Placing the sealed letter that he had so painstakingly written, on top of his Gold Five 0 badge that he had placed in the center of Lou's desk where Lou would find them, Danny stood for a moment, staring at sealed envelope. He hoped that his letter would explain everything, the reasons why he had to leave the life that he had made not only for himself but also Gracie and Charlie on the islands, his Five 0 ohana, Five 0, and all his friends behind, just as Steve had done a year before.
Life had not been the same since Steve had left and as hard as he had tried, during the past year, he had not been able to fill the large, painful hole in his life or his heart that Steve had left behind, nor could he live any longer with the constant reminders of what he had lost and what could have been. Running a shaking hand through his hair, he forced himself to turn around and walk out the door, pulling Lou's office door quietly closed behind him. He paused as he reached the sliding glass doors that led into the Five 0 offices and turning back, took one last look around before he turned back around and walked out of the doors for the last time.
