Ok, I had this crazy idea and went full support. Its Food Wars and Hunter x Hunter mashing together. Like instead of being a world-famous Hunter, Gin is a famous world chef. I mean more famous than Joima, because he doesn't go around to stop at his family dinner. But the same thing as usual Hunter x Hunter. This will be so much fun to write, lets dig in and enjoy your meal.
Also, no this won't be a yaoi.
It was a full day at the Blue Whale Family dinner. A small restaurant that is very popular among middle class family and people of small salary. They can buy a pretty good plate of food for a good price and leave with full stomachs.
The main chef of the establishment is a woman by the name of Mito Freesc. She is a fiery woman in the kitchen. Her grandmother was the one that created the dinner decades ago and while she was old enough to cook, she was like one of the waiters.
''Mito, we need another round of fried rice.'' Said her.
''Coming.'' Said Mito preparing the rice in a good peace.
This was the usual around the restaurant. Mostly kids and regular people come around to have a bite of Mito food. But it wasn't just her that called the attention of the customers.
''Darling, can you deliver these bowls to table 6?" Asked Mito to her nephew Gon.
''Coming!'' Scream Gon delivering the bowls.
Soon the customers went to praises.
''Hey Mito, this is amazing.'' Said one man.
''Oh its nothing.'' Said Mito with a smile.
''Man, this amazing.'' Said a woman.
''Her fried rice is always the best.'' Said another woman.
''oh no, her Tempura is to die for.'' Said another woman.
While some people were looking at the menu, a local regular looked and saw that today special was the giant blue fish.
''Oh my, this is looking good. Hey Mito, give me the special? How are you going to do it?" Asked the man.
The woman soon stopped cooking and looked at the customer a little doubtful and scared.
''Actually…Gon is making the special today.'' Said Mito much to everyone surprise.
''Yes! It's my turn.'' Said Gon all excited.
''Can he handle? I mean the special are a big deal, plus is a good quality fish.'' Said the man.
''I feel that is time for him to handle a challenge.'' Said Mito a little afraid.
''Ok sir, would you like to try out an idea that I had?" Asked Gon to the man.
''Sure kid, why not? You only live once.'' Said him.
Soon went full speed in the kitchen and started to cook as fast as he could. Everyone was impressed by this and the food was already starting to smell.
''This smell good.'' Said a woman.
''We are sure that the kid can do it!'' Scream a man in the back.
''Ok Gon, just take it easy.'' Thought Mito worried.
''I want this dish to turn out to be the best.'' Thought him.
Gon prepared the fish with a little bit of lemon, peas and some cream. He was going to make a creamy fish with vegetables. This would blow the peoples mind and Mito would do what she promised to him.
''I am more than ready.'' Thought Gon.
Mito only looked at her nephew in worry. That look on his eyes…it was just like him
''Hey Mito, you haven't forgotten. This is it.'' Said Gon all serious making the fish.
''Sure. I know that. I wouldn't forget a promise like that, even if I wanted.'' Said her with a laugh.
''What promise?'' Asked the man in the counter.
''If you like it aunt Mito is going to sign my registration to Totsuki Academy.'' Said Gon.
The entire restaurant was now surprised by this. Gon, their little chef would try out for Totsuki?
''Totsuki academy. The Super Elite cooking school?'' Asked a woman.
''Yes, I want to go there and study in the same place as my father.'' Said Gon.
''Wow. Can you handle that Gon?" Asked a man drinking a beer.
''I am more than ready. I have been cooking ever since I was little, I learned a lot from books and from Mito. I want to become a great chef like her and like my father. Plus, I want to make him taste some of my food.'' Said Gon all serious.
The truth was Gon never of that place until four years ago. Also, he thought that his father had died in a car crash when he was younger, however a cook that said was a disciple of his told Gon that he was alive and traveling the world. After graduating the Totsuki Academy Gin Frescc travel the entire world going to place to place and only came back to Japan for one reason, to give Gon to Mito.
Now that Gon has studied and training nonstop over the last 4 years, he was finally ready to show his skills to the world.
''Here you go.'' Said Gon with his new plate. It was called Creamy Fish a la whale style.
''Thanks. This smell amazing.'' Said the man.
''If you don't like it we are not gonna charge for the entire meal.'' Said Mito with a smile
''MITO!'' Scream Gon and the old woman.
''He.'' Said Mito with a cheap smile.
The man took a sniff from the fish, and it was like a creamy forest had entered his nose. He wanted to explore the place and have fun.
Soon he took a bite and he felt swimming in the rich cream and playing with the vegetables alongside the fish. That was a dish, really worth the wait.
''Wow!'' Scream him in pure joy.
'''So how what do you think?" Asked Gon.
''It's amazing. The fish is still juicy, the cream is so rich, and I can still taste all the vegetables. Gon it's amazing.'' Said him.
''So how would you rated?" Asked Gon.
The man only fish his plate and clean his mouth. Upon finished he said only one thing.
''Approved!'' Scream him.
Gon jumped in happiness. He did it, he made a really good special of the day.
'Yes! Scream him.
The entire restaurant jumped with Gon. All cheering and praised him, the only one that wasn't smiling was Mito. If he passed than it means he had to go.
''So, Aunt Mito, you know our deal. Can you sign here?'' Asked Gon with a sheet of paper.
The woman didn't wanna do that, but she had no choice. Soon she signed her name and gave the paper back to Gon.
''Ok here you go.'' Said her.
''yes!'' Scream Gon all excited.
''Nice job kid.'' Said the man that eat the special
''You really are going to make big there. Unlike Mito.'' Said another man drinking a bear smirking at the woman.
''Shut up, just for that I will raise the price of the beer.'' Said her.
''Ok, we will shut up.'' Said the man with a drunk smile.
As the woman continue to prepare food for the customers, her mind wasn't on the mood today. Gon passed, which mean he would go to Totsuki and leave her… just like Gin did.
''Is in his blood.'' Thought Mito, this was just like Gin.
''Is ok to be scared Mito. He is just following his father footsteps.'' Said the grandmother.
''No, is not ok Grandma. I wanted Gon to be here by my side cooking and not…be sucked to that tower of hell.'' Said Mito.
''But you know that Totsuki is a hard school. A kid like him can deal it.'' Said the old woman.
''not of his caliber.'' Said Mito.
''Listen, Gon is an excellent chef. If you wanna blame someone you should blame yourself for teaching how to cook in the first place. Shouldn't you taught him to be a doctor?'' Asked the older woman with a smirk.
''Whatever.'' Said Mito trying to keep her mind busy.
As Mito prepared the lunch for the customers, she couldn't stop and think about Gon leaving to try out for that horrible school.
On Gon room
The boy was looking at his knives, his forks, his favorite fishing rod and thinking of how he got here.
''I am going to Totsuki.'' Thought Gon.
He looked at the picture of his father. The only one that he knew of it. That was him next to a motorcycle, he never saw a picture of his mom, Mito said that the two married in a court instead of having an actual wedding.
But the most important thing is that Gon won't forget how he got to know what Totsuki was.
''I won't ever forget you mister Kite.'' Thought Gon.
Flashback
Four years ago
Gon was a 10-year-old kid only helping out with Mito in the groceries and running the dinner. He was just a cute kid, that thought that cooking was the most amazing thing in the world. Right now, he was helping Mito in doing the inventory.
''Gon, after counting the onions can you do the potatoes?" Asked Mito.
''Ok.'' Said Gon
Gon went and grabbed a big sack of potatoes. He was strong enough to handle that, but he still need some practice to handle everything.
''Phew.'' Said Gon tired.
Soon he open the bag and only of the potatoes started to roll out.
''Oh no.'' Said Gon worried.
Gon went running after the rolling out potato, it was kind funny. After a minute of chasing, he saw that a guy with long hair and white tank top caught the vegetable.
''Huh?" Asked Gon curious.
''Is that your potato?'' Asked the man.
''Yes sir. Now I need to throw it out.'' Said Gon ready to have the thing take care of it.
However, the man, upon hearing that took like a serious offense.
''How can you say that? This potato is perfectly fine. Just wash a little bit and do some cutting and you can have a thousand plates right now.'' Said him super angry.
Gon felt a little sad with that, he never liked being scream at. He hated done things that upset the others
''Sorry.'' Said him.
''is ok, this is the type of stuff that your parents should taught you.'' Said the man.
The kid only loos even sad now.
''I don't have any parents. My mom died giving me birth and my dad on a car accident.'' Said him and the man looks more agility now.
''Oh sorry. Here, how about I make a good use of this potato and make some soup. What do you think?'' Asked him trying to cheer Gon.
''Thank you sir.'' Said Gon a little happy now.
''Call me Kite.''
Soon the man prepared a nice potato soup with a little equipment had laid around near the strets and put some spices in there and the soup was ready.
''Here, try it.'' Said him.
Gon then took a sip of Kite soup and was really amazed at it.
''It's so good. You use a good amount of salt; I can smell that in your hands.'' Said Gon.
Kite was taken away by that answer, this was something that his senpai would have say it.
''Kid is your father named Gin?" Asked Kite.
''how do you know my father's name?'' Asked Gon.
''So, it's true. He has a son. '' Thought Kite.
''So, you know my dad?" Asked Gon confused.
''Yes, when I was a student of Totsuki he was my senpai.'' Said Kite.
''Totsuki?'' Asked Gon confused
''Yes, the famous cooking school.'' Said Kite.
''You were a student there? Because I never heard of it? And you were the best cook?" Asked Gon curious.
''I was listed on number 6 of special selection there during my years. My cooking styles has more to do with wildlife. Let me explain, there at Totsuki every student has a cooking style, your father was…'' Said Kite.
After that Kite explained to Gon what Totsuki was. The trials, the Elile Council of Ten, the hard test, everything.
''Gin isn't dead. He is alive.'' Said Kite.
''So, why would my aunt lie to me?'' Asked Gon.
''Well, I guess is better than say that your father pretty much choose the career over you. Hey but don't worry, I bet that one day you will meet him.'' Said Kite.
Gon could only smile at that. Sharing a meal with Kite was something special with him and that would forever be craved in his memory.
After that Gon asked Mito to teach how to cook, at first, she thought it was to run the restaurant, but it was to be like Gin. After that Gon trained in various cooking styles but hasn't found his style yet. He was going to try everything to enter Totsuki and find out what was so great about there that made Gin choose his career over him.
Today
Gon looked at his pet cat name Kon, who he raised ever since was kitten and had to say goodbye.
''Well Kon I won't be around here much longer. I will be busy making dishes nonstop. I hope you understood.'' Said Gon
He looked at his pet and passed his hand around his fur.
''i´m going to become a chef just like my father.'' Thought Gon
Later after the restaurant close both his aunt and grandmother appeared with serious questions.
''You wanna enter Totsuki?'' Asked Mito.
''Yes, more than anything.'' Said Gon.
'Then you best start studying and training.'' Said the grandmother.
''that's right. That school is infamous to crush students just like we crush bugs around here. You better be ready for what about to come.'' Said Mito.
Gon looked at the two and was all fired up.
''Ok, I am ready.'' Said Gon ready to start the training.
''You are so energetic.'' Said the grandmother.
''I will become a great chef.'' Said Gon all serious.
''Sure, you will.'' Said the older woman with a smile.
Gon was ready to start making a dish but his aunt looked completely sad.
''Aunt Mito are you sad that I wanna do this?'' Asked Gon worried.
The woman wanted to say ´´yes´´, but she didn't wanna crush his dreams.
''No, whatever makes you happy makes me happy.'' Said her with a smile.
''So, let's start the lesson.'' Said The Grandmother.
''We are starting with sauces. Are you ready?'' Asked Mito.
''Yes, but before we start, I would like you answer this question.'' Said Gon to his aunt.
''What is it?"'' Asked Mito.
''So why did my dad choose the profession over me?" Asked Gon
The adult woman at first looked timid by this, but then decided to tell what she taught of that.
''Your dad wanted to become a type of chef that accepts any kind of challenge. Any impossible dish he wants to make and it was impossible to stop him He was without a doubt a big pain in the butt.'' Said Mito being honest.
Gon was amazed by this. So, his dad was like a super chef. He wanted to meet him and show him what he can cook.
''Wow, he sounds amazing.'' Said Gon.
Mito didn't like this. If Gon went the same path as Gin he would put his job over his happiness, like most of the students of Totsuki.
''Please don't become him.'' Thought Mito.
''Come Gon, we have a lot of things to do.'' Said the grandmother.
The trio went out and started the training.
Gon spends days upon days learning how to cook proper meals, please all the senses of the human body and make sure that all his meals are on point. It was a hard work, but it would be for a goof cause.
A few months later.
Gon was ready to leave to try out for the Totsuki exam.
''I am ready!'' Scream Gon.
Mito only saw that in worry, it was just like Gin he went to do the exam and after that she stop seeing him.
''You are more than ready.'' Said the grandmother.
''Also, if you fail is not the end of the world.'' Said Mito.
''I will not fail, you two taught me well how to cook.'' Said Gon.
The two women only smile and soon hand Gon a bento box.
''Here is your lunch. Don't eat on the way of the exam, understood?" Asked Mito.
''Thanks.'' Said Gon accepting the food.
''You have everything?" Asked the grandmother.
''Yes., I guess they are going to provide the ingredients there.'' Said Gon.
Mito was only seeing this and looking nervous at this whole scene.
''Please fail. I just want the best for you.'' Thought Mito.
''You are full of energy there Gon.'' Said the grandmother with a smile.
''I want to do my best in every dish I make. So, I need to be at full power.'' Said him.
''don't get like his all the time. Otherwise, you will get tired.'' Said the grandmother.
''Goodbye Mito, goodbye Grandmother.'' Said Gon going to do the test. But they didn't know why he was talking like he was going to be off for a while, it was just a day and he will be back for dinner.
Mito only saw Gon going away to go into the test. She was just worried like a mother would, even if Gon wasn't her child.
''Just say it. Admit it, you are scared of losing him.'' Said the grandmother.
''I just don't want to see him go. If he is accepted…we might never see him again.'' Said Mito.
The Aunt and Grandmother see the boy continuing to run toward the school. There Gon face probably the biggest test of his life.
With Gon
The boy ran all the blocks towards the school. It was a 3 Km run from where he was, but he didn't mind. He jogged every day, so this was a piece of cake.
''I can't wait to meet all the others participants.'' Said Gon.
Gon stopped in his track because the stop sign said so. However, what called his attention even more was a dark limousine that was right by his side.
''A limousine?" Asked Gon in thought.
Soon the window of the limousine was pull down revealing a very pale looking boy.
''Huh?'' Asked Gon.
''Hey kid, what are you doing running all crazy?" Asked the kid in the limo.
''Well, I´m just excited. You see I am going now to do a super culinary test.'' Said Gon.
''Where are you heading too?" Asked the kid.
''Totsuki Academy.'' Said Gon.
The kid seemed surprised by that answer.
''Wait a minute, you are going to Totsuki?'' Asked him.
''Yes, I am going there to become a great chef just like my dad. I won't stop until they accept me.'' Said Gon all optimistic.
The kid didn't know why but he was impressed with the glow that Gon emitted, it was something that he has never seen before.
''Enter here.'' Said the kid opening the door of the limo.
''Huh?'' Asked Gon confused.
''Master what are you….'' Said the driver confused.
''I don't care Gotoh for the rules. I like him, he has actual passion for cooking. Do you know how rare is to find this nowadays?''' Said him.
''Yes sir.'' Said Gotoh.
''Please enter but clean your shoes.'' Said the kid.
''Thanks.'' Said Gon entering in the limo.
''My name is Killua. Killua Zoldycks.''
''Mine is Gon. Gon Freesc.
Gon soon entered in the Limo and was impressed on how it looked in the inside. It was like a mini house inside of a car.
''Wow, this is so amazing.'' Said Gon.
''You get impressed so easily.'' Said Killua with a smile.
''Yes, I never been to a limo before.''' Said Gon.
'''Of course.'' Said Killua and soon the kid show off a ton of candies in front of the two.
''Wow are these candies all yours?" Asked Gon.
''Yes, I got on my 10-year birthday. A candy bar.'' Said Killua with a smile.
''Incredible. What are your favorites?'' Asked Gon.
The two kept talking all the way in the ride. The driver Gotoh only had a little smile upon seeing all this. It seen that Killua had made his first friend after a lifetime of hard work.
After a 10 minute drive they soon reached their destination.
''Here we are young master.'' Said Gotoh.
''Thanks Gotoh.'' Said Killua.
''Yes, thanks mister Gotoh.'' Said Gon.
''If you finish early just give me a call.'' Said Gotoh.
''don't worry. I will be here at the time I'm need it.'' Said Killua.
''Really? You think the exam will take that long.'' Asked Gon and that made Killua chuckle.
''Please, do you have any idea on how hard this exam are for regular chefs? Someone of my style is not going to be here that long.'' Said Killua all relaxed.
Gon didn't know what Killua was saying, but he appears to be someone that was an incredible chef. Probably better than him, he hoped that Killua would show him some of his techniques.
''You are really amazing Killua.'' Said Gon with a smile.
Killua only blushes at that statement.
''Hey! Don't go praise me all that.'' Said Killua all embarrassed.
''Is ok, but the way you talk it seems you know what are you doing.'' Said Gon.
''Of course, I been cooking ever since I was four. I am a skilled chef raised by a family of world-famous restaurant owners.'' Said Killua.
''Wow, that makes you more awesome.'' Said Gon.
''Man, why I had to try to be friends with him?" Asked Killua in thought.
Gon and Killua soon saw what Totsuki looked like. And it was like the tallest building in the face of the Earth, plus it appears it had some large amount of land for the students to walk. It was like a huge theme park, but it was a culinary school.
''Let's get going Killua.'' Said Gon all excited ready to enter.
The two were about to enter when a guy with red haired also show up at the same time.
''Wow, so this is the Totsuki Academy?" Asked the red hair guy.
''Yes, it is.'' Said Gon.
''Wait a minute, are you going to try to enter?" Asked Killua confused.
''Yes, I´m here to reach to the top.'' Said the guy.
''So, hopeless.'' Thought Killua.
''Why are you here? I mean, nothing against you but they are going to kill there.'' Said Killua.
''You are super pale ein there buddy. Doesn't like going to be the beach?" Asked the kid.
Killua only stare in anger at this guy. If he could he would stab his throat with an ice picker.
''You are really funny.'' Said Gon.
''Thanks.'' Said the other guy.
The two soon started to talk if they were pals, Killua hating being now the third wheel decided to make things to a little faster.
''Hey shouldn't we be going?'' Asked Killua with a good point.
''Yes, you are right.'' Said Gon.
''We need to get going. I see a lot of people in the front.'' Said the other guy.
The three soon walked inside and saw a bunch of rich kids with their butlers.
''Really fancy this place.'' Said Gon.
''yes, do you work with stuff like this?'' Asked Killua to Gon but the other guy interrupts.
''No, but at the Sumiredori Shopping district we have a fancy place that sells wine glasses.'' Said him.
''Wait a minute, did you say Sumiredori?'' Asked Gon.
''yes, this where the restaurant of my family is located.'' Said the guy.
''No way, my family also rans a restaurant but its on the neighbor street. 'Said Gon
''What restaurant does your family ran?'''' Asked him.
''Blue Whale family dinner.'' Said Gon.
''Really! Oh boy those gyozas that I had there were the best.'' Said him.
''Oh thanks, we do with fresh ingredients.'' Said Gon.
''Man, I wish I had those ingredients at my restaurant. Can you give me the recipe?'' Asked the guy.
''I can't, I vowed to never reveal it.'' Said Gon.
''Please!'' Said the guy pretty much in one knee.
''I don't know.'' Said Gon.
While those two were talking like morons Killua was pissed that he was being left out of the talk.
''Hey, can you two knock out! We have a test to take!'' Scream Killua.
''Sorry'' Said Gon and the other kid.
''Whatever, hey paprika head do you think you can handle this test?" Asked Killua all pissed.
''my name is Soma Yukihira little guy. Come to think I didn't ask your names yet.'' Said Soma.
''I´m Gon and this is Killua.''
''Hey.'' Said Killua all pissed.
The three soon walked in the halls of Totsuki and soon found a group of kids that must be the other people trying out for the school.
''Do you think we stand a chance here?" Asked Soma.
''Yes, as long we put our hard work into a good meal anything is possible.'' Said Gon.
Killua looked at the giant building. He has been there a few times, but wasn't expecting to do the test right. He liked the people that ran the school, however he hated one person there very much.
''As long I dont spot that cold chef and her slave I will be fine.'' Thought KIllua.
As the three walked they didn't imagine of what that school was preparing for them.
So here we the first chapter. This will be a very fun fic to do, I can't wait to show all the others Hunter X Hunter characters integrated into the Food Wars world. It will be a total blast to write and I can't wait to continue. I hope you all enjoy this, goodbye.
