Beacon Academy, the premiere school for becoming a hunter and/or huntress. She had made it, despite everything that was against her, all of the responsibility she had at home she pushed through. Yang Xiao-Long was going to finally and truly be on her way to becoming a huntress, to protecting the ones she cared about. She hated having to leave Ruby behind but she had to. Her dad Taiyang was afraid of Yang becoming a Huntress because of what happened to her as a kid (damn her little kid feet not outrunning a Beowulf), as well as what happened to her step mom. But he relented after her uncle Qrow talked some sense into him. Her dad was overprotective but she understood why. It came from a good place and he could always be made to see reason. Not like she could really blame him anyways, not after what the other thing that happened to her when she was a kid.

When she was on her way to Beacon on the bullhead she was worried about Ruby. The hyperactive girl was always getting herself into trouble (most of the time without even trying). She also tended to be accident prone especially because she rarely paid attention. The amount of times Yang would freak out that Ruby was hurt and think she needed a doctor was unaccountable at this point. Tai and Qrow never really worried about it.

Initiation was a blast, she met some cool people and not so cool people. The team she was put on was a member short which was unfortunate but couldn't be helped. To make up for it the headmaster said that when it came to missions, training etc, where they needed four people they could enlist the help of anyone from the first or second years who were not busy. The headmaster tried finding someone to fill the spot but there just wasn't any good candidates. The team consisted of Yang herself, Blake Belladona, and the ever demanding Weiss Schnee. Much to Weiss's dismay she was not made team leader with the so called blonde brute being the leader. Honestly Yang wasn't sure how to feel about that but she wasn't going to complain. Being in charge of two pretty women was more than okay with her.

"Do you have to kick open every door you come upon!?" Weiss sternly scolded Yang.

"It's leg day soooooo, yes!" Yang smiled. "Besides my arms are full."

"At least she didn't break the door this time." Blake shook her head.

"Gotta say this dorm ain't half bad." Yang said as she dropped her bags.

"OWIE!" A loud but muffled voice cried out.

"What was that?" Weiss asked.

"I think it came from Yang's luggage." The faunus remarked.

"What makes you think it came from mine?" The blonde inquired.

"Because one of ur bags is moving." Blake pointed out.

And sure enough one of Yangs bags was moving as something seemed to be squirming around inside of it. Yang unzipped it, then opened it. Inside was a small child no more than 8 with silver eye's and black hair. She was wearing a 'Wonderful Wizard of Ozama' pajamas and was clutching a stuffed Beowolf toy. Inside the bag with her was several cartons of juice and plenty of empty snack bags. Weiss and Blake were kinda stunned to see a small child in Yangs bag. Yang on the other hand was just looking at the girl and started panicking.

"RUBY!?" Yang yelped out. "W-what are doing here!? Your supposed to be at home!"

"You know this twerp?" Weiss asked.

"Y- yea this is my sister." She lied. "And don't call her that."

"That's lying! Lying is bad!" Ruby told her. "I always get in trouble when I do it!" The small child furrowed her brows as she frowned.

"Ruby shhhh!" Yang gently and silently nudged the young girl.

"She's my mamma!" The small child said cheerfully causing Yang to deadpan with her head falling back as she sighed.

"You're..." Blake and Weiss trailed off.

"But she's like eight and your seventeen which means..." Weiss did some math in her head. "You would have had to have her when you were...OW!" Blake jabbed her in ribs upon seeing Yangs face darken.

"Its unimportant. Right Weiss?" Blake asked her. Weiss shook her head in agreement once she herself also noticed the blondes face.

"Uh, yea right." She said.

The truth was Yang had gotten pregnant when she was very young after a relative of Summer's had taken advantage of her and the family's trust. To say that everyone was angry at the man was an understatement. But he had gotten what he deserved since the man was also the reason why Yangs aura and semblance had activated. The man was dead and gone, killed by a child with a newly awakened and powerful semblance. It took a lot of therapy for Yang to deal with things and honesty she would always have some problems with it. Her dad wanted her to abort the baby but Summer and Qrow said that despite being so young it should be her choice, she was smart enough to understand and make a decision. Yang obviously decided to keep Ruby, after all it wasn't her fault. Honestly she was glad she kept her, she loved Ruby with all her heart and she brought so much joy to the world.

Pretty much everyone in the small town of patch knew what had happened to Yang. If the man wasn't already dead the towns people would have done it themselves. To people not of the town Ruby and a yang were sisters. Ruby hated lying about it, hated having to deny who her mother was. Ruby loved Yang with all her little heart and Yang loved her. She was a good mom who worked her ass off for her kid. She made sure Ruby was well educated, well fed with plenty of exercise. She also made sure the little girl wanted for nothing or as her dad called it spoiling her. Not like she was the only who spoiled her, Qrow did to and before Summer died she also spoiled her, honestly the whole town spoiled the girl. Free ice cream from the dairy shop, free cookies from the bakery and all the strawberries she could eat from the old lady that ran the fresh fruit part of the farmers market.

"She's the best mamma in like the history of ever!" Ruby said as she latched onto Yangs arm and started dangling from it.

"Ruby sweetie." Yang sat the girl down and then kneeled down to Ruby's level. "What were you doing in mommy's bag?"

"You left." Ruby furrowed her brows. "I didn't want you to go."

"Ruby we talked about this." Yang told her. "Mommy has important work she has to do."

"But you left, WITHOUT ME!" The girl emphasized the last part.

"I know but look at me." She lifted the girls head up and looked into now teary eye's. "What mommy is doing is important. I'm doing it so I can protect you."

"But that's what grandpa and flappy bird is for!" Ruby told her.

Flappy bird was her nickname for Qrow. She got the idea from that scroll game of the same name. Ruby didn't start calling him that though until after Yang and Tai had come home to find Qrow in his bird form being flung out of a sling shot. Being the little genius she was she made a big tower filled with stuffed green pigs out of fire wood along with a decent sized sling shot. Qrow not knowing exactly how he was supposed to play with her as a crow didn't realize what was happening until it was to late. He was shot out of the sling shot into the wood tower, feathers went everywhere and Yang thought her daughter might have killed her uncle. Tai however was rolling on the ground laughing at his best friends misfortune. Qrow tried to blame his semblance for this misfortune of his but they knew he was just embarrassed.

"Flappy bird?" Blake asked with a confused look.

"My uncle, it's a long story." She sighed before looking back at Ruby. "Ruby you know your my sweet little dragon but I don't want you in harms way."

"Isn't a school for superheroes safer than a house in the woods under the supervision of two adult children." Ruby said rather intelligently.

Yang opened her mouth to try and give a rebuttal but she had no response to that. Technically Ruby was right which honestly kind of irritated Yang since she's supposed be the adult here. This was something that happened rather frequently. Yang would be parenting just for Ruby to make a rather logical argument she couldn't counter. Honestly the little girl was to smart for her own good sometimes and it made Yangs job harder. A good example being when Ruby wanted some new books when they were at the store. Yang didn't think she needed them right at that moment but Ruby started arguing about childhood imagination and something about learning. To be perfectly honest at one point Yangs brain kinda just went blank, with some things going over her head. Yang had given in and bought her the books much to the child delight. Qrow just laughed at her for losing an argument to a kid, not that he was much better.

"Well now I'm sure you can't be her mother because she's obviously smarter than you." Weiss smirked while Blake was trying not to chuckle.

"Watch it Ice queen or you'll wake up to find all you're pretty princess dresses burned to a crisp." Yang glared at her.

"You wouldn't!?" Weiss exclaimed.

"Oh I would." Yang said making Weiss pale.

"YOUR A PRINCESS!" Ruby gasped looking at Weiss. "WOW! So THAT's why your so pretty!"

"Well yes, I guess I am a princess." Weiss smiled with a slight blush of embarrassment at the compliment. She wasn't really use to getting compliments because of her last name, at least unless someone wanted something that is.

"Great something else to add to your ego." Blake rolled her eye's.

"I do NOT have an ego!" Weiss retorted.

"Ruby I'm going to have to call grandpa to come get you." Yang said to Ruby as she ignored the squabbling of the other children in the room.

"NO!" Ruby yelled.

"Ru.." Yang was swiftly cut off.

"No! I'm staying her with you!" The child again yelled, which had stopped the bickering of the other two.

"Ruby you can't..." And again she was cut off.

"YOU CAN'T MAKE ME GO!" Before Yang could even react Ruby had ran passed everyone to the door. Opening it, she went to run out but was knocked down after having ran into someone.

"What on earth is with all the yelling?" A blonde woman with glasses sternly asked. First she eye'd the occupants of the dorm room and then to the child who had ran into her. "And what is a child doing here?"

"I'm not a child! I drink milk!" Ruby said before quickly running back to Yang as the older woman glared at her. "Stranger danger!" She hid behind her mother.

"Ahhh crap." Yang sighed.
