AN: Happy Birthday to Macaroni-in-a-pot! I hope you have an amazing day!

It had been a long day and by the time Alex got home, it was late. He could see Jo's dinner dishes sitting on the coffee table where she had curled up. Ever since she got pregnant, the couch had been her favorite spot in the loft and by the time he got home, she would often be asleep on the cushions. Which meant that he wouldn't be able to see her until the next morning. Alex missed his wife.

He looked around for Jo and didn't see her anywhere as he dropped his briefcase and shed his jacket, putting everything on the chair. There was a half-eaten slice of pizza on the coffee table and the TV was playing some trashy reality TV show that she liked. Alex took off his tie and kicked off his shoes as he turned around and saw a light streaming in from the bathroom.

He smiled and walked over, seeing that the bathroom door was left open a few inches. When he pulled open the door he saw Jo standing in front of the full length mirror dressed in only a pair of panties. Alex smirked as his eyes raked up her body and she caught his eye in the mirror. However, rather than a smile, she had a shocked look on her face as she quickly turned around to face him.

"I'm pregnant. I'm actually pregnant," Jo said as if she was just discovering this now at fourteen weeks along.

Alex couldn't help but chuckle as he put his hands on his hips. "Well yeah, what did you think was making you throw up every day for the past three and a half months?"

"Shut up," Jo said before she turned around to stand sideways and looked at the mirror again, placing a hand on her stomach. "I know I'm pregnant, it's just that I'm showing and it's all so real now."

As Jo trailed off, Alex followed her gaze down to her stomach. He hadn't noticed it at first because her hand almost covered all of it, but as he looked closely he could see a prominent little baby bump extending out from her hips in a curve of her belly.

"I can't believe I didn't notice it before, but I'm showing and it's so big. There's a real baby growing in my belly, our baby, our kid is in there," Jo said as she stared down at her stomach and cradled her little bump with her hand.

A smile spread across his lips as he stood there and stared at her for a second before he slowly walked forward. Alex's eyes were glued to her belly and once he was standing in front of her, he dropped to his knees and place both of his hands on her waist.

"Alex?" Jo asked gently, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from her bump.

"Hi baby," Alex whispered as he leaned forward and placed a feathered kiss on her belly. "It's your daddy, I can't believe how big you're getting and your mommy and I are so excited to watch you grow."

Alex leaned in and placed another kiss on her belly. He let his lips linger on her skin for a moment before he moved to cup the little bump in his hands. His large hands completely enveloping her little belly. He was so overwhelmed with love for someone who wasn't even here yet. Every cell of his being loved his child and to see them grow before his eyes was an extraordinary experience.

A drop of water fell on his hand and Alex looked up at Jo to see silent tears trailing down her cheeks as she had one hand over her mouth. Jo moved her hand and smiled at him before putting a hand to the back of his head and gently rubbing her fingers through his short curls. He knew from the smile on her face that they were happy tears brought on by her hormones, but that didn't stop him from wanting to comfort her.

Alex stood up and brushed away her tears as she leaned into him before he wrapped his arms around her. At his full height without shoes, both of them were only a few inches apart and one of Alex's favorite things to do when they stood face to face was to tilt his head up and kiss her forehead. Jo wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down to kiss her lips. Alex still had a hand over her belly, but he put his other arm around her waist. He felt her relax in his arms and against his lips as they kissed. When he pulled back Jo sighed and leaned her head against his.

"Let's take bump photos?" Alex said as the idea popped into his head.

"What?"

"Bump photos."

Alex untangled himself from her and went back into the loft to grab his phone. "You know, that photo series that some people do where it's like a progression of your baby bump from the first few weeks until you give birth. Then we could take one afterwards with the baby."

"I don't know," Jo said as she thought over the idea and Alex came back with his phone.

"We don't have to do the whole series and they could be for our eyes only, but can I at least get one photo of you right now?" Alex asked and he couldn't help the way his gaze softened as he looked at her.

Jo wasn't looking at him and was looking down at her belly again. She cradled her little bump with her hand as she had been doing the whole time. It was such a tender moment and he wanted to capture it and keep it forever.

"Okay," Jo said with a nod as she still stared down at her bump, but pulled back her hand so he could get a good photo of her belly.

He knew that Jo loved their baby so much already. They were both so excited for the baby and every new development was cause for celebration. Jo stood there in the bathroom holding her baby belly and staring down at it with the most wonderful look of adoration. She looked so enchanting and so full of love for their child in that moment and Alex had to remind himself to stop staring and take the photo.

Alex took a few photos and when he was done, he pulled them up on his phone and shared them with Jo. A large smile spread across her face as she looked through the photos. They weren't professional quality, but she looked gorgeous.

"It'd be nice to get some actual maternity photos done once I'm further along. These are nice, but I think we needed a different setting," Jo said putting a hand on his chest and pushing him out of the bathroom.

It quickly turned into a small photoshoot as they tried out a few different places and somehow they ended up with Jo on the bed as she cradled her bump and looked over at him with the softest smile across her face.

"You look so beautiful," Alex whispered, the word slipping off of his tongue as he paused to stare at her.

"Thank you," Jo whispered as a blush appeared across her cheeks.

Alex paused and took a second to look at his wife. They both seemed frozen in time as Jo stared down at her belly and Alex watched her before she looked up and met his gaze with a small smile. She got up and slowly walked over to him as he just watched her. When she stood before him, he reached out to hold her waist and caressed her bump with his thumbs. Jo held her hand against his cheek and leaned in to place the softest kiss against his lips.

"Have I told you that I loved you today," Alex asked as he pulled back.

"Yes, but I'd like to hear it again," Jo said with a smile.

"I love you," Alex whispered against her skin as his lips brushed her cheek.

"I love you too," Jo whispered, as she tilted her head and kissed his lips.
