replied.
"Aw man..." Chany groaned, sad that she has to miss out on her favorite food.
"Heh heh. I know, it would suck for me, too," Mia giggled, "Anyways, I'll be right back as I give a call to place I think you might like. Hang tight there, Chany."
"Okay.." Chany said quietly. Mia gives Chany a quick flashy smile, similar to one that Redd would show every day. Then she heads into another room so she can order some food for herself and her pink friend.
*later that night*
Chany was getting slightly better since Mia was taking care of her. Not all the way yet, but she was making progress. Mia helped out with dinner to give Chany something soft and healthy to munch on.
As much as it was not right to be this way, Mia had to lessen the amount of food Chany would normally have, ignoring Chany's big appetite for today. However, Chany didn't mind, and loved the food that Mia ordered for her.
And just like the doctor reminded, Chany drank plenty of water, and Mia kept watch of that to make sure Chany was following the guidelines to help her feel better faster. And right now, it was working just fine.
The other Agents even came to visit once Mia gave the news. Aaliyah came over as soon as possible, and even gave Chany a hug. The Squid Sisters offered her a "get well soon" card, and Off the Hook came in as well with their warmest regards. Even Flint came to help out and wish Chany to feel better.
The only one who hasn't come was Redd, as he seemed busy. But he did remind his sister that he will come over whenever he's free.
Mia knew she was going to be staying with Chany for much longer than she anticipated, so she gave Chany a quick reminder that she'll be heading back home to get her pajamas and sleep over.
Meanwhile, Chany was taking a quick nap. She was wearing her pajamas that consisted of a short-sleeve white shirt and pink, long lounge pants. The lamp was the only source of light on in her room. And her face was less red than it was when the illness was first spoken about, meaning that the Tylenol was working.
Chany jolts awake when she heard her smartphone go off. She reaches over to pick it up from her desk and take it off the charger. She looked to see who was calling, but it was unknown, but a video call.
The pink Inkling was unsure why it was a video call, but as long as it wasn't a normal call to eventually reveal the caller to be a scammer, she seemed fine. So she accepted the call to see who it was.
Her mouth was left agape when she saw it was Meggy.
"Hey, Pinky." The beanie wearing Inkling greets.
"Meggy? How did you get my number...?" Chany asked meekly.
"We are on the friendship scale a bit now, are we not?" Meggy teased, "Anyway, I wanted to call and check up on you. I'm still awaiting the next battle we have so I can show you I haven't changed my splatting style one bit."
"Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I cannot participate, Ms. Superstar," Chany teases back, "I'm sick right now, so it's going to take me a little while until I get better."
"Oh, you're sick? Sorry to hear about that," Meggy apologized, "And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I genuinely mean that."
"I know, Meggy. You're not sadistic by any means." Chany giggled. Meggy playfully rolls her eyes and giggles along. She adjusts the headphones on her head, and continues staring at the screen.
"You got someone there to take care of you?" She questioned.
"Yes, another friend of mine who really cares for me," Chany explained, "The two of us are true best friends at this point. And she's a really caring person. Looks after me very well so she makes sure I feel better soon."
"I see," Meggy responded, "Well, I'd love to stay here and chat with ya, Pinky, but I need to continue my training. My team and I have a big Ranked battle run that we are going to be doing the next day."
"Hmph, okay. Well, it was fun chatting with you... my rival." Chany said, trying to get one last tease in.
"Sure thing. I'll see you on the battlefield if we do meet again in person." Meggy chuckled. The two wave at each other one last time before Meggy ends the call. Chany puts her phone back on the desk next to her Cap of Legend, and puts her phone on the charger as well.
As Chany sets her head back down, Mia came back in, wearing a gray hoodie, and having her headband removed.
"Hey, Chany. Who were you talking to?" Mia asked curiously.
"Oh, uh... just a friend of mine." Chany simply responded with that, not wanting to tell her best friend who exactly it was. Mia simply nods and smiles, appreciating the response either way.
"That's cool. Anyways, I have my PJs on, so I'll be sleeping over with you." Mia spoke. She unzips her hoodie and places it on a coat hanger next to where Chany's parka was at. Mia places her one of her hands on her hips, revealing her pajamas to be a black t-shirt and small, comfy shorts.
The third Agent turns off the lamp, then hops onto the bed again and places her body over the large blanket. Chany felt soothed now that Mia was next to her. The pink Inkling snuggles near her friend, and Mia simply pats her head.
"Thank you..." Chany said quietly.
"Don't sweat it, Chany. That's what friends are for." Mia responded softly. Chany was quick to fall asleep, after the long and boring day she had staying inside all day with the stress induced sickness.
Mia adjusts the blanket again to make sure both of them were bundled up and gaining warmth. Mia even keeps Chany close so the latter doesn't experience any nightmares or panic attacks in the middle of the nsight.
And as the night went by some more, Mia fully fell asleep as well. Crickets chirped as the night breeze swooshes by to lighten the mood.
Later once it got really dark, a quiet knock was heard on the bedroom door. No one said anything, but since the door was left unlocked, the knocker slightly opened the door so they can check on what's inside.
It turns out it was Redd, who looked inside.
"Hey, Mia, are you in here? Just wanted to check on you and see how Chany's doing." He whispered. He then turns his attention over to the bed. He smiled warmly when he saw his twin sister sleeping with Chany, who was huddled near Mia just in case.
Redd closes his eyes as he smiles, loving the sight, but also relieved that the two were doing just fine.
"I'll leave you two be." The red Inkling whispers again. He tip toes away and quietly shuts the door on his way out. Then he leaves the apartment as a whole so he can leave the two girls be for their rest.
They had a long day countering the illness after all. And now that it was slightly alleviated, things would seem to get better the next day after plenty of rest, just like the doctor predicted. And since Chany was with Mia the entire time...
Things might just be better than usual for the pink Inkling girl.
Author's Note: And that's all for the request. I got something big I'll be making, so stay tuned when I get to working on it! :D
Anyways, that's all I got in store. Stay Fresh, fellas, and I'll see ya next time!
