She found her asleep once she came into her and her roommate's dorm early one night.
Galinda had just went out shopping with her friends and had came back to find her green-skinned roommate Elphaba sound asleep on her own bed with books open around her laying scattered on the bed. The lights in the room were still on.
The blonde glanced at the position her roommate is in. The green girl was all curled up in a ball sideways in a fetal position on the wrong side of the bed still in her uniform. Her head was laying next to one of the open books she was reading.
Galinda couldn't help but get a closer look after closing the door softly and putting her shopping bags down next to her bed. She sees that Elphaba was still wearing her glasses which were askew, strands of her raven black hair falling in front of her face. Her green lips have parted halfway snoring softly.
Though they loathed each other since the beginning, she couldn't help but feel a little bad. The least Galinda can do is make the green girl more comfortable. She debated for a few minutes if she should. She didn't want to risk waking her up that can escalade into an argument.
Should I help her? She thought.
Thinking it over, she quietly pulled out her nightgown from her drawer and went to go to the bathroom for a quick shower.
About 30 minutes later, Galinda in her nightgown came out of the bathroom clean and dry to find the green girl still slumbering. She never even moved from that exact spot when Galinda left.
Poor thing... She must've been exhausted… Galinda thought.
She then decided to make her more comfortable. The way she's laying in her day clothes looks very uncomfortable and doesn't has a pillow. She might as well wake up with a stiff neck!
Galinda started by collecting her roommate's books, closing them and placing them on her desk. Not wanting her to start a fit about being out of place in the books, she carefully bookmarked them beforehand.
Slowly she pulled the same book which was a few inches away from Elphaba. She bookmarks it and puts it down on her desk.
Then she walks over to take one of Elphaba's pillows when she spotted something glistening underneath one of them. Very curious to know what it is, she pulls it out which reveals a little green bottle.
Carefully she looks at it. She looks at the label which says, "M-c-e l-x-e-r."
The letters on the label were fading away so she couldn't make out the words.
A lot of questions went into the blonde girl's head.
What is this bottle? Why is it under Elphaba's pillow? Does she sleep with it every night? And most importantly, why is the green liquid inside it?
Well whatever this is, she suspects a little bit that it might have something to do with Elphaba's green skin.
She snapped out of her thoughts forgetting where she was and what she was doing. She realized that this isn't her place to know why she keeps the little bottle but it looks to be like it somehow comforts her.
She remembered the other night when they both went to bed and before Galinda went to sleep, she sees her roommate pulling something out from under her pillow and hugs it.
Thinking it over about putting it back under her pillow, putting it in a safe place or pranking her by hiding it (which she probably won't do) she puts it on her nightstand for a moment, takes the pillow from before and gently puts it under Elphaba's head. The green girl stirred a little but slept on.
She strokes the long raven black hair out of the green girl's sleeping face and carefully takes the glasses off of her nose. The blonde folded them nicely and put it down on her nightstand and picks up the little green bottle and gently places it on Elphaba's green palm which was laying outstretched and facing up.
Somehow, in sleep, Elphaba's green fingers unconsciously tightened around the bottle and slowly pulled it close to her heart like it's her stuffed animal or security blanket. She sighs contently in her sleep and a small smile appears on the green lips.
The blonde smiled a little bit as well. She couldn't help herself but she takes one of her blankets from the closet and gently placed it over the girl tucking it over her shoulders.
Galinda went and turned off all the lights in the room and tip toed gently to the other side of the room to her bed and crawled under the covers.
Before laying down, she took one last look at Elphaba. She is starting to warm up to the green girl after that experience despite loathing her.
Maybe someday things will turn around and she could find out why the little green bottle is important to her. Not tonight. Not tomorrow. But someday she'll find out the reason.
That girl is a complete mystery, she thought as she drifts off to sleep.
