Old Summary: One day, Max went for a morning flight after having a long argument with her Voice. Going back to the cave around eight, she stumbles upon it empty. On one of the walls, is a letter saying that she is no longer a part of the flock and she must go on her own. What happens to her? Years later does she happen to stumble upon the family who abandoned her?
New Summary: Max isn't who she used to be. She has changed. Now, she is an FBI Agent that works with Erasers and Jeb all because of a little deal they made. While on an assignment, she stumbles upon the old flock who were kidnapped. How do they find her, though? In the lead with a bunch of Erasers standing behind her awaiting her command. Let's just say the flock was a little more than shocked. But the question is, what caused Max to change? Well, it all started with a little letter and a missing flock.
Now, tell me which is better. Yeah, totally the second one. Which one sounds more appealing and interesting? The second one. Now, I plan on actually finishing this version of the story compared to saying that I will continue after spring break but never do. Summer is coming quickly so I will be able to focus on this story more and hopefully, it will be better the second time around. Oh and beware, Max's new personality is different from her normal personality. Oh, and the original chapters from the original version will come in a little later in the story so sorry!

Chapter One:
Present… October 20th… One year after Max was abandoned… Alpine Glows Family Cafe… New York City, New York… Third Person POV…
Heels clicking against the concrete, Max headed towards the cafe that started her new life in the Big Apple. The cafe where the deal was made with the two people she thought she might never work with. But, she was wrong. She has changed and so has her two bosses. Again, it all started with a letter and a missing flock.
She sighed, not wanting to remember her harsh memories. She was past that now and she was surprised that she even remembered it. She hasn't thought about it since she got her job five months ago. Glancing up, she looks at the small family cafe that she has grown to love over the months and where she spends her free time sipping coffee and thinking.
Alpine Glows Family Cafe is a small quaint little cafe that is owned by the Matters. The outside is a nice deep brown with a few potted plants and some tables for those who like sitting outside. Walking inside, Max heard the little bell go off and she smiled as the similar warmth and smell of chocolate reached her. For the inside of the cafe, the Matters wanted it to have a little cottage out in the woods feel. The tables and chairs were a deep brown with ornate designs of flowers and animals, there was a small fireplace in the front corner with a couch and a few bean bags, in the far corner there was a bookshelf and a few more comfortable chairs. In the center, off to the side, was the counter where you could order or look at the different pastries on display. On the walls, there were tapestries of forests and different
nature designs and lights springing to add extra comfort to the cafe.
Max walked over to her usual place by the bookshelf. It was the farthest from human interaction and most people who come and go don't even notice the little reading corner. The only reason the bookshelf was really there was for Max. The bookshelf held a lot of meaning to Max and over the months she has been living in New York, she has really grown fond of escaping her reality and indulging in the lives of fictional characters.
As Max moved around to get more comfortable in her bean bag chair, a girl around sixteen walked up to her. The girl had shiny blonde hair with the tips dyed a light pink, bright blue eyes, a lavender sweater since it was mid-October and a little chilly in New York, ripped black jeans, and cute black boots. The girl smiled and sat next to Max.
"So, Max, are you going to the Fall Ball? Or are you going to make up the excuse that you have to go on some mission for being a secret spy. That excuse is getting old and I know for a fact that you are in sweats and eating ice cream at home." The girl said to Max sternly. Max only laughed and began looking at the many new book choices.
"Ahhh, Lindsay, what's wrong with that? I never went to any of the dances last year and I plan on continuing that tradition until I graduate. You know very well that no matter how much the past has changed me, I will not wear any dresses or skirts."
"At least I finally got you to wear heels," Max glanced down at her black heels and she sighed.
"Whatever. I will not go to this dance." Lindsay huffed and pouted. Max raised her eyebrows at her girly friend.
After Max got her job as an FBI agent, she was forced to attend school since she was technically under age for what missions she goes on. But, she is the best at what she does. Even though Max changed from sarcastic, snappy, bossy and witty to quiet, closed off, and cautious, she still has some of her old Max Spark left. She still despises dresses and skirts but she has learned to accept heels as a weapon.
When Max first arrived at her new prep school, she vowed to stay away from people because of her extra bad trust issues. But after this one girl helped her out of a tight stop, Lindsay and her became best friends. Lindsay is strong, intelligent, sarcastic, and a little intense but she is sweet and caring when it comes to her family and friends. She is a track legend, a super nerd but super girly. Her parents also own Alpine Glows Family Cafe. Lindsay also knows about everything Max has been through and she is the only one Max actually trusts.
"Fine, I'll stay home with you this time. Plus, Mike and I just broke up and I don't feel like being with someone for a while. Being single means more time at the cafe and with you. We haven't had a lot of time to just be girls, Max!"
Max rolled her eyes. "You have had plenty of time being a girl. Just because I changed doesn't mean I have become a girl. Once a tomboy always a tomboy. Now, can you get me my usual?"
Lindsay rolled her eyes but smiled and got up anyway. Ever since they became friends and Max got the job offer, the cafe has become their hang out spot. Max turned her attention back to the bookshelf. Smiling, she pulled out a book and as she was opening it, Lindsay came back with her hot chocolate and cookies.
Taking them, she said, "Thanks a million Lin," Lindsay nodded and sipped her own hot chocolate.
As Max was sipping her drink, her phone started ringing. It never ends, she thought as she read the caller ID. She hit accept and placed the phone against her ear.
(Max, Jeb)
"What is it now, Jeb?"
"We need you at HQ tomorrow evening for a quick meeting about your upcoming assignment."
"Whatever, I'll be there. What time?"
"6:30 sharp. Oh and Max?"
"What?"
"I don't think you'll like your new assignment very much,"
Before Max could reply, Jeb hung up. What was that about? she thought. Slightly puzzled, she bit into her cookies and relished in its warmth. While taking another bite, she noticed the weird feeling that settled in her stomach. This can't be good.
Present… October 21th… One year after Max was abandoned… HQ… New York City, New York… Max POV…
Ever since I got that call from Jeb, I have had a weird feeling. It felt like those times when I was dreading something bad would happen to the flock and myself while either having Erasers on our tail or when stuck in a dreaded cage. But those times are over. Now, I am working with the enemies and I still can't figure out why I agreed to take the job.
Slightly worn out, I slumped in my seat. I arrived at HQ a few minutes early and am currently waiting for the others to arrive. After a few minutes of tapping my foot against the rough carpet and lots of frustrated and impatient huffing, Jeb and my other boss arrived. Anne Walker. Que the gasps. Yes, my two bosses are Jeb and Anne. Yes, I still hate their guts but they gave me a new life. The life I needed. The one I deserved.
As they walked in, I stood up straight and nodded in acknowledgement of their presence. They nodded in my direction and we all sat down at the long conference table. We settled into a slightly uncomfortable silence that I couldn't stand.
I cleared my throat loudly to get their attention and under their intense glazes, I sat up a little straighter.
"You wanted to see me?"
Jeb nodded and Anne spoke. "Yes, Maximum. We have a new assignment for you and your new power will be very helpful. Plus, quite frankly, you are the only one who could pull this off."
I raised my eyebrow and glanced at Jeb. He shifted slightly in his seat but otherwise didn't move. I nodded in Anne's direction signaling for her to continue.
"There is a secret Itex corporation in Germany that is taking more kids by the day in Europe. There have been thousands of kids going missing by the day. The only reason this involves us is because several kids of senators of the states have been kidnapped while overseas. We want you to go undercover, gather as much information as possible, free the kids, and destroy the building. Do you think you can handle this assignment?"
I nodded. Anne smiled and both her and Jeb left the room. I sighed and slumped back in my seat.
So, how was this? Don't worry. The reason why Max isn't with the flock will come soon and it will be different from the original story. Yes, Jeb and Anne are evil but just pretend that they have changed their ways and try to help Max save the world. Max still doesn't trust them but she has accepted the fact that they are her bosses and she has to do what they say. Max has changed a lot. She isn't rebellious, as sarcastic and she follows orders. I know, it is different but it is for the story.
