AN: the first chapter of the new and improved Reincarnated as a Gamer

Disclaimer: I do not own That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime or any other franchises that appear in this work of fanfiction

—————————————————————————————————————

As I stood there waiting for the indicator to walk listening to cars zoom by I could barely stand still as the last episode of Reincarnated as a Slime season 2 was out so I could finally watch it (this is actually something I do I'll wait until the season is completed before watching any of it). I patted my bag which had some new figurines I'd bought of Shion and Shuna since Rimuru didn't deserve them. I was brought out of my train of thought by the light changing and indicating that I could go but after I'd only taken a few steps I heard people shouting and turned to see a large truck about to ram into me.

[Greetings recently deceased soul would you like to bond with me and live again as a gamer]

I immediately pinched myself to make sure this wasn't some dream or hallucination before smiling and answering "of course...partner."

[Thank you now for the first and most important part choosing your starting world]

[World Choices: DxD, MCU, DC, Dungeons, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Starcraft, Diablo 2, Reincarnated as a Slime,...]

"Reincarnated as a Slime" I choose the moment I spot it excited about actually being there.

[Race Choices: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Goblin, Lizardman, Ogre, Kobold, etc. etc.]

The list went on but the one that stuck out to me was Ogre so I could be like Shion and Shuna.

[Avatar Customization]

I settled on wild and spiky obsidian black hair, crimson eyes, pale alabaster skin, tar black tear streaks, three small curved ruby horns one on either side of my temples and one dead center, crimson claws and extended canines obviously, lean petite build and figure, delicate features, about 5 feet tall...anything else? Naw I think that's it. "Anything else?" I ask as the customization prompts vanish.

[Normally you would choose your name at this point but as you chose a monster race you start nameless]

"That makes sense." I said pouting as consciousness slipped through my fingers.

—————————————————————————————————————

I stirred as I felt light on my face and grass under me. Sitting up and looking around I saw I was in a clearing and wearing only some ragged cloth covering my lady bits. I decided to first check my status.

"So my race gives each stat a x10 modifier but that level cap" I muttered.

[Technically there isn't a level cap that's just the point at which you'll evolve into a Kijin]

"Ah that is much better now to check my skills" I say aloud.

[Gamer's Rift Sensor (Passive/Max): allows you to sense, locate, and interact with Dungeon Rifts within 100 meters of your location.]

"Alright basic but essential and useful" I say as I stand up before asking "how can I get more skills?"

[There are a few ways to get skills one is through skill books, another is being taught by someone knowledgeable in that skill, there is also attempted use of the skill to unlock it, and finally spending your stat points to buy them]

"So I can sacrifice improving my stats to get additional skills" I say to myself. I stood up and noticed that there was a rift not far from me and began heading in its direction.

"Well there is definitely no way to mistake this for anything else" I whispered to myself as I looked at the fractured and deformed space in front of me. I stuck out my hand to see what would happen only for the moment it touched to rift the rift shifted and folded forming an archway through which I could see sand and what looked like ancient Egyptian ruins.

As I stepped through I felt it go from maybe low 70s to something closer to 100 degrees. I decided to head towards the ruins looking for enemies and loot. As I got closer I started to hear the clacking of bone and rattling of armor, turning I spotted a small group of about 5 skeletons wearing ancient Egyptian armor. "Gamer's Sight".

I stood stock still in horror "N-Nehekharan? as in the place with nothing but undead in the Warhammer: Fantasy Battle universe?" I ask myself in horror.

[Indeed this rift transports you to Nehekhara to fight the Tomb Kings]

I quickly brought my emotions under control before charging and hoping to take them by surprise. My first punch shattered some of the lead one's bones and stunned it allowing me to steal its sword and use it to cut off its head. 'Gamer's Sight'.

[Ancient Nehekharan Sword: Str15 damage 49/100 durability]

"Alright not bad" I said as I used it to block the spear of one of the remaining four before grabbing it and yanking it out of the skeleton's hands and used it to pin another to the ground. I back stepped to avoid the slash of one only to step into the path of another spear and receive a cut to my side.

In retaliation I shoulder checked that skeleton causing it to instantly shatter. As the one I pinned down finally broke the spear and got up I grabbed it's sword in my other hand and cut it down before turning to the remaining two skeletons. Who apparently learned and attacked in tandem so I didn't have a chance to attack before I decide to just bite the bullet and let one spear pierce my side so I could close in and finish them off.

[5 Ancient Nehekharan Warriors defeated: 5/level/enemy for 125 Exp, 3 Ancient Nehekharan Swords, 2 Ancient Nehekharan Spears, 5 Ancient Nehekharan Shields, 5 Ancient Nehekharan Armor sets]

[Skill Unlocked: Sword Mastery]

"No bad for a first fight" I said as I equipped the Ancient Nehekharan Armor causing me to be wearing tarnished gold armbands/bracers and leg bands/shin guards with sandals, an armored skirt, and a metal collar covering my shoulders and chest in a flash of light. I then sheathed the two swords on my hips before turning once more towards the ruins with a small smile on my face.

[Ancient Nehekharan Armor: negate 20 points worth of incoming physical damage. 73/100 durability]

—————————————————————————————————————

I looked up as I neared the partially opened gate to try and see anyone up on the walls. "I hope there's more than just those five skeletons here" I think aloud as I pass through into a courtyard with a group of 10 skeletons in a line of shields ready and raised with 5 skeletal Archers diagonally on either side arrows notched and pointed at me.

"Ah that is more like it" I say as I draw my swords which even with just one level already feel natural in my hands. I launched myself forward and immediately jerked to the left dodging the fired arrows and heading for the archers as they're the biggest threats at the moment.

I managed to close the distance just as they renotched their bows and instantly bisected two of them before moving on to the remaining 3 on this side. I managed to dodge two of the incoming arrows from the other group but the other three hit, one bounced off my armor while another pierced my left side and the last went clean through my left leg.

[Critical Damage: 30x2=60 damage]

I tackled the middle one as I used my swords to knock down the other two and quickly finish the three off at which point I stood and turned to the shield bearers who had turned and closed in. "Come on you worthless skeletons give me a fight" I said as I decided to test and try to use some magic causing flames to flow along the blades of my sword and to swirl around me.

[Skill Unlocked: Imbue Flames]

[Imbue Flames (Active/1): cover your weapons in flames adding 5 Fire damage per skill level. 5 MP/second.]

[Skill Unlocked: Flame Aura]

[Flame Aura (Active/1): surround yourself in flames dealing 10 Fire damage per second per skill level. 10 MP/second.]

'I can only keep this up for about a minute so got to make it count' I thought as I charged the shield wall.

"Not bad, not bad at all" I said as I walked into one of the side buildings to investigate what was inside discovering that it was an old library with scrolls and remnants of scrolls scattered everywhere. "Maybe I'll find some skill books in here" I said as I started sifting through the scrolls to try and find anything of value.

After an hour of organizing and separating scrolls I found only a handful of ones that could give me skills.

I wasn't surprised that I couldn't find any one about Magic since that would be located wherever the Mortuary Cult is. Decided to leave for today and come back later.

After reentering the forest I was originally in I decided to wander around a bit so as to get the lay of the land when I stumbled across a clearing with makeshift tents and huts with little green creatures walking around before noticing me and calling for the chief. When the chief walked out of his tent only one thought went through my head 'Rigurd!'

At that precise moment in another world a middle aged man was stabbed and killed.
