There's no way out. There's no way to win. Every possible choice leads to death.

But I have to keep going. Keep smiling.

It's the only thing I can do.

He's approaching. I don't know what to do, but I have no choice.

If this man survives, it'll all be over.

"You should give up, All Might."

Shut. Up.

"You know there's no way to win."

Damn right I do.

But I have to try.

No matter the cost.

"I know what you're thinking. You can never beat me."

"Enough of this! Your reign has gone on too long," All Might shouted through the pain, "All for One!"

He rushed forward with all his energy, screaming at the top of his lungs.

There are people counting on me.

"Go beyond..." All Might whispered through gritted teeth.

He shifted into a yell as his fist connected, "Plus Ultra!"

All for One blasted through the sky, having felt the full, unadulterated force of All Might's quirk.

Not even... he.. could survive that... All Might thought as he collapsed.

In the 21st century, people began manifesting unnatural abilities that came to be known as quirks. When quirks first started to appear, society all but collapsed. Thousands of people were using their powers to cause chaos, and nobody was around to stop them until the first heroes appeared. Some people chose to use their quirks for good, to stop the superpowered criminals. They called themselves vigilantes. Eventually, laws were changed and rewritten to be suited for a superpowered society, and vigilantism was outlawed. The police were no match for criminals who used their quirks freely, so a new profession was created, one similar to the vigilantes: Professional Heroism. Heroes were paid by the government to use their quirks to defeat Villains. Society quickly latched onto the idea of heroes, and being one was every kid's dream.

Izuku Midoriya was as big of a hero fan as a kid could get. He loved the way that heroes could bring hope to even the darkest situation, and aspired to be just like them. Above all, Izuku was obsessed with the hero All Might. Every day he eagerly watched an old video of All Might's debut.

The titan rose above the wreckage, only a silhouette against the roaring flames. He was carrying at least 10 people at once.

"Hope has arrived," he shouted through the computer speakers, his smile clearly visible on the dark screen, "because I am here!"

That simple phrase was enough to relieve everyone present at the disaster. It still gave Izuku goosebumps whenever he heard it, despite having watched the clip hundreds of times.

Despite all this, it seemed that he would never get the chance to be a hero, all because of one small detail.

Izuku Midoriya was quirkless.

Such a glaring issue, making his dreams near impossible. And yet, Midoriya never gave up hope. Unfortunately, hope alone wasn't enough.

Pretty short chapter, but I wanted to get the beginning stuff out of the way so that I have a reason to write more. That said, don't expect an upload schedule. Honestly, I'm pretty inconsistent.
