Taking notice of Naruto's sullen face after taking on the seemingly still living Akatsuki, Hinata takes courage to approach her crush that night. Little does she know that Obito has business with the Jinchuuriki as well. Dragged into the tsukuyomi with the blonde shinobi, Hinata's counterpart takes her place, and it isn't long before chaos ensues. [RTN movie re-imagined/Hinata-centric] (T for cursing, like a lot so be warned)
A/N: Yes, another movie rewrite, but don't worry, this is the last one. I honestly only watched the ones where Hinata had a big part in teehee~
Anyways, this one is mostly humor with a little bit of romance in the air. I have a pretty good outline in my head, so I'm confident I'll finish this one as well.
Warning: I do not read comments because I've been hurt before, and it might make me stop writing for a long time as it did that time, so I'm sorry if there's something you're dying to say. I won't say that I'll never read comments ever again since I don't know the future, so you're more than welcome to leave one if you like. Maybe I'll reply back one day. I hope you enjoy it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
Silently watching and silently praying.
That's how Hinata had been supporting Naruto from afar.
It was a rare occasion that she gain enough courage to put herself out there and take action; today just happened to be one of those days.
Hinata had seen how lonely he'd looked while the others were surrounded by their respective relatives. Although not directly connected by blood she had her caretaker and friend Ko-san by her side. Naruto-kun however, looked lost in the sea of people around him.
Encircled by friends, but still alone.
She'd thought their trip to the bathhouse and the get-together between the males would have helped her friend, but it must have somehow pushed him deeper into melancholy. Kiba, Shino and even Neji had assured her they'd ended that day on great terms. They told her not to worry too much, and that Naruto would be quick to recover from whatever was bothering him.
It's not that she didn't believe them. Hinata would gladly trust her life to them in a heartbeat. But she also trusted her heart, and it was telling her something was wrong.
She didn't know what she was going to say, but she just wanted Naruto-kun to know she was there.
Still struggling with what to say to her blonde friend, Hinata slowly strolled along the streets of Konoha.
"Hinata!"
Speak of the devil... "Na..Naruto-kun!" Startled out of her reverie, Hinata wasn't sure if she was glad, he'd found her, before she found him. She still didn't know what to say.
Thankfully, Naruto was always prepared. "What are you doing in the middle of the night?"
"Ano...I'm...taking a walk?" Why did she sound so unsure? Baka! Had he heard? What would he say?
"What a coincidence! I was on one myself. Wanna walk with me?"
Regardless of what he would have asked of her, Hinata was prepared to say yes, but seeing the pleading look behind the smiling face, she had to take a moment to reply. "Of course, Naruto-kun."
Hinata had been mentally preparing herself as they stopped at the small park to sit and share their thoughts. At least, that had been the original plan.
One moment they were sitting on the swings, and in the next they stood in stance, ready to take on the unwelcome guest.
Uchiha Madara had suddenly decided to join them.
Before they could do much of anything, he'd disappeared with the blinding light, and from there, things just seemed a bit sideways.
Sakura, Kiba, and Shino came upon them before they could make sense of what happened to the enemy, but their friends weren't quite...normal.
Naruto was used to an angry Sakura. It was an everyday thing for him, but he never thought he'd see his teammate aim that anger at Hinata.
"Hinata! What are you doing with Menma in the middle of the night?!"
Pulled away from Naruto's side to stare into green eyes of envy, Hinata was in a very confused state. "Sa...Sakura-san!" And who was Menma?
"Sakura-SAN? What are you trying to pull on me? You think acting like that is gonna get you Menma?"
Not liking how aggressive Sakura was getting with Hinata, Naruto pried off Sakura's hands which had travelled to Hinata's collar, and gently pulled his shocked friend to bring her back to his side. This was Hinata for heaven's sake! The most gentle, most caring, and nicest kunoichi of all the people he'd ever met. He'd never stopped Sakura's angry tirades before since they were mostly well deserved (even in his case, though he'd never admit it), but Hinata was NOT. "Oy, Sakura! Stop it!"
"Men..Menma..." Stunned by Naruto's actions, Sakura could no longer move.
Who the hell was Menma?! And why was Sakura the one who looked like the victim?
It was at that moment that Kiba decided to step in. "Woah, are you and Hinata an item now?"
Blushing at the accusation, they denied it in unison. "What! No!"
"Oh. Okay I thoug...Agh!" Before he could finish his sentence, Kiba was suddenly bitten by...Akamaru?
"Kiba-kun! Are you okay?!" Never in all the years she'd been in Team 8 did something like this happen. Astonished white eyes looked from Kiba's aching wound to the retreating back of Akamaru far from their site. "Did you guys have a fight?" Though they did bicker from time to time, Akamaru had never gone so far as to bite his best friend.
Backing away from Hinata as if he was scared by her show of care, Kiba awkwardly replied. "Uh...yea..."
In a matter-of-fact tone, Shino answered in his teammate's place. "They always fight. Why? Because Kiba hates dogs. He is a cat-lover."
As if on cue, Kiba moved his hands like a cat to prove his point. "Nyan~"
Naruto was horrified. Clearly this whole thing had to be a hoax. If so, they could all laugh in agreement that their friends were superb in acting. Maybe they were practicing before they had to go undercover. But as much as he enjoyed mischief, this was most definitely the wrong time. Their main objective was getting farther and farther away as they stood here talking about whatever the heck was the point of this sudden ambush. Surely, they'd get back to their senses when he told them who they just met. "This is no time to be joking! We have to catch Madara!"
Kiba laughed in response. "Whose joking?! Clearly you're the one whose gone wrong in the head if you think we need to be catching fish at this time of the night."
Something was definitely wrong.
Making eye contact with a shell-shocked Hinata, they nodded to each other before looking at the people who looked to be their friends. "You know what? Me, and Hinata forgot we had plans so... See ya!"
They heard a mix of voices call for Hinata and Menma (whoever that was), but they didn't stop to talk until there was no one else around.
Hinata was the first to speak. "Naruto-kun, I think we might be stuck in a genjutsu. I thought that item Madara used was a distraction of some kind to get away from us, but it may have been what's trapped us in this alternate reality." Before the light had blinded them, she'd thought she'd seen a glimpse of tomoes making the orb look like a Sharingan. She hadn't been sure then, but she was convinced now.
"My thoughts exactly. From what we've seen so far our friends are like...like the opposite of who we know." A flashback of Sakura and Kiba played in his head. Though Shino seemed like the same guy, they didn't really have much time to know if anything had changed. "We need to figure out where exactly we are, and how to get out."
Hinata swiftly agreed. "Hai." If Kiba and Sakura were anything to go by, they needed to be mentally prepared for who or what they would see next. "It seems we are also different in this...this Konoha."
"Yeah...apparently I'm Menma..." It seemed everyone's outer appearance was the same. What had changed was who they were. But seriously, why would anyone name their son Menma when Naruto was clearly a better name.
"If we meet our..." What was she supposed to call them? "...our friends again, I think we should say that we were training and we had a little accident. We'll have to temporarily blend in, if we want to gather information."
"Okay." Before Naruto could add any more thoughts to the pile, they were faced with another bunch of familiar faces.
They hadn't noticed, but the two temporary partners had stepped out of the dark corners they'd run into, to step on to Konoha's livelier streets. Though they'd agreed to brace themselves for what was to come, it was difficult to keep face with the sight before them.
It was Team Asuma, but at the same time not really. If Hinata and Naruto had doubts about their theory, Team 10 assured them otherwise. Their friends looked quite different, and yet similar to the ones they knew back at home. They were easier to identify because they were together, but had they been alone, their "friends" would have been difficult to pinpoint.
Shikamaru looked about the same if you got rid of the goofy smile, Chouji was slim and prim, while Ino identifiable only by her family's attributes, wore very modest clothes.
It was quite a blow when compared to how alike the first three had been, but that hadn't been what surprised them the most. Before Naruto or Hinata could speak a word in response to what Team 10 was saying, another voice cut through the crowd around them.
A voice unfamiliar to Hinata, but not so much for the Uzumaki.
"It's rare to see you two together."
Right before them in the company of their friend's look-a-likes was none other than Uchiha Sasuke.
-[Naruto-verse]-
When Hinata hadn't come home, Neji had taken on the duty of finding her. He hadn't truly been worried until even he with his Byakugan could not find her until the break of dawn. His travel had brought him to the outskirts of Konoha into the forest nearby. About to give up on his lone search to alert his clan and Hinata's teammates, he detected her chakra coming down from above.
Swiftly catching her unconscious body, Neji made way to Konoha Hospital after a quick scan of enemies. Normally he would have been more thorough, but it was more important that Hinata be checked for any internal injuries. She looked to be physically fine and his Byakugan had found nothing, but the whole situation of her unmoving form falling from the sky could not be ignored.
The most alarming thing was her attire...someone had covered Hinata's face with makeup, her sweater was wide open, her shirt and her pants much too short...
Neji didn't know who had done this...but he would kill whoever it had been to shame his cousin in such a fashion.
Though the Hokage and Sakura assured him nothing was wrong with her physically, Neji had decided to stay by Hinata's side. He did not doubt them when they had said they would call him as soon as she woke up, but he could not relax. They understood, of course. Though Neji had zipped up her sweater, they too saw Hinata's state in checking her. The Hinata they knew would never ever wear such clothing.
All they could do now, however, was simply wait.
"Ugh..." Hinata woke with a foggy mind. As her view sharpened, she recognized the ceiling of the hospital, but she couldn't remember how she could have ended up in Konoha Hospital of all places. Last she remembered; she was...What the he** was I doing?
"Hinata-sama! Are you okay?"
Neji? Of course! "Neji! You piece of sh**! So, it's not enough to sneak a peek with your eyes; now you're knocking me out, so you can feel me up!" Hinata would have cursed up a storm if it wasn't for the loud gasp next to her. Not too far away, Sakura and Tsunade stood shocked to the core looking at them with bulging eyes. Had Tsunade-sama's boobs always been that big? It rivaled her own pair...Kudos to the Hokage. I guess she finally decided to get rid of her nerdy image. But before she could compliment Konoha's representative, Hinata remembered she was still holding Neji's collar in her hands. "Get ready for the beating of your life."
"Hi...Hinata-sama...I...I would ne...how...you..." Neji was mortified. Hinata had never, would never call him or anyone else for that matter without honorifics, but the shock from that alone was apparently not enough. Never in his life had he ever been accused of such...such horrific acts. Even the thought of it made him sick to the stomach. But to be accused...Misunderstandings with a stranger he would understand with great difficulty, but for his accuser to be Hinata of all people...and the words she'd used to say it. Kami!
Hinata's intent to kill was like none Neji had experienced before. If he wasn't on the receiving end, he would be proud of how strong his cousin had gotten. She hadn't hit him yet, but he could tell. Familiar, yet foreign power just radiated off of her.
Staring into the fearful white eyes that screamed he was being wrongfully accused, Hinata took a moment to pause. Had Neji always been this good at acting? Her cousin looked about ready to cry for being so wronged.
Sakura took that moment to step in. "Hinata, calm down. Neji would never do that." Right? Sakura would have liked to have more confidence but she didn't really know Neji.
"Of course, you would think that you bi***." Hinata turned the direction of her glare to the pink-haired kunoichi.
"Bi..." It was Sakura's turn to be at a loss for words. She didn't know Neji, but she did know Hinata, and this was not her.
"Okay! Break it up." Tsunade stepped in to get into Hinata's line of sight and break the loosened hold Hinata had on Neji. Signaling Neji and Sakura with a nod she said, "You two step outside with me. Hinata, you stay put until we get back."
"Neji, you said Hinata was falling out of the sky when you found her?"
"Hai. Now that I think about it, it was quite bizarre. I had my Byakugan on the whole search, but her presence suddenly came into my range...I didn't think much about it that time, because of how alarming the situation had been... And yet...I can also say with confidence that, that person is Hinata-sama." It was her, but at the same time, not.
"Hmmm..." Tsunade had also been more thorough in her check-up when she'd seen the implications of sexual harassment. Her dental records and blood sample were foolproof it was indeed Hinata, with the added boost of confidence from Neji. However, unlike what they'd suspected, Hinata was not only unharmed, she was very, very healthy. The Hokage couldn't remember the last time she'd seen someone so healthy. After having to see so many patients day in and day out, it was a welcome surprise. She remembered that while reading the charts she had thought to herself, wondered if Hinata had been so strong. It seemed her training was really working out.
And that's where they all agreed was the weird part. It was quite obvious her personality and her memories were in disarray. Something that could be the result of her hitting her head on branches and trees in her fall. But for her body and chakra to have gotten so powerful in such a short time, not to be offensive to Hinata, but she was not that fit.
Neji was the first to break the silence. "Tsunade-sama, is it possible to do something to your body to gain such power in an instance? Last I saw of Hinata-sama, she looked gravely worried about something before she took a stroll out that night."
"It is not unheard of..." A desire for many, if not all shinobi. Few specific faces came to mind. "But the effects whether from herbs, justus, seals, or even curses, they don't last that long or seem so natural. Hinata also had no markings, or seals; no anomaly in her body...It may be something we've never experienced before... It could be why she's so different in her mannerisms and who we are in her memories." Sighing in defeat at the unending questions, Tsunade admitted out loud, "I think we need more help on this matter."
Though it would explain a lot, the idea gave him no comfort. It was no secret how much Hinata strived for power. Not for selfish reasons. No. But to protect her loved ones. But would she go so far as to use such methods to achieve it? Neji wanted to believe that, but a small, a very small part of him could not throw that thought away. Shaking his head at the negativity that seemed unending, Neji decided to focus on what he really needed. He didn't care if she came back weaker than she had been before, he just wanted the Hinata he knew, back.
Though he'd been named a genius on many occasions, Neji was not confident he could deal with the Hinata that was beyond the door before him.
A/N: I'm sorry to do this to Neji, but it was necessary. You're stuck with RTN Hinata for a while longer, buddy.
I hope you guys enjoy this fic as much as I had writing this. I'm excited about the next chapter, and the chapters to come. Hopefully I can get it to you guys quickly. As long as I don't get stuck, I'm pretty sure it'll be out soon.
Thank you.
