Ichika's POV
The sun poured through my window as I slowly open my eyelids. Another day had dawned, bringing with it new hopes and aspirations. Today was my first day in Karasuno High in the Miyagi Prefecture and I was looking forward to it.
Pulling the covers away, I scrambled out of bed, brushed my teeth and washed my face. I put on my new school uniform and stared at the mirror for a couple of minutes until I had finished tying my dark brown hair into a near ponytail. I sling my bag over my shoulder, took in a deep breath and closed my eyes. Opening them up again, I blinked my light purple eyes and smiled and made my way to Karasuno High.
It was early March. Pink cherry blossoms surrounded the school walls. Bird's chirps filled the air as I turned my attention to the Karasuno's school name plate. I remembered that my father once told me that Karasuno was a strong powerhouse for volleyball. But now, they were known as 'The Flightless Crows' or 'The Fallen Champions'.
Up to this day, I still wondered why they wouldn't cancel the club, since nothing was getting better, I really don't see the point.
A gust of wind almost knock me off my feet. I snuggled my face deeper into my cream-coloured scarf and put both hands into my pockets. I hurried into my new school. Everything looks so unfamiliar, the only thing I can depend on are the signs hanging on the ceiling.
"Finally!" I breathed as I found the Principal's office. I sighed in relief and knocked on the door gently. "Come in," came a voice on the opposite side. I gently pushed the door open and immediately received a thin stack of papers from the Principal. He then started mumbling, "Okay, these are your... er... things that you would need for the rest of your week. Yeah, you'll be fine." I scoffed in disbelief and stalked out of the office.
Wow. How tactful.
I flipped through some of the papers and managed to find my class which is Class 2-4. I shrugged and took off my scarf and made my way to class.
As I entered, I felt all eyes staring at me. Embarrassed, I took a empty seat at the back of the class while some boys whistled as I walked past them. I glared at them from the corner of my eye. I hated getting all the attention, even if it's good. And I almost died when the teacher asked me to introduce myself.
During recess, I flipped through the stack of papers and found something that caught my attention. It was a club activity for photography! Immediately I signed my name on the piece of paper and slipped it into the club activity box.
Nishinoya's POV
It has been several weeks after Asahi and I returned to the volleyball club. Personally, I felt like a whole new age had entered. The two first-years Hinata and Kageyama were amazing. Especially Hinata. I'm officially his senpai, cause that's what he calls me.
It has also been a week after "The Trash Can Battle". And one of the member from Nekoma, which was the setter, had a girlfriend!
Wow. I'm jealous.
I rubbed the part of my cheek that has been slapped by Kiyoko after several weeks. It was magnificent. I began daydreaming and didn't realised that someone had walked in.
"Ooo!!! Who's that pretty girl?!" I heard Tanaka's voice ringing through the thudding of volleyball balls.
Pretty girl?
I quickly snapped out of my daydream and saw a smart looking girl standing at the gym's entrance just about my height, plus my hair. But I made sure no one else knows about it. Except for Tanaka, Asahi and Hinata.
She seemed disturbed by Tanaka's remark. Just then, Hinata spiked a ball that flew out of bounds, heading for the girl.
The girl, who barely had time to react, gasped in horror as the ball was preparing to smash into her face. On instinct, my legs sprang forward with such speed I almost couldn't control myself. Skidding to a halt just in front of the girl, I received the ball with ease.
Smirking to myself as the ball landed back into court, everyone froze with shock. Though I wasn't sure if it was from my reliable saving, or the fact that Hinata's spike nearly hit the girl.
"Boke! Hinata boke!" Kageyama broke the silence, causing Hinata to edge away from the setter. "It-it was an accident!" Hinata protested. The two began tussling together and Daichi and Suga had to go break them up.
With all the chaos happening, I turned to the girl. "Sorry, we're still working on those spikes," I chuckled while scratching the back of my head.
"Oh it ok, it's no problem at all," she smiled. "Thanks for the save though." I started blushing and turned my head away from her while studying her form the corner of my eye.
Her dark brown hair was tied into two neat ponytails, both hanging loosely from her shoulders. She had light purple eyes that sparkled like stars and light rosy cheeks. I noticed that she had a camera slung across her shoulder.
Just then, Daichi pushed in. The quarrel between Kageyama and Hinata had died down, with Suga still trying to console the two first-years.
"Ah, you must be Ichika,"
Wait. Daichi know this cute girl? A surprising prickle of jealously flowed through me as I tried to suppressed it down.
"You're here for the photo taking, right?" Daichi asked with a grin. The girl whose name was Ichika nodded politely. Photo taking? What was Daichi talking about?
"I'm Daichi and he's Nishinoya," Daichi introduced. Ichika smiled in acknowledgement and waved towards me.
Then, Daichi clapped his hands twice to get everyone's attention. Everyone immediately huddled close to hear what Daichi have to say.
"The audio visual club had requested us for their members to take some photos of us playing volleyball and in the competitions to come. They had sent Ichika, a second year who is new to the school to snap some photos for the yearbook and also for some school memorial videos," Daichi announced. "And please don't disturb her." Daichi ended off with an icy stare at both Tanaka and me.
"Ohh!!!! Please make sure to take photos of me spiking, Ichika-senpai!" Hinata squealed in excitement and hopped in front of Ichika, getting all hyped up as usual. Kageyama rolled his eyes and Tukishima smirked.
Ichika looked at Hinata in surprise, then broke into a cute giggle. "Of course."
I admired her from a distance. Everything about her seemed perfect. Just then, Asahi spoke up, "Don't mind me asking, but why are they only doing this now? I never remembered them doing this when we were first or second years."
Ichika looked up, looking embarrassed. She shuffled her feet closer and played with the camera strap with her fingers. She avoided everyone's intense and questioning stare. Though Asahi's question is worth answering.
Ichika then started mumbling, "Well... um, you see, the leader of the audio visual club knows that the Karasuno volleyball team is getting stronger..." Hearing what she just said made my blood boil. Without realising, my fists clenched up and my face turned into a scowl.
"I mean you guys were quite a formable opponent to Nekoma, so-" I didn't let her finished her sentence.
"So you're only doing this now because you guys think we're strong, don't you?" I snapped. "But where were you guys when we were at our toughest moments?" The whole team looked at me in shock at my rude remark and the harshness my voice carried.
I heard Daichi called my name harshly, but I ignored it.
Ichika stared at me in a mixture of fear and shock. But there was something deep in her eyes that I could not comprehend, something sad. As if she was hurt. But anger got a better hold of me and I ignored the guilt tugging at my belly.
"It's not my choice. I do what my leader tells me, like how you all do what you have been told by your captain." Ichika reasoned, with a hint of irritation in her voice.
"Obviously, you guys think we are failures at that time," I retorted. Furious, I stomped out of the gym and punched the wall.
Author's note:
Hey guys! I actually wrote this FANFICTION a long time ago and I decided to post it! You know, since I have exams and all and I can't update the Worlds Collide book yet. So in the meantime, this FANFICTION is kind of a replacement thing but I'll not be posting it all at once though. Hope you enjoy!
