"Look who finally showed up," a darker woman, about 5'6, chided as she leaned against a counter, tapping her fingers patiently as she stared at her husband.

He chuckled a little bit, and removed his coat. "Sorry, sweet pea, a student needed help with her research paper on the role of Georgia in the Civil War. Did you know that the state governor, Joseph Brown, wanted to only use troops to defend Georgia, but-" he stopped and noticed his wife glaring at him. "What, am I boring you?"

As she continued to stare darts into his eyes, she scoffed. "Her? All these late nights, you coming home looking as tired as you do... Lee... be honest, are you cheating on me?"

The husband, Lee Everett, a professor at the University of Georgia, had shock written all over his face. "Really, Jessie? You think I'm cheating on you? I have a job to do, and it's not easy. That doesn't even make fucking sense!" His shock turned into anger as he raised his voice. "God damn, how do I know you're not cheating on me?! I see the way you've looked at the mail man, or gawk about Senator Jones." he noticed that his wife was starting to get angry too, as she slammed her fist on the counter. "Oh shit, is someone mad that she got accused of cheating? Doesn't feel good, does it?" he screamed.

"Shut the hell up, Lee! Why I married a man like you, I don't know. Maybe you should go off and marry your girlfriend at the UGA, perhaps then you could control your anger with her." The wife stormed off towards the bedroom, slamming the door as she entered. The man, exhausted, hunched over and took a breath to calm down.

"Man, fuck this." he grabbed his cell phone out, and dialed a number. "Bud? Hey, sorry, I know it's late. Yeah, man, I'm exhausted too, sorry, sorry. I need a place to sleep tonight, mind if I head towards Macon and bunk with you? Yeah, she's been getting worse. She accused me of cheating again. It's cool? Alright, I'll see you in an hour." He hung up his phone, and grabbed his jacket before heading out the door.

Getting ready to enter his car, he noticed a man in a different car a lot nicer than his across the street from his house, staring at him with the windows down. "Hello?" Lee called out. The man waved back.

In a sweet, gentle tone, he replied "Why hello, Lee. How's Jess doin'? Ya looked stress, what's up? I was just comin' to say hello." The man exited his car, revealing his slick, black suit with a red tie. "I just got out of the office myself, but you look like you're a mess."

Lee sighed and wanted to punch the asshole in front of him. "Oh, I'm doing fine, just heading to see my brother in Macon. Tonight isn't a good night, Paul. Besides, don't you have some sort of legislation or something to be working on?" Seeing the senator reminded Lee why he didn't vote for him a couple years ago.

The senator smiled, and said "Lee, I was just here for a visit on my way home, but if you don't want me here, that's fine. I hope you have a nice trip, sir." He handed Lee a pin that read 'Jones For Governor'. "And between you and me, I have a plan to get that dictator of a governor out of office this next election cycle. What do you think of the pin?"

"It looks nice, Paul." Lee remarked, hiding his true intentions. "I'll see you around." Lee waved goodbye to the senator and hopped into his car and started to drive away, staring back at his house before turning onto the next street. He noticed something, however; the senator's car hadn't left yet. He thought of his argument with his wife earlier, accusing her of cheating only because she accused him of cheating. He thought for a second that maybe he was right. "No, she wouldn't do that to me." he thought out loud to himself.

But the thought just kept on bugging him and bugging him. Lee pulled into a gas station to get ready to drive to Macon before he couldn't stand it any longer. He fueled his car up, and decided to stop back at the house before he left just to put his mind to ease.

When he turned onto his street, he noticed that the senator's car was still there, though. He gripped the steering wheel and pushed the pedal a little harder. "That bitch..." he muttered under his breath before slamming on the brakes when he parked his car. Lee pushed the front door open, and heard laughing and moaning from his bedroom. He ran to the door, kicked it open, and found his fears to be true.

"What the fuck!?" Lee yelled. "Paul, Jess?"

"Lee, it's not what it-" his wife shouted out. It was too late, though, and Lee grabbed the senator by the neck.

The senator struggled, and started to try and get free. Lee shouted "I'll kill you, you son of a bitch!" All he saw was red as his wife begged him to stop.

She grabbed the house phone and Lee heard her dial three numbers, but it was too late. "I- I didn't mean to-" Lee muttered as he held the lifeless body of the senator. "You- I- he..."

"He killed him!" cried out his wife with tears in her eyes, "you killed Paul!" she screamed. She ran out of the room, only covered by a blanket. Lee fell to his knees and started sobbing quietly. In the distance, sirens could be heard.
