AN: I have vague notes in my head about where this story is going. So have fun discovering it along with me. As it stands, the setting is based kinda around Ireland and Scotland—but fantasy.
So I will be doing whatever I want with everything. Like, slightly modern plumbing though this isn't modern times. I don't need to deal with cholera in this fic.
Updates will happen when I have the time to write them, enjoy~.
Dew settled over the tall blades of grass that cut into the sky. Dawn spread her rosy fingers up past the clouds, ready to bring light and life to the world, and Sakura loved watching every moment of it. Seated in her rocking chair on the porch of her little cottage was a treat. The steam from her mug of tea swirled in with the clouds that peppered the sky, now a light pink with breaks of purple and blue.
Fain was a delightful countryside village on the large island in the Northern sea. The cliffs were not but a few miles from where she sat, and the crashing of waves was a welcome sound with the twittering of birds. Overall, she was happy with her move away from the city.
Her mentor, a well-known apothecary, was sad to see her go. But Sakura was ready for her roots to dig deep into soil of her own.
The cottage she resided in was a steal. She couldn't imagine why everyone was so against her living in it. The two stories were practical, it had a bathroom that's pipes led to a small waste pond not too far away from the house. If she was careful, she could use some of it for gardening. The kitchenette was quant, a bit on the small side, but still large enough for her to do what she needed to do. There were a handful of boxes that still needed unpacking, it was work she was more than happy to do.
Later this morning once the crows flew overhead, she would walk to the village, not but a few miles away, and flip the sign in her shop from Closed to Open for the first time—and that was a wonderful feeling. The previous caretaker, retired—not dead thankfully—had a list of patients lined up for her to be visiting with through the afternoon.
She drank her tea, now cooled, in one swig. It warmed her throat as it flooded her belly. The notes of orange strong against her tongue with lavender.
She stood and entered the house, heading right for the counter. Depositing her mug into the sink, she grabbed a bundle of drying herbs and flowers that she had brought from the city. She would use up what she had, but Sakura was more than excited to see how the efficacy of the plants would change with country air and soil.
"Now, let's grind you up and get you into the hands of people in need." Sakura began to hum to herself. Picking up her mortar and pestle she ground the leaves and flowers together, the floral notes filling the room that was heated by a fireplace that crackled in the corner of the small living room. Which housed a settee large enough for two, and another single chair that stood opposite the couch, a table dividing them, lined with velvet and silver pins. It had been a gift, one she wanted to return as she soon realized the value of such a piece of furniture.
Herbs ground, a light breakfast consumed, Sakura draped a cloak around her shoulders and leather shoes upon her feet.
"Alright. Day one begins now. Nothing can drag me down."
