How Canon Ships work in Harry Potter…

This explains the reasons why JKR chose the ships, or at least a piece of it, because the names of the ships must match up with their significant other(s).

What do I mean, well, let's just say the first and middle name must match and sound perfect with the surname of their significant other, which goes both ways, the couple names have to sound perfect like that.

Here are the full names of the side and main characters of the harry potter cast including their nicknames (like gred and forge,or padfoot, moony, etc.,) most of the characters not all of them:

James Charlus Potter(Prongs)

Lily Jasmine Evans
Petunia Jewel Evans

Dudley Vernon Dursley

Harry James Potter

Ronald Billius Weasley

Hermione Jean Granger

Neville Franklin Longbottom

Daphne Ariel Greengrass

Astoria Nicole Greengrass

Tracey Nicola Davies

Hannah Elizabeth Abbott

Susan Amelia Bones

Sirius Orion Black(Padfoot)

Remus John Lupin(Moony)

Peter Christopher Pettigrew(Wormtail)

William Arthur Weasley 'Bill'

Charles Septimus Weasley 'Charlie'

Percival Ignatius Weasley 'Percy'

Frederick Gideon Weasley 'Fred'

George Fabian Weasley 'George'

Ginerva Molly Weasley 'Ginny'

Draconis Lucius Malfoy

Arthur Septimus Weasley

Molly Elizabethine Weasley

Severus Tobias Snape

Luna Selene Lovegood

Cho Angelica Chang

Demelza Melinda Robbins

Fleur Isabelle Delacour

Gabrielle Dominque Delcacour

Angelina Charlene Johnson

Audrey Ella Greengrass(a cousin to the greengrass sisters as the names fit and found it on a fanfiction story makes sense.)

Katie Hannah Bell

Lavender Andrea Brown

Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks

Take the non-canon shipping examples…

Let's see, we'll start with the popular non-canon shipping Harmione(Harry/Hermione) to see if their names match up perfectly and in Hermione's case we'll be using Hyphenated Potter-Granger or Granger-Potter, for the first option if Hermione wants a hyphenated married name with Harry and second option where she gives it up for Harry's surname.

1st option with the hyphenated versions of the surnames:

Hermione Granger-Potter, Jean Granger-Potter, Hermione Jean Granger-Potter, Hermione Potter-Granger, Jean Potter-Granger, Hermione Jean Potter-Granger,

does the name sound right to you at all? I don't think so perhaps only 25% alright now let's do Harry's name next.

Harry Granger-Potter, James Granger-Potter, Harry James Granger-Potter, Harry Potter-Granger, James Potter-Granger, Harry James Potter-Granger.

Does Harry's name sound perfect with Hermione's last name in hyphenated form in both versions of the hyphenation. I don't think so perhaps only 25%

2nd option using the names originally as intended without the use of hyphenation maiden and married name using the same example of Harry/hermione ships.

Harry Granger, James Granger, Harry James Granger=3.50.

Hermione Potter, Jean Potter, Hermione Jean Potter=25 only on Hermione's side.

We'll be using Harry non canon ships with the rest of the example as he is the main character in the story series and whatnot.

Next non canon example: Harry/Luna.

Harry Lovegood, James Lovegood, Harry James Lovegood=0% match

Luna Potter, Selene Potter, Luna Selene Potter=0% match

Next non-canon ship: Harry/Daphne

Harry Greengrass, James Greengrass, Harry James Greengrass=0

Daphne Potter, Ariel Potter, Daphne Ariel Potter=0

Next non canon ship: Harry/Cho

Harry Chang, James Chang, Harry James Chang= -1000

Cho Potter, Angelica Potter, Cho Angelica Potter=-1000

Next non canon ship: Harry/Katie Bell.

Harry Bell, James Bell, Harry James Bell=0

Katie Potter, Hannah Potter, Katie Hannah Potter=25-50 one way on Katie's side.

5th non-canon ship: Harry/Astoria(yes there are ships like that in fanfiction):

Harry Greengrass, James Greengrass, Harry James Greengrass=0 on Harry's side

Astoria Potter, Nicole Potter, Astoria Nicole Potter=25%-50 on Astoria's side.

(I'll give two more non-canon shipping examples and show you the ones who I know have gotten together in the canon shipping versions)

6th Non-canon ship: Harry/Tracey

Harry Davies, James Davies, Harry James Davies=45-50 on Harry's side surprisingly

Tracey Potter, Nicola Potter, Tracey Nicola Potter=45-50 on Tracey's side.

7th non-canon ship: Harry/Susan

Harry Bones, James Bones, Harry James Bones=0

Susan Potter, Amelia Potter, Susan Amelia Potter=0%

So there are basically on one person besides ginny, harry is a perfect match, perhaps, 3 matches, if you ignore one side, and Harry/hermione is not a perfect match I hope this explained things better this time around, if it didn't then you readers are more denser than even Dudley Dursley himself and he failed consistently in his classes thereby still getting promoted by the use of money from his parents.

Now I'll show you why JKR chose the canon ships for the couplings in canon I'll start with the main adults first, like Remus and Tonks.

1st canon couple: Remus/Tonks(Nymphadora)

Remus Tonks, John Tonks, Remus John Tonks, Moony Tonks=100% perfect match.

Nymphadora Lupin, Andromeda Lupin, Nymphadora Andromeda Lupin, Tonks Lupin=100% perfect match.

2nd canon couple: Bill/Fleur

William Delacour, Arthur Delacour, William Arthur Delacour, Bill Delacour=100%

Fleur Weasley, Isabelle Weasley, Fleur Isabelle Weasley=100%

3rd canon couple: Percy/Audrey

Percival Greengrass, Ignatius Greengrass, Percival Ignatius Greengrass, Percy Greengrass=100.

Audrey Weasley, Ella Weasley, Audrey Ella Weasley=100

4th canon couple: George/Angelina

George Johnson, Fabian Johnson, George Fabian Johnson=100% perfect.

Angelina Weasley, Charlene Weasley, Angelina Charlene Weasley.

5th canon: Neville/Hannah

Neville Abbott, Franklin Abbott, Neville Franklin Abbott=100

Hannah Longbottom, Elizabeth Longbottom, Hannah Elizabeth Longbottom=100

6th canon couple: Ron/Hermione, (using Granger-Weasley and Weasley-Granger) and normal like before

1st option using Granger-Weasley and Weasley-Granger.

Ronald Granger-Weasley, Billius Granger-Weasley, Ronald Billius Granger-Weasley, Ron Granger-Weasley, Ronald Weasley-Granger, Billius Weasley-Granger, Ron Weasley-Granger=100 match.

Hermione Granger-Weasley, Jean Granger-Weasley, Hermione Jean Granger-Weasley, Hermione Weasley-Granger, Jean Weasley-Granger, Hermione Jean Weasley-Granger=100 match

2nd option if Hermione gives up her maiden name for Ron's surname of Weasley:

Ronald Granger, Billius Granger, Ronald Billius Granger, Ron Granger=100 name match.

Hermione Weasley, Jean Weasley, Hermione Jean Weasley=100% perfect name match.

7th canon couple: Harry/Ginny

Harry Weasley, James Weasley, Harry James Weasley=100 name match.

Ginerva Potter, Molly Potter, Ginerva Molly Potter, Ginny Potter=100% perfect name match.

Now you see how the name turn out to be perfect matches and if you are the son or daughter of divorced parents and then compare your parents names like I've done and you wouldn't be surprised if the reason they divorced was because they lost the spark and the names also didn't match up either basically divorced parents chose the second best option when the 1st option isn't available or isn't realistic. So to speak, basically they were settling rather than loving one another, their hearts weren't in it fully. Kind of like the three bears and goldilocks, as you see papa and mama bear had separate beds. That is what it means by settling when you can't have the best. This is the reason why people need to search for their true to god soulmate or be celibate if you aren't able to find one. Thank you. Use the name I've listed above to create your own ships if you wish just make sure they match up, if they don't, I will consider them to be settling without putting much effort into the relationship as that is how I see all non canon ships. Ie., settling, forced to marry someone else when you really want another person. And that sort of thing. I believe I have said enough thank you.

Authors Note: Yes it does hold up in real-life this authors note is a reply to burnsidhe who doesn't allow private messaging nor does he/she write their own stories to leave an review so i could reply to the person:

Take real life. My great-grandparents (both maternal and paternal have 100% perfect matching names) same thing with grandparents on both sides as well as my own parents. My name is Casey Lee Anderson.

I will be starting with my maternal family first, meaning I will start with my maternal great grandparents, Thurman Lee Sorrow and Mart Frances Landers.

Thurman Landers, Lee Landers, Thurman Lee Landers=100% perfect.

Mary Sorrow, Frances Sorrow, Mary Frances Sorrow=100% perfect

My maternal grandparents names were William Donald Carnes and Martha Frances Sorrow.

William Sorrow, Donald Sorrow, William Donald Sorrow=100% perfect.

Martha Carnes, Frances Carnes, Martha Frances Carnes=100% perfect name match again twice in a row. Yes my grandma was named after my great-grandma. Weird I know.

Now on to my paternal side of the family, my paternal great grandparents name were Grady Lee Anderson and Rosa Lenos Brewer

Grady Brewer, Lee Brewer, Grady Lee Brewer=100% match.

Rosa Anderson, Lenos Anderson, Rosa Lenos Anderson=100% match again.

Now onto my paternal grandparents (My dad's mom and dad). Their names are Kenneth Grady Anderson and Jo Savannah Amanda Lou Lamb.

Kenneth Lamb, Grady Lamb, Kenneth Grady Lamb=100% match

Jo Anderson, Savannah Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Lou Anderson, Jo Savannah Amanda Lou Anderson=100% match in my own family four in a row what are the odds hmmm?

Now onto my own parents, my mom and dad's name are Kenneth Dale Anderson and Vicki Lee Carnes.

Kenneth Carnes, Dale Carnes, Kenneth Dale Carnes=alright I'll admit on my dad's not quite as much as his parents, but it's close about 99.90% match. or a 97% match which is more than enough to survive a marriage with their significant other if the names goes one way.

Vicki Anderson, Lee Anderson, Vicki Lee Anderson=100% perfect name match on my mom's perhaps only a 97% match on my dad's but this in turn should prove my theory and my parent's haven't even divorced whatsoever they are still married and happily as well, too.

So now onto prove it some more with my maternal cousins family (1st cousin, mom (my mom's sister) and dad

My maternal aunt and uncle names are Terri Lynn Carnes and Gary Samuel Logan.

Gary Carnes, Samuel Carnes, Gary Samuel Carnes=100% perfect match.

Terri Logan, Lynn Logan, Terri Lynn Logan=100% perfect match with the names.

Now I hope I've said enough to convince you all and to you reviewers out there turn on your private messagings if you will unless you are chicken shits.
