Hi.

I'm a god.

I sat in a classroom - only there were naked people on the inspirational posters, weapons carried by every student, and a dead body in the second row. The dead body was a splattered mess in the corner. Droids cleaned up the mess. She made a mistake - got an important question wrong, was soft, shallow. She liked the cute young Jedi. Mistake. She wanted to show mercy. Bigger mistake. She wanted to do whatever the Jedi told her to do - fatal mistake. The rest of us needed to learn to think for ourselves, to be gods, to not be sheep. I needed to be anything but sheep.

Life is brutal.

I am a Sith.

I was in training to be an apprentice, a dark lord enforcer for a darth. I listened to the teacher, Lord Malvey. He taught us much.

"Peace is a lie," he says. "We need to understand that, to understand that peace is not possible. Life is a brutal and short war. We need to fight to win that war, to get on top, to fight for that little piece of the galaxy that we can control."

"There is only passion," I said. That was the next line in the sith code.

"Correct," he said. "What does that mean?"

"To live life to the fullest," I said.

"How?"

I paused.

"Not as easy to answer, is it?" Malvey asked. "How do we live with passion?"

"Fuck beautiful women," someone said. Kartel. Kartel said that. Kartel was an alien, a twi'lek, a lean and tentacled man with a sinister looking face. He wore all black but more smuggler gear than actual sith gear. Kartel wanted to fuck beautiful women, use drugs, and have more power and influence. He might make it as a sith.

People laughed.

"I agree," Malvey said. "We fuck beautiful women. Or beautiful men. Or both." Laughter. "Drinking." People laughed. "Let's have a drink, all of us."

Malvey got a bottle of liquor from his virtual inventory and started to pour shots for everyone in class, all eleven of us. We each got a shot of whisky poured and drank our shots. They tasted terrible but made my chest warm with a little glow. I enjoyed this. We were drinking in a classroom.

"Now," Malvey says. "You can't learn that in a Jedi classroom. I'm going to kill half of you, but it's for the betterment of the sith. So you can thank me. Thanks."

We learned to levitate a book for the remainder of an hour, practicing until our minds burned and our eyes felt like bleeding. We left for our lunch break. I paid for lunch with a voucher given to the scholarship students and ordered chicken with rice and vegetables. I drank soda. I sat there, alone at my table, looking at the other students. The twi'leks sat together at one table, and at another table sit the geeks and other smart kids. The jocks sat together, with their ripped bodies and their pretty faces and their obnoxious, preening arrogance. I sat alone, convinced of my superiority to everyone else.

After lunch we had a couple of hours free. "Look for ways to help yourselves or get work done," Malvey says. "Do something. Record yourselves making yourselves useful to the Sith and see how you do."

I walked outside. The enormous Sith Temple dominates Korriban, but the outside looks amazing too. It's a desert - an amazing and breathtaking place. I walked to some of the sith ruins on the outskirts of the area around the temple.

I saw a naked woman, beautiful and young, wearing nothing, sitting there, outside of the temple. She stared at me and covered up when I walked past. A man stood above her and frowned at me. He was older, menacing, and clearly rich. I walked past.

I continued over to the area where they were excavating old ruins. There were always old ruins that needed investigating. Animal attacks plagued the students - I knew that it was considered a brutal form of practice by the teachers. We fought many animals to prove our worth to the sith lords. I walked towards an old ruin, a nasty old place, a place that looked dark and ominous on the inside. Above it - on the outside - it looked peaceful and quiet and serene, a place of worship, a place to learn and gain knowledge and give thanks for a nice life and a nice religion.

I walked inside the dark room. I saw a beast, a nexu with claws and teeth and a ferocious appetite. it wanted to eat me. It is the essence of existence: existence is someone trying to eat me. I pull out my training saber and kill it, slamming into it over and over with my training blade.

Further in I saw an old ghost. He muttered to himself, wearing a dirty shirt and sweatpants, muttering about a game or something. I saw this ghost and thought about how sad and pathetic it must be to become this person. I wanted to be an intelligent, hardworking, articulate, successful gentleman. I didn't want to wear rags and stumble around in an old rotten place without friends. I wanted to help him.

"They've taken over," he says. Then he turns and looks at me. "They've taken over everything before anyone could notice."

"Who?" I ask. "Who has taken over everything? The Sith?"

"No," he said. "The Sith have been broken by them. The Galactic Republic have been broken by them. They rule everything."

"Who are they?" I ask.

"No one knows," he says. "No one knows who they are, just that they rule everything."

"Not true," I said. "Your source?"

"The ghosts," he said. "The ghosts told me, someone is in charge of everything, someone evil, someone against even the sith."

"Fine," I say. "I'll check that, be back. See what I think."

I left with my training saber and heard my alarm go off on my wrist-mounted computer. Damn. I had to get back and hadn't done much except kill a nexu. I walked back to the temple and saw something as I walked in.

I saw a man, naked. He is well-built and attractive. He stood there in front of a female Sith lord. She smiled at me.

"He lost his clothes privileges," she said.

"Of course, my lord," I said. This was normal life at the Sith Academy on Korriban.

I walked through the main corridor into the temple proper. There were Republic prisoners being held by cuffs, looking hopeless and scared and desperate. Sith Empire soldiers walked through the walls, busily marching from area to area. Mouse droids squeaked and tried to avoid getting stepped on as they ran throughout the facility. Sith lords walked around with lightsabers at their belt, gods above men, as they live their lives, chatting or channeling the Force or just meditating and gaining power.

Who rules everything? How does one prove whether a shadow organization exists? Who can prove influence? I don't know. I stand there, looking outside of my classroom, and see the teacher there, standing there. I walked in. There was a teacher, and he was Lord Malvey. He had a female student standing in front of the class next to him.

"Women," he said.

Everyone laughed.

"Women are great, right? Sex is great. Fucking is great."

I nodded even though I was a virgin. I hadn't slept with anyone in my eighteen years. No one had ever expressed any interest in a quiet young man who sat in the corner, reading books about people having great adventures.

Malvey smiled. "Let's teach sex," he said. "Let's teach nudity. Let's teach how to have sex properly, how to seduce people properly and well. Elijah, come up to the front of the class."

I walked up to the front of the class.

"You look nervous," Malvey said.

"I am nervous," I said.

"You are weak," he said.

"No, my lord," I said. "I will fight through it. I am not weak. Never weak."

"Good," he said. "Stand there. Next person, Bellik, stand up, come up here."

Bellik, a large and very buff young man, walked up and stood up right next to me.

"Bellik is a god," Malvey said. "Bellik, take your clothes off."

Bellik took his clothes off, all of them. He was a stud with an amazing, sculpted body. He looked perfect. Malvey smiled. "What do you have to say, Elijah?"

"He has a good body," I said.

"And if you can't compete?" Malvey asked. "If you fought him, and the winner got to have sex with any student in this class, would you win, or would you lose?"

"I'd win," I said.

"There's a difference between confidence and stupidity," Malvey said.

"Nevertheless, I like my chances," I said.

"He is a living god," Malvey said.

"And I am a sith lord in the making," I said. "I can defeat him in combat."

The class laughed.

"We will see," Malvey said. "Fight him."

Billek turned and tried to punch me. I blocked and slammed him ten yards to the wall of the classroom with the force. He collapsed. He tried to stand, but I hit him with force lightning. He couldn't stand or move. He collapsed to the ground, drained of energy. I smiled.

"I win," I said.

"Good for you," Lord Malvey said. "Good. Who will you sleep with?"

"I will sleep with no one," I said. I didn't want to pressure someone who might not fully be interested, and frankly, I was scared of sleeping with someone in front of everyone.

Darkness blackened the school. It felt like nighttime. The teacher put clothes on Billek. The students listened to the teacher and his ramblings. He gave them advice on how to deal with people, how to make them do what you want.

School ended for the evening. I went back to my corner of the Sith temple. I sat there for a few minutes and looked at my tablet. I had nothing interesting on there - a couple old holos about some people adventuring on Tatooine.

I needed to investigate the force ghosts who might know about a sinister force controlling all of reality. I understood that, as an acolyte, I might not be ready for such a task, but I felt like I should do something. I should warn someone, I thought. That might be prudent.

I walked back outside of our temple and to the ruins that held the ancient sith lord. Outside of the ruins - in an open area around many ruins - walked a group of sith students. They were loud and had liquor in their hands. They held mostly training sabers but a few lightsabers. They walked up to me.

"What's this?" one asked. "A lonely little puppy, not knowing how to get home?"

"I'm not a puppy, friend," I said.

"Oh, I'm not your friend," he said. He was a medium-height black person with no hair and a well-trimmed goatee. He clearly worked out. "You have to work to become my friend. I'm Malavai."

"My apologies," I said. "I'll go. I have business."

"No," he said. "It's nighttime. You don't have business. You have fun time. You should be having fun. We're having fun." He turned to the others. "Are we having fun?"

"Yeah," a girl said. I was smitten with her. She had short dark hair. She was short and curvy. She held a lightsaber at her belt and wore robes. She smiled. "We're having a lot of fun. Live life to the fullest, have the dopest parties, fuck the hottest people, make the most money, that's us, always will be." She turned and kissed a female friend of hers.

"Wow," I said. "That's a little superficial."
"It's a lot superficial," she said. "That's the point, to live the perfect life, to get everything, to be the perfect person, to do everything, and then at the end, say that I enjoyed every minute of a life without meaning, a life of ignoring the worst hell imaginable, a place without rules or morals."

"Oh," I said. "So the sith not having real law bothers you? It bothers me."

"It bothers me," she said. "I'm Lilene."

"I'm Elijah Sadow," I said.

"A legacy," she said. "No wonder you're skulking around old ruins."

"They have force ghosts," I said. "Someone should listen to the force ghosts."

"I agree," Malavai said. "We will join you, Lilene and I, to talk to the force ghost, to make sure that he is not ignored, so that when we are the same way, someone won't ignore us, at the end of a long life adventuring and carousing the universe."

"Good," I said.

We walked into the ruins and saw him there, in his sweatpants and ratty old t-shirt. He stood there, with a beard. He smiled.

"Thanks for stopping by," he said.

"The lead," I said. "Where did it come from?"

"The force," he said. "Look, here's a trace. It shows that someone explained that a force had taken over and was controlling everything, including the sith. Here's the text typed in. Here's the force noticing and sending the message over to us."

"Who wrote the message?" I asked.

"Darth Maul," he said.

"Ah," I said. "A living legend."

"He sent the message to Kylo Ren's force ghost."

"Ah," I said.

"We appear to have a lead," Malavai said. "We appear to have a chance to talk to them, see if they need help with anything."

"I agree," I said.

"Now, the interesting thing is," the force ghost said, "the people who may be taking them over. The people who are wrongfully in charge of everything. They're a group of Mandalorians, bounty hunters with thousands of kills. They decided that they could rule better than the Jedi and their precious Republic or the sith and their emperor or their First Order. They have taken over everything from the shadows. They give orders on Korriban through their agent, Malvey."

"Damn it," I said. "Our teacher is the bad guy?"
"Yeah," Malavai said. "We have to look into this, tap into his communications, watch him to make sure that he is okay."

"I agree," I said. "We need to see what he is up to."

"Let's spy on him," Lilene said.

I shook the hand of the force ghost. "Thank you," I said.

"You are welcome," he said. "Stop by anytime."

We went back to the temple. The temple was massive, with a huge entryway with scary sith glyphs on it proclaiming the place to be a place to abandon all hope when you entered the place. There were huge staircases leading up to the higher levels and elevators leading to the highest level of sith lords. There were areas for hanging out and carousing. There were Republic prisoners in the prison areas. There were hundreds of students living there along with the staff and security. It was a college in full. The downstairs area - below the surface of the planet - went down very far - no one knew how far. It simply got more and more fucked up as one went down. We went down twelve floors below the surface of the planet to find Lord Malvey. We found him down there, naked.

He was naked, with a student, Ariana, bent over a desk, naked, in front of him. He was either fucking her or raping her. It was unclear which he was doing. Malavai entered the room, walking in immediately. Malvey stopped and immediately started to put clothes on.

"You weren't here," he said.

"You weren't here," Ariana said.

"Were you consenting?" I asked, entering the room.

"Does it matter?" Ariana asked.

"Yes," I said.

"No," Ariana said.

Malavai took out his training saber and attacked Malvey, swinging hard and immediately at Malvey. I figured we would win - he wouldn't be teaching if he was a godlike sith lord. He would teach us beginning students if he was a poor sith who could barely do what was required.

Malvey drew his red lightsaber and parried Malavai's attacks immediately. He gestured, and force lightning appeared from his hands and coursed into Malavai. He collapsed onto the ground, writhing. Malvey looked at us. I charged at him with all of my strength. I swung at him with my training saber. He knocked it clean out of my hand.

Malavai stood up, overcoming the force lightning. He walked over to Malvey. He used the last of his strength to smash Malvey's head in - collapsing Malvey's head in an explosion of energy. Malavai then collapsed, dead, next to Malvey's dead body.

"Damn," I said. I picked up my training saber. I turned to Lilene and Ariana. "What do we do now?"

"We leave, and mention this to no one," Lilene said.

"Good," I said. "We need his information. We need to know everything that Malvey knew. His datapad."

"I have it," Ariana said. "We can get started hacking it."

We walked up the twelve stories back to the surface of the temple and to our rooms. I went to my room, and the two ladies joined me to hang out, drink tea, and chat.

"He was my friend," Lilene said. "Malavai was great."

"He seemed to live everything to the max," I said.

"He died avenging my rape," Ariana said. "If I have grandchildren, I will tell them about him."

"Cool," I said.

"Do you believe that we are fighting Mandalorian forces that control reality?" Lilene asked.

"Yes," I said. "Welcome to our lives."

Ariana had red hair and was tallish and skinny and of noble sith blood. She was human, like me and Lilene. She wore rich people's clothes - clearly clothes made of expensive designer cloth made by Czerka's elite brand of fashion gear. She spoke quickly and clearly and played with her datapad a lot.

"We need a hacker," she said. "I know one. He's great."

"Good," I said.

"He's over in the maintenance area," Ariana said. "He cleans my room."

"Ah," I said.

"He's a good hacker, though?" Lilene asked.

"Yeah," Ariana said. "He also cleans."

The three of us walked over through the central area of the temple and past a procession in which a dozen sith lords walked past us towards a conference room. They looked large and imposing. Darth Maul was there, as was Revan and Malak. We let them pass and then went to the maintenance area. There were six droids and cleaning supplies galore. One of the cleaning droids looked at us. It was an R2 unit

The R2 unit made a series of beeps.

"Can you dehack this datapad, buddy?" Ariana asked.

R2 beeped some more.

"Thanks," Ariana said. She handed him the datapad and R2 grabbed it and began to hack it. After a minute he handed it back to us. I looked at it.

"He's been in contact with a group of Mandalorians," I said. "They are led by someone. I don't know who he is or much about him. His name's Bobba Fett."

"Ah," Lilene said. "He's a notorious bounty hunter, one of the toughest."
Someone walked into the room. It was Darth Maul, red and with tattoos and his double-bladed red lightsaber.

"What is the meaning of this?" he asked.

"We're spying on Bobba Fett," I said. "He may try to influence all of reality, the whole galaxy."

"Oh?" Darth Maul asked.

"He had intel from Malvey, who died for being a rapist asshole earlier tonight."

"Evidence?" he asked.

"He raped me," Ariana said.

"Proven," Darth Maul said. "I believe the women in these cases. You caught him. All right, what do we do now? How would you proceed? Elijah?"

"We need to send a faulty message and arrange a meeting with the next person above Malvey in the chain of command and then attack whoever comes to that meeting," I said. "Take it to the next higher person in the chain of command."

"Sounds like a brilliant idea,' Darth Maul said. "Let's configure the message and pretend that it was a text from Malvey, from before he died."

"Good," I said. "Easily done."

"Now we wait," Darth Maul said, "for them to get back to us."

We went to class about an hour later. Lilene and Ariana were lumped into class with me. We had a new teacher, Lord Atton. Lord Atton was a hotshot spacer who piloted spaceships, any kind of spaceship, and who gambled big.

"I knew a guy, who enlightened me, who taught me," he said. "He was a good guy, a good person, and a sith lord. He showed me how to do what you feel is best and at the same time smear the galaxy with your opponents' blood. I know you want to whack people with lightsabers and shoot them with force lightning. I'm here to tell you that there is so much more than the fight. There's the talking, the information gathering, the negotiations, the learning. There's gassing someone, poisoning them, blowing them up, overloading the console to kill them, reprogramming their droid to kill them. There's so many ways to kill someone, and you have to protect yourself from them - and be able to do them to others. I have to teach you every single one of them."

We slowly learned poisons and how to avoid them. We learned how to avoid odorless, colorless gasses which would kill us. We learned to not get shot in the back of the head. He also taught us how to fight with lightsabers - we used training sabers actually. He also taught us force lightning but said that it was a last resort for showing off when everything else had failed. Halfway through the afternoon session of class Malvey's datapad beeped. I looked at it.

It said to meet in sixty minutes outside the tomb of Marka Ragnos. I raised my hand to talk to Lord Atton Rand.

"I have to go, important business, my lord," I said.

"Oh?" he asked. "Are you going to kill people?"

"Yes, my lord, probably," I said.

"I approve," he said. "Be careful, and do your absolute best. Remember, everyone in my class is on the same team. It's us against the galaxy. Ignore the other teachers who killed their own students. I'm here to help you and to teach you to help each other. We'll be watching and supporting you, Elijah Sadow, on your mission."

"I'm coming with," Lilene said. "So's Ariana."

"Good," I said.

We left on speeders to get to the tomb of Marka Ragnos. We made it after half an hour and sat there, with Darth Maul in an ambush spot, and began to wait for there to be someone to show up to talk to us.

"Do you miss him?" I asked.

"Malavai?" Ariana asked. "Yeah."

"So do I," I said. "Will anyone miss me?"

"I will," Lilene said. "Do you have family?"

"No," I said. "They died in a duel when I was young. Both of them, in a stupid duel, against someone way their superior."

"Oh," Ariana said. "I need my dad to know not to get involved with sith politics. It would just get him killed."

"We know that now," I said.

"Good," Lilene said. "Now we know a lot more than we did before."

"We do," I said. "But we still have to learn more. We have to learn more about the enemy. We need to know who he is."

"Bobba Fett," Ariana said.

"The same," I said.

"He's a bounty hunter," Ariana said. "Doesn't talk much. Legendary."

"Got it," I said.

We sat there, outside of a scary tomb with a statue of a sphinx above the entrance, and waited and chatted. There was desert around us, and a few students looked at us from around the way. We worried that it might spook whoever was doing the meeting - but we didn't need to worry. Suddenly three people decloaked from being invisible. They wore Mandalorian armor - two sets of blue armor and one red.

"Where's Malvey?" one of them asked.

"He's gone," I said. I pulled my training saber and pointed it at him.

"This is a bad joke, right?" he asked.

Darth Maul appeared from invisibility right behind the other two Mandalorians.

"No," Darth Maul said. "Not a joke."

"Maul!" a Mandalorian yelled.

The three Mandalorians grabbed vibroswords and attacked with such lightning speed and ferocity that I worried that we might lose. I had never seen someone attack with such power. They had clearly trained for years in the most inhospitable of conditions to become the perfect warriors. I slammed back the first few blows and slammed my blade into a warrior's side. He didn't stop, just knocked my training blade away and continued attacking. He kicked me and tripped me with his leg, and I fell to the ground. I looked around.

Lilene was on the ground, bleeding. The Mandalorian in red was fighting Darth Maul and losing but hadn't completely lost yet. The other Mandalorian was fighting Ariana and winning. I tried to deflect several blows from the Mandalorian, but he was faster and stronger than me. I was taught that the force gave me the strength and speed to be vastly superior to any non-force user. I was wrong - these people were my superior in every way.

Bam. I was one half of one second slow blocking, and the Mandalorian on top of me stabbed me in the lung with his vibrosword. I couldn't breathe, trying desperately to gain the oxygen necessary to continue the fight, and couldn't do it. The Mandalorian punched me in the head, repeatedly. I looked at the rest of the battlefield.

Lilene was down. She looked at me, rage in her eyes. She hadn't wanted to lose this fight and couldn't forgive herself for losing it. She tried to channel force lightning but couldn't - they had the willpower to resist such attacks. She collapsed and lay there. I felt myself being dragged by a Mandalorian's droid onto a dropship. So was Lilene. Ariana and Darth Maul fought valiantly, killing one of the Mandalorians, but we were dragged onto the dropship and then the other two Mandalorians left and got away from them with a pulse grenade that prevented them from following the Mandalorians into the dropship. The doors closed and the ship began to rise into orbit above the planet of Korriban. We were prisoners.

I sat there. "Am I a slave?" I asked.

"No," the Mandalorian said. "We are honorable. We don't own slaves."

"What are my rights?" I asked.

"None," he said. "You are nothing. You lost combat but didn't die. You have no honor. You are beneath us."

"And me?" Lilene asked. "What do you do with me?"

"You both go to be interrogated," he said. "The boss will want to talk to you aboard his ship, Slave I."

"Oh," I said. "Cool name for a ship, for someone who doesn't own slaves."

"Yeah," he said.

We rode in a spaceship until it was leaving orbit around Korriban.

"Access codes," someone said on the comms.

"94-161," the Mandalorian said.

"Confirmed," the person said on the comms. "Have a pleasant flight. Goodbye from Korriban."

We left the area around Korriban and were taken to a capital ship, a mercenary capital ship that had weapons like crazy and was painted garishly with paintings of victims being murdered by psychopaths. We were dragged to an open landing area and taken to a series of cells with about a dozen other people. There were half a dozen wookies, three twi'leks, and the rest were humans. I sat there as they put a collar on me. I sat there, with a collar.

"You leave this cell, the collar kills you," a droid said. "You understand?"

I nodded. "I understand."

"You sit here. Dinner twice a day, morning and night. Other than that, you sit there, doing nothing. You understand?"

I nodded.

"The boss might talk to you, might not talk to you. Understand? You wait for the boss, who might never need you."

I nodded.

"Good," he said. "A docile one. We need more of you. And fewer wookies."

I sat there, in the cell, for fifteen minutes, before getting bored. I reached out with the force, felt the collar around my throat, felt the mechanics of the collar. I gave myself a force field to contain any and all damage done by said collar and then tried to snap off the collar with the force. It worked - the collar snapped off and fell to the ground. One of the wookies moved in front of me so the droids couldn't see me and gestured at his friend.

I removed everyone's collars, one at a time, and carefully. Then, when all of our collars had been removed, I opened the doors to the cell with the force. I then ran towards the weapons only to see the wookies rend the guard droids limb from limb and cheer and motion for me to follow them. I got my datapad back and turned on the translation program.

"Where will we go?" I asked.

"Follow us to Kashyyk," one said. "We will get you a ride wherever you want from there. We need your help, stopping the people who hurt us on Kashyyk. Will you help us?"

I nodded. "Let's go." I turned to Lilene. "Are we going?"

She smiled and nodded. "Let's go."

We ran into the area where the spaceships were docked. There were half a dozen guards. I had acquired a vibroblade and stabbed one of the guards in the chest, watching him die. I thought that was the first time that I had killed an intelligent sentient being. I felt a deep pain of regret that I had to do that. I charged towards the next guard. He pulled a blaster, but I knocked it out of his hand and onto the ground with the force. Then I chopped his hand off when he went for the blaster. He screamed and turned to run away. A wookie ripped his head off and gestured for us to go to their ship, a circular shaped freighter that looked ancient but well-kept. I walked onto the ship with everyone else and then sat in the copilot's chair. They began to fly away from the mercenary capital ship.
