Chapter 1
On the boundaries of Bree a ranger, named Strider was directing four hobbits of which one of them was the Bearer of the One Ring, to Rivendell.
It had been midday and they had been walking amid the trees and hedges, away from the Road when abruptly, 4 people appeared out of nowhere and collapsed in front of Strider.
Instantly, Strider unsheathed his sword and directed it at the intruders. The group consisted of two women and two men. The head of the group, who was undoubtedly the raven-haired girl at the front, stood up and pointed something similar to a stick towards the Ranger. The girl's hair which covered her face was thick and curly. The girl moved her hair from her face to show a beatiful heart-shaped face with pure emerald eyes.
As Strider and the woman got a proper glimpse at each other, their weapons clattered to the ground in shock.
Timidly, but hopefully, the raven-haired girl said, "Estel?"
And Strider replied, his voice no more than a whisper, "Anima?"
The next moment, both of them rushed forward and wrapped each other in an embrace and started to kiss each other as if their lives depended on it, oblivious to the audience that were staring at them.
Now, for you to understand this story, we must first have a peak in the past.
*Flashback*
Fourteenth of July, 1995
Astra Titania Potter was bored out of her head. She was staying in the Dursleys' home since it was summer break and the Dursleys wanted nothing to with her since the time she had revealed that her godfather was an escaped convict. Currently, she was locked up in her room with nothing but her wand. Her Hogwarts trunk was locked down in the cupboard under the stairs and she had sent Hedwig to the Weasleys' house thinking that it would not do for Hedwig to be locked up in a cage all summer. Furthermore, even Ron and Hermione were not sending any letters.
It was already 8 o'clock in the night and she had still not received her dinner.
Suddenly her room door banged open and Aunt Petunia came barging into the room. She pulled Astra by the hair and said, "We are going to the cinemas and won't be back by 11. Your dinner is on the dining table. Even if one thing is out of place when we come back you will receive no meals for a week." Saying this she left the room with a bang.
A few moments later, Astra could hear the car engine revving and moving away from her as it faded into nothingness.
She immediately jumped from her bed and ran down the stairs into the dining room. When she reached the dining table, she saw a plate with two pieces of toast on it. She grabbed the plate and then started to eat the food with a speed that rivalled Ron. She emptied the plate, washed it and withdrew to her room.
While she had been eating it had started to rain heavily. Suddenly, the lights flickered and went off. 'Great,' she thought sarcastically. 'Of all the days the power had to go off today. The one day I would have been able to watch the television.'
She sat silently on her bed staring outside the window.
It was in times like this that she desperately wished to do magic. She had half a mind to take the Knight Bus to the Weasleys' house but relented as she remembered that Voldemort was back and was desperately trying to kill her.
Abruptly, a bright flash of light interrupted her musings. She closed her eyes as she could not bear the intensity of the light. She slowly opened her eyes as the light subsided a bit.
She was startled to see the most beautiful woman, no, angel standing in front of her. Astra gawked at her.
She wanted to ask the being, 'What are you?' but settled for "Who are you?" since the former sounded a bit rude.
The angel seemed to consider Astra for a moment and then answered, "I am Estë, one of the Valar. I have come to offer you an opportunity to let live in peace, in a place where there is no war-at least for a few years."
Astra was momentarily confused, 'Valar? What is the Valar?' "The Valar are gods that take care of Middle-Earth." said the angel, Estë as if reading her thoughts.
"Middle-Earth? What is Middle-Earth?" asked Astra. Estë replied, "Middle-Earth is another world in another dimension which is just like Earth but more medieval."
Astra nodded and fell into silence. She then remembered her previous comment and said, "What is that previous opportunity to live in peace that you mentioned? Why are you doing this to me?"
"I discussed with Manwë, our king and he has agreed to let you live in Middle-Earth. You will be living in the House of Lord Elrond of Rivendell if you take up on my offer. I feel heartbroken when I reflect upon all the sacrifices you have made. So I am giving you a chance to go and live in a place where there is no war and only happiness. A chance to live in a place-if only for a few years- where you will be loved and taken care of. Do you consent to this?" Estë replied with a sigh.
Astra couldn't believe her ears! Living in a place where she will be loved and taken care of!
She quickly replied, "Yes I am okay with that. But what about my friends, the Weasleys and Professor Dumbledore? Won't they search for me?"
Estë said, "Don't worry my child. You will be staying in Middle-Earth only for a few years-how many I will not say yet. But when your stay in Middle-Earth is over, you will be returning to the exact moment you left with all your memories intact. Now, are you ready to travel?"
Astra nodded and confidently replied, "Yes, I am. Take me to Middle-Earth."
