Chapter 1
Squidward's father, Jeff Tentacles was at work, sitting at his desk, when, a red, purple fish lady came in holding an envelope." Good afternoon, " she greeted with a sweet smile."This letter is for you". She set it on Jeff's desk. Jeff smiled. "Thank you, Christina. We've been friends for five years now, just call me Jeff" Jeff told her. "Okay, Jeff" Christina smiled. Jeff grabbed the envelope."Who is it from?" he asked. "Your son… Squidward is it?". Jeff nodded.
"Yes, his name is Squidward" Jeff answered." I can't believe he sent me a letter. He never sent me a letter before". Jeff opened the envelope. "Do you wanna hang out tonight?" Christina wondered. "We can go to a bar and drink". Jeff smiled. "Sure, that sounds great". Jeff started to read the letter.
Dear Dad
This isn't easy for me to say, considering that you saved my life four months ago. I appreciate you for that, but, I don't want you in my life anymore. Don't take this the wrong way… I still love you and everything, but you don't have to worry about me. I've been doing just fine since I went to summer camp at Kamp Koral and now I have a job. So, please, you don't have to reconnect with me. Mom, my boss and my neighbors are all I need. But, please stay safe.
Best Regards
Squidward
Jeff looked up from the letter with a frown on his face."What's wrong?" Christina wondered.
"My son … doesn't want me to be part of his life anymore" Jeff answered. Christina frowned too.
"I'm sorry" she apologized."If you don't wanna go out to the bar with me tonight, I understand". "No, no. I'm still gonna go with you" Jeff told her. "Are you sure? I don't want to force you into things?" Christina reassured him."Yes. Don't worry, I'm still gonna hang out with you. Plus, I need the company" he answered. "Okay, hang in there, Jeff. See you at nine?". Jeff nodded."Yes, nine sounds great. See you then"."Okay" Christina said, and walked out. Jeff put his head in his hands.
"Oh, Squidward… what could I done wrong?".
Later that night, Jeff went out with Christina to the bar."Theirs gotta be an explanation for this letter. I don't think my son would would ever send that letter. Plus, four months ago was the first time I seen him since he was three" Jeff explained as he and Christina walked up to the bar, and sat down."Well, some kids are different. My niece's parents are divorced. My older niece would rather spend time with my sister and my little niece would rather spend time with my brother in law" Christina reassured him."Yeah, but they have to spend time with both of their parents sometimes" Jeff said. "But, that's mostly on holidays, birthdays or family gatherings" Christina told him.
"I mostly just sent Squidward a present on his birthday or Christmas. Sometimes I would skip his birthday and just sent him a gift on Christmas. The terrible part is their was like four Christmas' where I didn't even send him a present. Then Squidward turned 18 and I stopped giving him gifts all together" Jeff sighed, sadly.
"Don't be too hard on yourself… you're a great guy. It's just our job made you distant from your family. I don't like really like the whole distant rules either, but, this isn't your fault, Jeff" Christina reassured him. Jeff managed a small smile."Thank you. My kid might still think it's all my fault though". Suddenly, a bartender approached the two."What will it be, you two?" the bartender asked. Remembering his manners, he looked at Christina."Ladies first" he said. Christina smiled."I'll have a … frozen margarita, please". The bartender smiled."Certainly, miss". He looked over at Jeff,"And you, sir"."A whiskey" Jeff quickly answered. The bartenders eyes widened in surprise.
"Are you sure about that, sir?" he wondered. Even Christina was surprised."I'm sure" Jeff said.
All Jeff could think about now was Squidward."All right, don't shoot the messenger" the bartender warned and walked away."Don't worry" Jeff added under his breath. Christina looked at him, worried."Honestly, I'm surprised my self, Jeff. I don't normally think of you as a whiskey kind of guy. I think of you more as a tequila type of guy".
"Yes, tequila is my main drink, but I'm just not feeling up to it, tonight" Jeff sighed.
"Whiskey is not going to help you get your mind off your kid. I just want to have a good time with you tonight" Christina told him.
"I'm sorry" Jeff apologized. The bartender came back with their drinks and set them down in front of the two workers."There you go" he said and walked off.
Christina started to drink her drink as she watched Jeff. Finally, Jeff took a sip. Meanwhile, at Jeff's and Christina's job, Jeff's boss, James Corleone was sitting at his desk while two of his co-workers were standing in front of him. James Corleone was an octopus himself. He was also older than Jeff.
"I suppose Jeff has read the letter by now?" James Corleone said, with a creepy smile on his face. His two co-workers nodded."I believe so, Miss Christina Rose gave Tentacles the letter earlier today during work" one co-worker told him. James continued smiling that creepy smile."Good. That young Tentacles kid will soon be ours" James sneered.
Authors Note: I hope this is good so far. This is a sequel to my other Spongebob story called "The Missing Rivals". I suggest you go read that one first, but, anyway, this story is will be darker than the first one. I'll try not to make it too dark. This fic is not meant to offend anyone. I took the last name 'Corleone' from 'Back To The Future The Game'. I suggest you play it if your a fan of Back To The Future like I am. Or you can just watch it on YouTube if you want. Next Chapter!
