OPENING SEQUENCE
Wiz: The reptile. A cold-blooded creature and an apex predator. Whether as prehistoric dinosaurs or powerful crocodiles, they are masters of hunting and killing their prey.
Boomstick: And fighting game fans, you're in for a treat! Two of these legendary lizards are ready to fight to the death in a survival of the fittest!
Wiz: Reptile, Mortal Kombat's Zaterran Warrior.
Boomstick: And Riptor, Killer Instinct's cyborg lizard and Ultratech's parody of Jurassic Park. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
FIGHTER 1: REPTILE
(Mortal Kombat - Techno Syndrome)
W: There are many realms beyond our own. Earthrealm, home to the planet we call home. The Netherrealm, a fiery hellscape where damned souls are condemned to. And Outworld, a vast empire that conquers many realms and merges with them. These realms range from the peaceful Edenia… to the wild realm of Zaterra, home to a race of sentient reptilian humanoids called Saurians, also known as Raptors or Zaterrans.
B: All was well in Zaterra until the hammer-swinging Shao Kahn crashed their party and took over. His takeover nearly brought the Saurians to extinction, but one of them decided the best course of action was to join the konqueror.
W: This Saurian's name was Syzoth, better known as Reptile.
(Reptile uncloaks and hisses at his opponent.)
W: Reptile is a loyal servant to Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn in the new timeline, fighting as a representative of Outworld in the cross-realm tournament known as-
B: MORTAL KOMBAAAAAT!
W: Hey! Anyway, when he first appeared in the tournament, he took on a human disguise. Reptile uses various fighting style techniques such as Pao Chui, Hung Gar- a form of Chinese kung fu based on animal movements-, and Crab. He is not just a skilled kombatant, but also a master of stealth.
B: Reptile's, uh, reptilian anatomy gives him powers and abilities no other kombatant can match. He can turn himself and others close to him invisible, spit acid that can melt flesh and steel, slide across the ground in a trail of slime, steal moves from other fighters, fill the air around him with poisonous gas, and conjure green balls of acid. Aside from these powers, he fights with his claws, teeth, and extra-long tongue. Yeesh, I don't wanna be licked by that.
W: Especially when that tongue is so strong, it can rip a person's head off their body.
B: Case in point.
W: Reptile also carries a weapon called a Kirehashi, an ancient blade with connections to the Saurian race gifted to him by the vampire Nitara. The sword looks similar to a Chinese broadsword, or Dao, which works well with Reptile's open-handed kombat style.
B: But Reptile's greatest weapon is his survival instincts. He can move so fast he can dodge point-blank gunfire, track his opponents with infrared sight, sniff out potential targets, and he is so strong, he can break through titanium and rip off the top half of someone's body. But what's really crazy is that he can turn into a monkey and chase away an opponent. WHAT the hell?! Can't he turn into a crocodile or something?
W: Uh, moving on. While Reptile is formidable, he does have his downsides in a fight, specifically his invisibility. Environmental elements such as mud can give away his position if he is cloaked, and sneak attacks can be thwarted if a telepath- like Takeda Takahashi- can sense his location. All in all, Reptile can be pretty down on his luck.
B: Yeah, no kidding! Even though he had no intention of competing in Mortal Kombat, he dreamed of winning and finding a way to bring his people back from extinction. But after he lost against Johnny Cage, he just kept on losing over and over! And that's not the worst that happened to him: Reptile was imprisoned in the Netherrealm for genocide, became the vessel the Dragon King Onaga needed to resurrect himself, and Shao Kahn tried to have him killed after too many failures! Damn, this little lizard can't catch a break.
W: But despite his numerous setbacks and failures, there is one thing Reptile strives for above all else: the return of the Saurian race.
Reptile: I see you…
FIGHTER 2: RIPTOR
(Riptor's Theme - Killer Instinct)
W: As the result of Project Stalker, Riptor was genetically engineered by the powerful megacorporation Ultratech to be the perfect combination of human intelligence and animal brutality.
B: Her tools of death are her teeth, claws, and impaling tail and she knows how to use them well, pulling off insanely bloody combos. And when she's not fighting up close, she can spit a fiery acid!
W: Riptor's only 4 years old and yet, already, she's a nearly unstoppable killing machine.
B: That's one ass-kicking toddler!
W: She has reached a point where her human emotion and reasoning conflict with her predatory instincts, often confusing her to the blind point of rage and aggression.
B: Riptor may look, sound, and act like a Velociraptor, but she's really something else entirely. She's twice as big and twice as slow and I don't think Velociraptors could shoot acid. They were awesome enough without it! With a limited amount of combat training, Riptor relies on her Raptor instincts in a fight. Raptors were pack hunters, preferring to plague their victims with stealth, speed, and secrecy, though they were no pushovers by themselves. On their own, they usually just rush their opponent and overpower them with ultra combos, and if "Jurassic Park" has taught us anything, it's that Raptors are clever sons of bitches!
W: I didn't know you knew so much about dinosaurs.
B: Yeah, I always wanted a pet Raptor. I was gonna call him Barney after I found out what irony was.
Killer Instinct announcer: Supreme Victory!
Riptor feasts on the remains of her prey.
PRELUDE TO BATTLE
W: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!
B: It's time for a dino-mighty DEATH BATTLLEEEEE!
THE FIGHT
(Reptilian Instincts- Brandon Yates)
The scene opens in a lush jungle with trees and a river. The sounds of birdsong and monkey screeching are replaced with a reptilian snarling. Small animals scatter as a large figure runs through the jungle and jumps on top of a fallen log. Riptor growls and sniffs the air, hopping down near a three-toed footprint. After investigating it, she growls and sprints further into the jungle.
Near the river, Riptor stops as her trail runs cold. There are no more footprints… but something green drops past her face and sizzles on the ground by her feet. Riptor sniffs the liquid, then looks up at the trees… and sees nothing there.
Reptile: You…
Riptor instantly goes on high alert, searching for the voice.
Reptile: You dare trespass on my territory? (Sniffing sounds are heard.) That scent… you are different. You are altered. You reek of augmentation… you smell of... Earthrealm! (Reptile lands in front of Riptor and uncloaks himself, throwing his mask aside.) The Earthrealmers will pay for what they have done to you, for the abomination they have created!
Riptor screeches, identifying the target Ultratech had programmed her to find, and Reptile snarls back.
DB Announcer: FIGHT!
The two reptilian lifeforms spring at each other and meet in a flurry of gnashing jaws and swiping claws. Riptor pins Reptile underneath her and bites down on his shoulder, drawing green blood. With a pained hiss, Reptile kicks Riptor back and flips back to his feet. He summons a ball of acid and sends it to Riptor.
Riptor jumps over the ball and sprays fire at Reptile. Reptile hops away and uses the opportunity to cloak himself. When the flames fade, Riptor makes a noise of confusion when she sees Reptile nowhere in sight. She looks around on high alert… and something rakes across her face, making her bleed.
Riptor bites down on nothing but air. Another slash mark appears on her leg, earning a screech of pain. Riptor spins around coats the whole area around her in fire, managing to burn Reptile and force him to decloak. He hisses and pukes acid at the raptor, who ducks low. The acid hits a tree and dissolves the bark. Reptile jumps at Riptor and engages her claw-to-claw. He swipes at her head with his hands and tries to land a jumping kick. Riptor draws back and rams her head into Reptile, striking at him with her clawed feet and tail. He tries to block, but Riptor bites down so hard, she cracks an arm bone in an X-Ray move and tries to rip it off.
Reptile pushes Riptor away with a punch to the face and a double palm strike. He follows up with his slide attack, knocking Riptor into the air. He dropkicks her to the ground. While she scrambles back to her feet, Reptile walks up to her and draws his Kirehashi blade from behind his back. He snarls at Riptor and breaks into a run.
He dodges the raptor's bites and slices his blade at her. Riptor lands a hit with her claw, but her other strike meets the steel of the blade. Reptile swings it again, but Riptor catches the Kirehashi in her jaws and wrenches it out of Reptile's grip. The weapon flies away and sticks itself into the ground.
Riptor, screeching, tackles Reptile into the river and tries to snap at his face. While she succeeds in biting his arm, Reptile jabs her in the face with his claw, nearly gouging out an eye, and sprays another batch of acid at her. While the raptor is stunned, he cloaks and proceeds to barrage Riptor with unseen strikes. Not being able to see her opponent, Riptor roars in rage.
Eventually, she spots mud gathering on something standing out of the water. Hissing, Riptor lashes out with her tail and sweeps the invisible Reptile's legs. To follow up, she uses her tail to stab Reptile in the chest, breaking some of his ribs. Seizing Reptile by the neck, she thrashes him around and throws him back onto land. Reptile hisses and tries to stand, coughing up green blood while Riptor runs ashore and roars at him.
Reptile: You may have the instincts of a killer… (he briefly snarls at Riptor and fills the air with noxious gas that stun her) But I have taken part in Mortal Kombat!
Reptile ensnares Riptor's leg with his tongue and trips her up. He pounces on her with a snarl, clawing at her wildly. Screeching, Riptor swipes at Reptile's face and blasts fire at him. She scrambles to her feet, but Reptile strongly kicks her in the chest.
Riptor skids back, her claws digging into the dirt. Reptile runs up to her at a fast pace, landing lethal blows with his fists and claws, one hard punch cracking the raptor's skull. An uppercut knocks her into the air, and he follows up by spraying more acid at her.
Riptor falls to the ground, her body smoking from the acid. She has trouble standing with the acid eating away at her flesh. Red blood pours out onto the ground… and Reptile notices two words forming on the ground beneath them. The message from the weakened Riptor's blood reads "FINISH HER". Reptile looks back to Riptor… and snarls.
Reptile grabs Riptor's head, wrenches it back, and pries open her jaws. The raptor desperately tries to blast him again with fire, but Reptile pukes acid right down her throat. Now seizing her by the neck, Reptile takes a moment to watch Riptor thrash around and choke on the acid. Then, Reptile plunges a hand into the dinosaur's chest and hears a brief, strangled screech of agony.
With a snarl of triumph, Reptile tears out Riptor's stomach, dripping green from his acid. The dinosaur goes limp in his hand, causing Reptile to throw Riptor's lifeless body to the ground. He stares at the stomach and his bloodstained hand, hissing.
Reptile: Is this the best Earthrealm has to offer? No augmentations will be enough to best pure, natural instinct in kombat!
THE AFTERMATH
DB Announcer: K.O.!
B: Reptile wins! FATALITY!
W: In terms of ferocity, this fight was pretty close. Ultratech had designed Riptor to be a ruthless killing machine, but the dinosaur's nature had one major flaw.
B: Raptors are pack hunters! And without other Riptors around to help her out, this clever girl was pretty much done for without coordination from her fellow lab experiments!
W: Plus, Reptile was quicker and stronger than Riptor. He dodged a point-blank gunshot from Sonya Blade and could break titanium with ease. But while he couldn't beat everyone he fought in both Outworld and Earthrealm, he was a deadly and ferocious predator to come face-to-face, relying on sneak attacks to soften up his opponents before outright confronting them.
B: Looks like Riptor wasn't properly evolved for this fight, and her instinct led to extinction.
W: The winner is Reptile.
(Reptile snarls at the camera after defeating his opponent.)
