Preface: Hello, everyone, and happy Easter, if that's what you celebrate! This story is one of two Whisker Haven-themed one-shots in my itnerary, and it kinda ties in with Minecraft Maniacs RPG a little! Hope you enjoy!

Featherbon Beginnings

[Character Selected: Petite]
[Current World: Whisker Planet]
[Current Location: Whisker Haven Pawlace, Library]

Petite was in her special library, scanning the other day, Pumpkin had asked the pony if she had a book that explained all aspects of Whisker Haven and its neighboring dimensions in her library. "Okay, let's see here," she said, beginning the latest bookshelf. "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream...The Little Red Hen...oh, not again!"

Ever since Disney's acquisition of Fox closed, Petite kept finding The Simpsons Family History in her library. She stared at the book covering the in-universe history of America's favorite yellow-skinned family for only a moment before tossing it to the side and continuing her search. "Steamboat Willie...The McDuck Clan...ah! Here we go! 'Whisker Haven Encyclopedia!'"

Petite took the volume off the shelf. It was big, brown, and dusty. This must be incredibly old, she thought as she opened it up and began to read. Let's see…"Origin of Ms. Featherbon"...

[Flashback]

[Character Selected: Ms. Featherbon]
[Current World: Dreamy's World]
[Current Location: Aurora's Kingdom]

[BGM: George Burns - Main Title (Once Upon a Dream)]

Daisey Featherbon was born as part of a series of triplets from the hummingbird Ella Featherbon. Her birth did not go as planned - her egg dropped from the nest shortly before she was born, and while she lived, the fall did a small number on her brain, making her rather forgetful and scatterbrained.

As a kid, Daisey didn't want to do the more active roles her sisters did. Rather, she wanted to learn magic. She watched as the three good fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, did their magic work around the garden, raising Aurora to protect her from Maleficent's curse. "Why can't I learn magic, mother?" she always asked. "It seems to be rather fun."

"Magic can be very dangerous," she was told, "especially if it's done by a hummingbird whose brain is even just a little scrambled." Ella was a rather stern but loving mother.

After spending her childhood fawning over the fairies, Daisey decided that one day, now that she was an adult, she would try to learn magic from them on her own. Shortly after Aurora took her place as princess, Daisey appeared before the three good fairies. "Hello, good fairies," she said. "I am Daisey Featherbon and I would like to learn how to be a fairy. Can you teach me magic?"

"Er, I am not too sure," said Fauna. "I don't think birds can learn magic."

"Of course they can't," interjected Merryweather. "Their brains aren't as developed as ours!"

"Erm, actually," said Flora, "I believe I have created a way she can become magical."

That piqued Daisey's interest. "What is it?" she asked, excitedly.

"Follow me!" said Flora. The fairy led Daisey to a special part of the castle, deep underground. It was almost like a dungeon repurposed as a special place for creating things out of magic.

Daisey stared at the glowing green dust that was on the table in the middle. "What are these?" she inquired.

"I call these glitterbits," explained Flora. "If you touch them, you should become magical like us!"

Daisey looked around the room, making sure only she and Flora were there. Then, she braced herself and gave a tiny tap on the glitterbits with her wing. Right away, they began to glow and sparkle, until...poof! They vanished without a trace. But then, Daisey felt an odd feeling inside of her. "I feel...magical," she said, her uneasiness slowly being replaced with excitement. "That means...I'm a fairy now!" Happily, she flew around the dungeon and watched as magical particles now followed her everywhere.

"Indeed," replied the oldest fairy, "but you still must be trained. I shall teach you the most basic of magical spells in secret starting tomorrow." Daisey was eager to get started. After so long, she was finally able to do what her mother forbade her to do.

[BGM: George Burns - The Gifts of Beauty and Song]

Each day, she was taught how to do all sorts of spells. At first, she had trouble getting it right. For example, when she tried to summon an umbrella out of thin air, she instead summoned a plank of wood. Quickly, Daisey learned that magic was not something that she would automatically know how to do - despite this, her will to be a fairy made her a diligent learner, and before long, she was able to summon things correctly and even ask a magic fountain to show her visions by dipping a little bit of the glitterbits into it.

And then one day, Aurora found a little pink kitten napping in her garden. When she wasn't looking, Daisey went to visit the newfound palace pet. The princess had named the kitten Beauty, but Daisey secretly thought Dreamy fit her better, watching her calmly snooze on Aurora's bed. Such a sweet little kitten, she thought. Imagine if she was the ruler of this kingdom.

The thought persisted and, like the feeling of being magical, exploded. Right away, Daisey went to her mentor. "Flora! I just had a splenderific idea!" she declared. "What if there was a special kingdom where a princess's pet could rule?"

"That is a very interesting idea," said Flora, "but I doubt it would be possible. There's not much room, anyway!"

Daisey began to brainstorm ideas. A hidden cove? Nah, too secretive. A barrier that makes everything within it invisible? Too complicated. And that was when she got an idea she finally liked. "What about another dimension?" she suggested.

"Perhaps, but what would we…" That was when Flora got a thought. "Of course! The Gadgets of Order!"

"Gadgets of Order?" repeated Daisey.

"Indeed!" Flora took her apprentice back to the underground room where Daisey was first introduced to the gliterbits. This time, she was shown five twirling white objects that each glowed different colors. "These are magical artifacts that each come in a set of triplets! Whilst the two other sets of five have found their place, this set does not seem to have its own place."

My, they sound almost like myself, Daisey thought. "What shall we do with them?" she asked.

"I have discovered a mysterious realm that is inhabited by anthropomorphic animals instead of humans," explained Flora. "We will use them to create a portal to this realm and you can create the kingdom."

And so, Flora, placed a touch of magic within the gadgets and they began to twirl around in a circle. The two fairies began to shoot magic energy out of their fingertips within the ring, and before long, a portal appeared in the fabric of reality, revealing a world where anthropomorphic animals lived much like humans.

"I cannot believe it worked," said Daisey, peering into the portal. "Thank you for everything you taught me, Flora."

"You are very welcome, Daisey," said the good fairy. "And remember: you may return any time for more training."

[BGM: George Burns - Skumps]

The hummingbird immediately went to work creating a beautiful kingdom. Constructing it physically was simple - with her magic, a beautiful palace, a town square with houses and a fountain, shops for daily needs, and other aspects of life were built in seconds, and some of the animals began to inhabit the kingdom.

The hard part, however, was deciding the right pet to be the ruler. Having taken the Gadgets of Order with her, Daisey went to the throne room of the palace (well, she called it a Pawlace) and spread them out into a bigger circle than before. She stood in the middle of the circle, focused on all of her magic, and shot it out into the circle. Seven stained-glass portraits appeared on the walls of the room, depicting the princesses Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, and Tiana. However, something odd also happened - all but one of the gadgets shot out into the sky, their current fate unknown.

Hmm, that was odd, Daisey thought, taking the remaining gadget. But she put the thought aside for now. The stained glass portraits served as portals to the other princess' kingdoms, so in secret, Daisey went into each portal on a regular basis, searching for the right pet while she temporarily served as the ruler of the kingdom.

There was one problem, however - none of the pets seemed like they could rule on their own. They were either too naive, too rambunctious, or too interdependent. Attempting a time travel spell wasn't too successful, either - Daisey was successful in traveling to the future in the kingdom of Princess Belle, where in a town in what was called the USA, she found the pet platypus of two extraordinary stepbrothers, even if they were commoners. Despite this, the platypus seem too preoccupied with fighting a disgruntled pharmacist, so he was also off the list.

After a few months, Daisey was just about to give up her search. "None of those pets seem good enough," she thought aloud as she prepared for bed one night. "It almost seems like they have the potential to be good rulers, but not if they...do it alone."

The final three words banged around Daisy's head as she slept that night. And then, when she woke up that morning, it finally hit her. Oh, yeah! Duh! Don't have a specific ruler - have the pets manage the kingdom together!

The hummingbird returned to the kingdom she once called home. Sneaking into Aurora's palace, lying there in the sunlight was Dreamy, letting out a sweet little snore. Daisey gently set down in front of the kitten, and she slowly woke up. "Hello, Dreamy!" said Daisey. "Mind if I show you something?"

[End of Flashback]

"And ever since that day, the kingdom has grown into what we now know as Whisker Haven, welcoming more and more pets each day," Petite finished reading. "And from the looks of things, it'll remain thriving for years to come!"

As she finished, Petite realized how much time she had spent reading the book. Oh, dear! she thought, looking up at the clock. Time certainly does fly when you're doing something you love! She picked up the book and placed it back onto the shelf. But that was really interesting! Something tells me that was the book Pumpkin was looking for! Her question answered, the pony left the library, the only thought in her head being why the puppy wanted it in the first place.

Of course, if you've been paying attention to some other tales, you'd know that her question would be answered soon enough.

Postface: Quite magical, isn't it? I thought it made a bit of sense that Ms. Featherbon wasn't born a fairy and became magical by other means, not to mention creating Whisker Haven itself. The reason why I incorporated elements from Sleeping Beauty is because, according to the Whisker Haven videos on the Disney Junior YouTube channel, she comes from those fairy traditions! I just hope I got the fairies in-character! But I bet you weren't expecting the Gadgets of Order to show up! I thought that'd be a fun way of connecting it to the current Minecraft Maniacs RPG arc.

That should be it! Please read, review, and share around, and I'll see you all later! Stay diamond, everyone!
