Disclaimer: I don't own South Park.
"Wow! Just look at the moon! Neato, ain't it?!"
Butters was perched on a bench at the top of a hill which overlooked South Park. He was pointing up at the moon, who was shimmering in the starlit sky high up over the mountain town where crazy happenings always went on. It was an incredible view - and the cheerful child was pleased to share it with the one person in the entirely of this crazed civilization who treated him nicely.
"I'm glad you're here with me, buddy!"
Sitting next to Butters on the bench was the New Kid in South Park. He had willingly accompanied the sweet-natured child that evening to hang out with him. He had not said a word to him all night, staying as silent as ever as he always did.
And yet, Butters could not think of a better person to be with.
"I never thought I'd meet someone like you," he confessed. "All my life, the other kids in South Park have treated me rotten. They pretend to be my friend, but really, all they wanna do is take advantage of me.
The New Kid listened wordlessly. Although he was not saying anything, he was taking in all Butters had to say.
"It's true. They want me to help them in their schemes, take credit for things I've done, frame me for wrong things they've done - or just make fun of me for their own amusement!"
Butter's look away so that the New Kid wouldn't see the tears building up in his eyes. He wiped them away with one hand, placing the other against his heart. All that the other children in South Park mercilessly put him through for their own gain or entertainment was really hurting him.
"I never thought I'd make any real friends. The kids around here let me believe they're my friends - but they just wanna use me and humiliate me... Especially Eric Cartman!"
The New Kid clenched his hand into a fist at the name Butters brought up. In the short time he had been living in South Park, he deeply despised Eric Cartman. He hadn't known the fat boy for as long as others had - and yet, he could tell from what he had seen that Cartman was a really nasty character.
Once sure his tears were gone, Butters turned back to the New Kid. His eyes shimmered in the moonlight as he smiled at the other child.
"But then you came along, New Kid. You've never been mean to me or done anything to make fun of me. You've never even said a bad word to me..." The blond paused. "Well, you've never actually said a single word to me - but that doesn't take away how kind you've been to me."
A sincere warm expression was on Butters' face. He directed at the New Kid, who just gazed back at him in his usual blank, emotionless expression.
"I'm so grateful to you coming to my life. You're the nicest guy I've ever met. Even nicer to me than my own parents. No one has ever been good to me like you have. As long as you stick around, then my life here sure as heck is swell!"
Butters put an arm around the other child's shoulders. He smiled at him in all his gratitude towards him. In the short length of time they had become acquainted, the New Kid had treated him far more kindly and graciously than any of the other kids or even the adults in South Park.
"You're my best friend!" Butters told him. "My best friend ever, New Kid!"
That was the New Kid smiled. He was pleased his arrival had made a positive difference to someone's life. He had proven himself well talented at easily making friends - yet no matter how many friends he managed to gain here he was determined to be always there first and foremost to Leopold 'Butters' Stotch.
The end.
