Late
Him leaving for London was difficult. Going home with a rocket was difficult. It was all difficult. Rory felt like she was drowning above water. It was barely two weeks after he left when she realised that she was late. A week late. And like most things she tended to be pretty punctual, so she did what every twenty-one-year-old does when they realise they are late. She bought a pregnancy test in Woodbury and took it in the bathroom of her best friend's house. Lane was taking her own test too, skillfully marked with an 'L' on the handle and sank to the floor to wait for the results. Seeing that second line when they checked it a minute later made both girls want to throw up but Zach was there giving Lane a hug and all Rory wanted was that. Her mother didn't matter in that second she was still so angry at her for sleeping with and then dating her father without consulting her.
She pulled out her phone and called Finn, the happy go, lucky guy. The guy that she knew would help her. He agreed to what she asked with so few questions it made her smile. She just went home, picked up a few things and drove to the airport. Her ticket was behind the desk. She checked in and found that she had a travel companion in Finn who tried to ply her both with booze which she rejected and then with coffee which to her sadness she also refused. His comment of 'ok mother we'll get you to father soon' had her bursting into tears in the first-class lounge. She didn't need to say anything else, Finn just gave her a hug and said it would be ok. He surreptitiously texted on his phone immediately though.
Twelve hours later they arrived at Heathrow Airport, where a very confused looking Logan held a sign saying 'Ace' and Rory practically threw herself at him. 'It's ok Ace. I've got you.' the words she needed to hear and she was crying again. Finn said adieu and Logan ushered Rory to a car that would take them to his flat. Rory spent the forty-five-minute drive crying into Logan's chest and he was getting more worried by the minute, but he held her and just revelled in having her in London. They hadn't even kissed yet.
He had been caught off guard by Finn's text of arrival time at Heathrow, luckily it was a Saturday and he had no plans, the subsequent message of 'I have mother with me' had made his heart stutter for a second but he headed to Heathrow and one look had told him that Rory was scared and worried and that was a combo he didn't like. Not on his Ace. The minute they got to his flat he had her in his lap on a sofa and she told him about the test. About thinking it was nothing originally but taking the test and that she had just wanted him. He had smiled at that. His internal freakout was tiny which shocked him but he realised he wanted this. He wanted her, he wanted them as a unit.
'I love you Rory' was all he said into her hair, as she burst into tears again and asked the inevitable question of 'what are we going to do?' he smiled at that 'it's your choice Rory but just so you know I'm in. I'm all in on this on you and the bean. In fact, stay here' he got up from the couch and headed into the bedroom where he pulled a blue velvet box out of the bedside cabinet.' Rory shook her head when she saw it. 'Logan…when did you?' Logan smirked 'I bought this after I got your text message' which had her laughing at the idea that a dirty text message had convinced him that he wanted to marry her.
'Why?' he smiled then 'because I knew then that we could make it long haul, I suspected it before when you told me to go to London but I knew then, because Rory if you were willing to do something so completely out of your comfort zone for me, for us, I knew you were it.' That had her in tears again as he knelt in front of her and asked if she would marry him. The ring was stunning an oval blue sapphire the colour of the sea flanked by two flawless diamonds on a platinum band.
'Lorelai Leigh Gilmore would you do me the honour of marrying me?' Rory was nodding before he finished his sentence and Logan had the ring on her finger a second later. Then they were hugging and Logan was kissing her for what felt like the first time in weeks because it was. They moved into the bedroom and after a few rounds, Logan and Rory fell asleep together, him almost cradling her in his arms against him. His hand protectively on her stomach and her hand covering his.
A/N Ok… so I've gotten stuck on Alternate Dreams and this idea came to me- should I one-shot it or adapt it to something longer…. Let me know what you think!
