CHAPTER ONE :Tris- 10 years old
Today, I was walking down the science building as it was the last block. Carrying a huge bunch of textbooks in my hands. I kept staring at Christina who lives within a hailing distance from my house. She is 5 years older than me and was walking with Will, a boy she has a crush on. It's something that's very obvious, everyone knows about it. The coolest thing about having a high school and elementary school together is that students get involved in unwilling gossip. Words have no wings but they diffuse rapidly in just a fraction of seconds. Pity on me! There's zero excitement in my life. I am all alone. So I thought. Suddenly a boy bumped into me.
" Ohh!" the boy mumbles. He had messy black brown hair, hair curls that folds evenly at his forehead that can't be controlled. Blue mesmerizing eyes that shine brightly through the specs too. "Sorry, I got this," he said, picking up the books.
"Thank you," I replied, staring at him, wondering why I haven't seen him here earlier.
"Woo man, apologizes from my side. One of your books got wet," he replied with a frown.
"Well, it's okay. By the way, do I know you? I haven't seen you here before. Who are you?"
"Hi Tris, I am Tobias! You haven't seen me because I never came out of my house. I was homeschooled," said with a smile.
"Wait, what ,you know my name?"I asked perplexed.
"You introduced yourself in the assembly before singing the song, that's how I know your name," he said, clearing up her confusion.
"Ohh...okay. Where is the bus?(looking around) .Am I late?" pressing her palms to her forehead, " I think I missed the bus, now how will I go home, it's not possible for Uncle to come and pick me up."
"I can help you if you want?"
"And how do you think you can, how old are you? We are so young, what can be done?"
"I am 10 years old," he said with a smile, proud of his age." Well...I don't know. I just can. I know I can. And even if I don't know I can make it simpler."
Looking at Tobias reminds me of those superheroes who are there to save the girl from a complicated mess. I don't trust him, he acts older, more mature than what he is. He is super weird and I don't know what to say next.
He continued, " Look….just tell me. Where do you live?"
I wondered whether I Should tell him or not, because Uncle has restricted me from talking to strangers. However, I concluded, what was the worst that could happen from what the situation is? Hence, I told him," Do you know the central statue, I live just next to that."
Tobiasreplied, " Oh great, my house is also near yours. Let's walk home together... At last I am taught to help people in need."
"Oh really, okay let's go then. What about your friends? Are they walking with us?"
"No, I don't have any friends yet. Like it's been a day and half and no one talks to me even if I try to,"he said with gloom.
Those words actually hit me. I realized that I am in the same situation as he is. That again reminded me of how lonely I was because from childhood I was here and yet I have zero friends. It made me realize that Tobiasisn't that bad. He is actually just trying to make friends. And now also whatever he is doing is to be friends with me.
"Okay…..so should we walk home!?"I asked with a smile.
"So does that mean that we are friends?"
"Umm….yes, i think so," I said, accepting his friendship proposal.
I have known Tobiasfor all of fifteen minutes and I already know more about him than any other kid I've met. "Friends. It's a nice word to hear" ,I say, wanting him to stay and talk to me.
Soon we started meeting everyday. We were in different sections but we met up during assembly, in recess break and many more places. A few days ago, he told me that he liked my company and I was ecstatic too to be with him.
