Alright new story for you all. Don't worry I'll get back to Deku's Bizarre Adventure and Quirk analysis soon enough. I just needed to write something simple to break my writer's block. Now I should warn you this is a yuri story. If you aren't a fan of that skip this.
Chapter 1: A New School
"Alright class before we get started, I'd like to announce a new student will be joining us today. Come in and introduce yourself young lady." The teacher said gesturing towards the door.
Catching the attention of every other student, a young girl, with messy shoulder length green hair, entered the room. She adjusted her glasses and wrote her name on the chalkboard. After almost a minute, she gained enough confidence to speak.
"Hello everyone my name is Izumi Midoriya. It's nice to meet you all." She said with a polite bow and a nervous stutter.
"Thank you, Miss Midoriya. You'll sit by Miss Uraraka in the back." The teacher had already been informed of her situation, so he was not surprised at how brief her introduction was. He decided to not push the girl into anything she was uncomfortable with and moved on.
A polite looking girl with brown hair in a bob cut and permanent blush marks on her cheeks pointed to the empty seat beside her. Izumi sat down in the empty seat and took out her notebook. The brunette gave her a kind smile, and Izumi forced herself to smile back before returning her attention to the lecture.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka. It's nice to meet you." She said with her kind smile never leaving her face.
"It's nice to meet you too." Izumi stammered out.
Ochaco could not focus on the lesson. Instead, her attention was on the girl sitting next to her. She could tell the smile given earlier was fake and noticed the emotional distance in her eyes. The brunette also noticed a second notebook in Izumi's book bag, but this one was burnt and had what looked like small water stains on the pages.
As the day went by, Izumi's mood never improved. She kept her distance from her classmates and did nothing but dodge their questions. Anytime someone would touch her shoulder in order to get her attention, she would flinch. People crowding around her to try to introduce themselves would result in her starting to panic, and the teacher had to pull her away from them. She was taken to the nurse's office and waited there until she calmed down.
When lunch came around Ochaco was curious about where Izumi disappeared to. She wanted to help the girl anyway she could. She asked around, and most of her classmates told her nothing. It was not until the tenth person she talked to that she learned Izumi had decided to eat lunch on the roof. Fearing the worst Ochaco hurried to the roof.
Izumi stood on the roof of the school looking towards the city in the distance. In her right hand she clutched a burnt notebook labeled "Hero Analysis for the Future No. 12." The notebook hung open with its contents displaying an in depth analysis on a random hero and a detailed drawing of said hero. Multiple times she debated whether or not she should throw the notebook away. As of right now the notebook did nothing but remind of a past she wanted to forget and a dream she could never achieve.
The only thing keeping her attached to the notebook was the amount of work she put into it. With a heavy sigh she leaned over the railing and looked down at the schoolyard before her. Very briefly her mind wandered to the awful things her classmates did to her at her old school. She locked all those thoughts away and fought back tears. She was so lost in her thought that she did not hear the door open behind her.
"Hey Midoriya." Ochaco called out. Izumi returned the greeting with a small wave and forced smile. "I thought I might find you here. You looked upset all day. I wanted to talk to you and see if you needed any help."
"Thank you, but I'm fine. It's just a little overwhelming being in a new school." Izumi lied hoping she would be left alone. Sadly, her plan backfired.
"Yeah, I get that. Transferring to a new school and leaving all your friends behind must be tough." Ochaco noticed that Izumi's mood dropped even more at that statement. At that moment, Ochaco knew that there was more to it than a simple move.
She decided to not press on because she figured that Izumi was not going to confide in a person she just met. Izumi at this moment wanted nothing more than to be left alone, but she could not bring herself to say it. For some reason, Ochaco had a comforting presence. The two girls ate in a comfortable silence until their lunch break ended.
The school day went on, and Izumi's mood seemed to improve after lunch. Most passive observers did not notice the difference, but Ochaco knew right away how much better the green haired girl felt after lunch. Izumi's smile when greeting people became less forced, and she was less hesitant to get close to others. There were a couple of instances of minor panic attacks, and she still flinched when people touched her. Although, they were less frequent and severe than this morning.
The school day ended, and Izumi headed towards her shoe locker. She had just started changing into her outdoor shoes when Ochaco arrived. The brunette got her shoes out of her locker which was right next to Izumi's. Not wanting to startle the other girl, Ochaco waited until Izumi noticed her before she greeted her. As soon as Izumi finished putting her shoes on, she saw Ochaco, and she relaxed.
"Hey Midoriya. I see our lockers are right next to each. Between that and sitting next to each other in class, we'll be seeing each other a lot." Ochaco said as politely as possible.
"Seems like it." Izumi paused a bit before continuing. "I wanted to thank you again for talking to me during lunch earlier. Even though I didn't say much."
"It's no problem. Are you heading to the station?"
"Yeah I am. Why do you ask? Do you want to go with me?"
"I would love to, but only if you're okay with it. I don't want pressure into something you're uncomfortable with."
"No, I want to go with you. I'm still new in town so I was hoping you could show me around."
The two left the school grounds after they grabbed their bags. They made small talk on their way to the subway station. They paused for a moment, and Izumi let out a content sigh.
Maybe this school will be better. Unlike before I actually have a friend. Izumi thought as she looked at Uraraka. They boarded the train and headed home.
