Catching her breath, she looked into his cobalt blue eyes drowning in his warmth and love once again.
"I love you Noctis Lucis Caelum," Boa whispered.
They stayed like that for a while, enjoying each other's warmth. Boa planted a kiss on his neck and noticed something strange about her husband. Usually he would have returned her kiss but his mind was elsewhere, his eyes still on the ceiling. Concerned about her husband's well being, she asked him.
"Something wrong, my love? What is it that concerns you?"
She knew he had heard her yet he didn't. One thing she knew about her husband was that unlike any man she had met before, her husband truly cared about her, not because of her looks or her body, but because he loved her for herself. She always saw this quality of his whenever she talked to him about something, he wouldn't interrupt her but listened to whatever she had to say.
And his eyes, they were unlike any man's. Most men always let their eyes wander, focusing on her boobs and her body but her husband was the only exception. Whenever he conversed with any woman, be it her or anyone else, his eyes would not stray and instead would maintain eye contact. When they talked, he'd only focus on her. She knew a pervert when she saw one but her husband was none of that. He would only look at her with utmost concern and love.
But this, she had seen him this before. Her husband was sometimes lost in his own thoughts but whenever she asked him, he would just smile and say it was nothing. She knew it was a lie but she knew deep down, her husband only said those things not to make her worry.
She patiently waited for her husband and after a while, he let out a loud sigh before he looked at her, a sad smile displayed on his face.
"I'm so sorry, my dear, but I need to leave you."
Upon hearing his words, Boa was completely shocked and numb to the core as fear gripped her heart. Her eyes welled up and the tears slowly fell. She couldn't believe the words her husband had just spoke. They felt sharp needles stabbing her heart. He wanted to leave her? Was he bored with her? Did she not satisfy him anymore? Or did he met someone better? All these painful questions kept filling her head and she desperately wanted to know the answers. As her tears streaked down her face, warm big hand held her face in their palms and wiped the tears with their thumbs. Before she could even voice her concern, he interrupted her.
"What's wrong, my love? Why are you crying?" Noctis asked, trying his best to comfort her.
But instead of being comforted, her crying got louder and worse as she buried her face against his chest. Boa still couldn't believe that Noctis could say such heartless things. Why wouldn't she cry. She had, after all, given her heart, body and soul to him. But for him to say such cruel things so easily, it was unbelievable. How could he?
It took him a while until he realised what made her cry. There was clearly a misunderstanding going on. Boa had taken his words out of context and he knew he was at fault for not being clear in the first place. He cursed himself for being such an idiot. He could imagine how's words could have easily come across as cold and heartless. Seeing how heartbroken his wife looked at the idea of him leaving clearly told him how she couldn't stand living without him. And he couldn't help but fall deeper in love with this woman. When he unintentionally let out a chuckle, it was immediately noticed by Boa, who shot him a nasty glare in between sobs.
"W-what so f-funny?" Boa asked weakly, her face still buried on his chest.
"Don't worry, my love. That is not what I meant when I said I'm leaving you. I love you and always will. I never intend to hurt you and for that, I'm really sorry."
At his words, Boa slowly raised her head to see if he was telling the truth and just from looking into his beautiful blue eyes, she knew he wasn't lying. But the question still remained, what did he mean by needing to leave her. Before she could ask, her plump lips where quickly captured by her husband in a deep and tender kiss. Despite being so upset, she couldn't help but return the kiss. Feeling his emotions being poured into her kiss made her forgive him easily. She was so weak in her husband's arms. For a few minutes, they enjoyed their passionate kiss until Noctis broke the kiss first, much to her disappointment. She wanted to savour their kiss more.
"I hope that was enough to forgive me, my love." She looked at him, a cute pout on her lips, as he apologised to her.
"You still didn't tell me why you wanted to leave."
"Ah yes, about that. I haven't told you this before because I didn't want to make you worried but I had a dream."
"Dream?"
"Yes, a dream. At first, I thought it was nothing until this dream became so clear to me. The dream was calling out to me, telling me to go back to the sea. I don't know why but I strongly feel that this dream might lead me to my memories."
"Are you sure it's not just a simple dream and nothing else?"
"Yeah, I thought that might be the case at first but I'd been having the same dream for a week now and it's always the same. A calling for me to go back to the sea."
"Then let me come with you, please. We can recover your memory together."
"Sorry, my love, I can't."
"But…I don't understand…why not?"
"Firstly, I don't remember who I am or where I came from. For all I know, I could be a fugitive running from the Marine. From what I heard, the way you had found me, in the middle of the sea, almost lifeless, there could be a strong possibility that this could be true."
"But I don't care. Let it be. I don't care if the Marine or Yonko are after your head. I don't care. I want to be with you."
"But I care. Remember Boa, you are still one of the Shichibukai and if the Marine really had something to do with this, can you imagine what they would do to you or the girls in Amazon Lily? I don't want to lose you. So I really think it might be better if I went alone. I really need to know who I am."
At his words, she couldn't contain her tears any longer and wept as she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and buried her face on his chest. Instinctively, he raised his arms to embrace her. He had to do this. He knew this was going to be extremely difficult for Boa but he was doing this for her.
If Marine really had something to do with this then the best way to protect his wife was to keep his distance from her.
