The Doctor had been right. When he had first came to Los Angeles, he was looking for something. He wasn't sure what so he looked for it in women, partying, and drinking. All of it was just empty meaningless experiences with people who served solely as a means to an end. Then, he met her. She was the first one who was immune to his charms and mojo. She found him completely repulsive and that only intrigued him more. He didn't like to use the word luck or fate but no other word could describe what brought her to him.

She was what he had been looking for all along. He just didn't know it at first. It didn't help that it turned out she was made for him by his father. The news was like a punch to the gut. Chloe made him vulnerable. For the first time, he felt something real for someone. He thought what they had was real. Needless to say, the news made him pull away from her. Eventually, he realized what they had was real but they still had their problems. There were multiple celestial issues, other people, and not to mention his own brother kidnapping her. He wouldn't change any of it though.

She had changed him in so many ways. She made him want to be a better man. Before her, his idea of a good time was partying and spending every night with a different woman. Now, his nights consisted of karaoke, face painting, and Monopoly. He even willingly watched Disney films with her and the urchin. He would be damned if that get out though. Maze would never let him hear the end of it.

She showed him that he wasn't evil and what love truly was. When it was dark, she was his light. He may have created the stars but nothing could compare to the light she had brought into his life. She had changed everything and he couldn't be happier. Now he stood in the middle of a jewelry store, looking at rings.

"Any idea what cut or style the lady would prefer?" the jeweler asked.

"Something simple but elegant, like her," Lucifer replied.

"Perhaps this would suffice?" the jeweler asked, holding out a ring.

The ring in question was a gold band with a round diamond in a solitaire setting. It was simple yet stunning. It was definitely something that was fitting of his Detective.

"That would be perfect. Thank you."

"Now, would you like to have it engraved? If so, you can pick it up in a matter of hours."

"Yes I would actually. I have just the thing in mind," Lucifer replied, smiling slightly.

A few hours later, Lucifer headed to the Detective's home with the ring safely in his suit pocket. There was only one thing left to do which was get the urchin's permission. He would ask her father but he could only imagine what would happen if he tried to enter Heaven again. One fall to Earth was enough thank you very much.

"Hello darling," Lucifer greeted upon letting himself in.

He walked over to where she was in the middle of preparing dinner in the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around her waist before pressing a kiss to her cheek. She put down the knife in her hands before turning to face him.

"Hello babe," she replied before pressing a kiss to his lips.

"Mmmmm, so what are we having?"

"Just some chicken and vegetables. So, how was your business that you had to take care of?"

He had told the Detective that he had business to take care of along with some errands. This wasn't a lie as he did have some things to take care of at Lux. He just hadn't mentioned the ring currently in his pocket. This way he was able to get it done without raising suspicions. She was a detective after all.

"Quite well actually. So, where's the urchin? I want to talk to her," Lucifer said.

"You want to talk to Trixie?" Chloe asked.

"Can't a Devil talk to his favorite urchin? I have something I wish to ask her."

"Oh okay, she's in her room."

With that, Lucifer walked over to the urchin's room. He couldn't help but smile at the sign on the door. It was the same sign from five years ago that read no boys allowed except Dad and Lucifer. Some things may change but the urchin never did. He took some comfort in that. He knocked twice before the urchin said he could come in.

He entered and made sure to shut the door as to make sure the Detective wouldn't hear them.

"Urchin? May I talk to you about something of great importance?" Lucifer posed.

"Of course you can Lucifer. I'm thirteen now. I can handle adult stuff," Trixie replied.

"Well, you know your mother and I have been together for awhile now. She has made me very happy and I wish to do the same for her forever. You clearly mean a lot to her so I was wondering if I could have your blessing to ask her to marry me."

"Oh my god yes!" Trixie shrieked before pulling Lucifer into a hug.

"Thank you urchin, even though I'm quite sure my father had nothing to do with it," Lucifer replied as he hugged her back.

"When are you going to do it? Where are you going to do it? Do you have a ring?"

"You small urchins are certainly filled with questions. I'm going to recreate our first date at the penthouse. Then, we'll take a walk on the beach and I'll propose. Yes, I have a ring. I just picked it up today."

"So, does that mean that you're going to be my Step-Devil?" Trixie questioned.

"Why, I suppose it does mean that. It has a nice ring to it. Now you must keep this a secret so that it doesn't spoil the surprise for your mother. Promise?"

"I promise," Trixie replied, holding out her pinky.

Lucifer gave in and held his out too. The little urchin was very big on pinky promises. She considered them sacred in a way. The only thing left to do now was to propose and hope she said yes.
