So I just decided to tell the story of Hailey and Jay, how they went from partners to friends, to lovers. I used Mouse to help me.
This should be a 3 or 4 chapters story probably.

His phone vibrated in his pocket while he picked his stuff from his locker, Hailey was waiting for him by the door and noticed a smile open on her boyfriend's face. "Mouse is coming to visit!" Jay informed her with happy grin lightning his face.

She smiled at his boyish grin feeling his joy in having his best friend back. "So that means I will finally meet the famous Mouse or this will be a guy's thing that I'm not allowed to be a part of?"

"Oh, you are totally welcome to join us if you like! I will be very happy with you two meeting!"

"When is he meeting us?"

"Do you think we should invite him for dinner or meet at Molly's?"

"Don't really know Jay, do what you think is more comfortable for him! I'm ok with both options!"

He smiled and texted Mouse asking him which option was better for him and finally leave the locker room with Hailey right behind him.

They end up meeting at Molly's. It was a weekday, and the bar was not crowded. Jay came alone because Hailey got stuck at the district with something Platt had for her to do, so he had time to catch up with Mouse, as he looked around and share with Jay that he missed that place, missed Chicago but was not ready to leave the army yet.

A while later Jay spotted Hailey finally entering the bar, opening a smile making Mouse turning himself to see what was that, made his friend grinned so wide. Hailey and Jay exchanged one of their non-verbal eye talks, where she asked him if it was ok for her to join them and he assured her that it was. She approached them resting her hand on Jay's hand, leading him to pick it up and kiss it. Mouse observed all the scene without a comment waiting for Jay to fill him in.

"So, this is Hailey!" Jay told. "Hailey, this is Mouse!"

Hailey smiled wide and seat next to Jay. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you Mouse, I heard a lot about you!"

Mouse was a bit lost on her piercing blue eyes, blonde hair and soft smile, she was beautiful, and Jay looked completely wiped by her. He didn't know when was the last time that he and Jay had catch up on women in each one's life's, but this was totally new for him. "Thank you, Hailey. It's a pleasure to meet you too!"

Noticing that their beers were ending she offered to buy the next round, leaving the two boys alone again.

"Man, she is gorgeous and so smiley!" Mouse state making Jay chuckle lightly. "Yeah man, she is all of that and more!"

"Where did you found her?"

"Well, it was more her that found me, us… Well… she basically tried to steal a crime scene from Voight, and he was so impressed by her boldness, that he end up bringing her to intelligence."

Mouse looked surprised. "Facing Voight hum… That is badass! When did this happen? The last time we really talked about women, Erin was it, for you man…"

Jay smiled, he felt that was like, ages ago, but yes there was a time that he was sure that Erin was it for him and Mouse was right, they didn't talk much after that. They talked once or twice after Erin left and he was so worked up about it. But that was totally gone now. "Well yeah, man… We don't really talk since forever, but Erin is long gone…"

Mouse noticed the hesitation in his voice and tried to soothe the conversation. "Hey! It's ok if you don't want to talk about it!"

Jay found Hailey at the bar waiting for their drinks smiling at him, as she noticed his eyes on her, because that was how they were, they could sense each other that way. He tough about not going there, Erin was a long-gone subject for him, but this was Mouse and he was ok to talk to him about it. His therapist had told him that when he would be really in peace with all that happened between Erin and him, he should be able to talk about it without problems.

"It's ok, really. Erin and I... we were a bit of a mess. Now that I look back, I can see that we were just not so good for each other. She was always too lost on her life dramas and her blind devotion to Voight was a bit scary. We were good together in general, but we just never let our guards down. She never let me help her, as much as I tried but I never let her in either. I never share my demons with her, she just had glimpses of what my PTSD could do to me, and honestly, I never felt totally ok to share that with her. So, we basically were both stuck in our own world and we were not actually good for each other. So … yeah when she left, I felt lost, anger and hurt and I wanted it to tell her that, so, so much. I left a tone of messages, I called her so many times, but then I started to let her go, I had to let go, there was no point to fight for something that in the end was not good for either of us. My therapist said that I had to make peace with it and after a while, I made that peace and now I don't feel the need to talk to her or fight her. I just move on."

Mouse listened to him, showing a surprised look when Jay referred to his therapist. "Man, I'm really happy for you… Therapist hum?"

Jay laughed at his comment. "Yes, I did therapy for a while. Hailey force me actually and she kind of save me with that!"

Mouse nodded smiling. "Well, you look, happy, happier than I have ever seen you!"

Hailey got back to the table silently smiling to herself as she heard Mouse's words and watch Jay nodded confirming his friend words.

They stayed at the bar for a couple of hours more and left with the promise of dinner on the weekend before Mouse leave again next Monday.

At home, Hailey, while getting ready for bed, chatted with Jay about how much she liked Mouse and how Jay and he looked so close, gushing about the stories from the army they had told her. Already in bed, Hailey sounded sleepy when she thanked Jay for this piece of his life. " Thank you for sharing those memories with me Jay. It was great to feel part of your world and of your conversation with Mouse."

"Hey, I want you to be a part of all of it Hailey," he says caressing her hair while she lays on top of him. Kissing her softly he added. "I'm happy that you meet him!" She mumbled something similar to "I'm happy too!" and dozed off, falling asleep on his chest with her legs tangled in his. As he caressed her back and breathed her scent, he remembered Mouse's words. "Well, you look, happy, happier than I ever saw you!"

He was happy, Mouse was right, he was happier than he remembered. And yes, he really thought Erin was it for him and he was even ready to marry her, but now he knew that was all wrong. He tried to propose to her because he thought with that she will not leave; he will fix her problems. The intention was good, but it was not the right thing for either of them. What he had now, with Hailey, this thing they had, that was right, it was so right. She managed to get through every brick of the wall that he had built around him and he didn't want to compare, but as he had told Mouse, he never really let Erin in, but she never showed intention to do it and Haley was there for him from day one, pushing him to let her get to him, and that's why he was certain that after all, Hailey was it for him.

Pulling the covers on top of them he got comfortable pulling Hailey small feature closer to him, thinking how he wanted his every last to be with her and travel back to the day she stormed into that credit union like she was running the world. That felt it happened ages ago. They really took the long road to get here, to this bed, falling asleep in each other's arms.
