Day 120

"Where the hell are we, Danny?" Eddie asked, a little annoyed as she crossed her arms over her chest, sitting in the passenger's seat. Her brother-in-law had pretty much kidnapped her after family dinner, putting her in the car and driving off, avoiding answering her questions as they made the almost three hour journey to their destination.

"Trust me," he finally said, flashing a smile over at her as he pulled into an abandoned gas station. "You're gonna love this."

"We're out in the middle of nowhere," she responded matter of factly. "I don't think there's anything out here that I'm gonna love."

He finally parked the car and quickly glanced in the rear view mirror. "I know it's tough with Jamie being gone," he said, turning toward her. "And trust me, in the times I've gotten to talk to him, he sounds as miserable as you are. So, I pulled a few strings..."

He got out of the car and went over to her side, helping her out and shutting the door behind them. He glanced around then gently rushed her forward toward the gas station. They got to the entrance and Danny gave her a gentle shove, pushing her inside.

"Go. You have twenty minutes."

She looked back at him confused, "Wait, what?"

"Go!" he said again.

She turned and slowly walked forward, glancing around cautiously.

"Hello?" she called out.

After a few long seconds, she heard footsteps and a familiar voice call out to her.

"Hey Ed."

She looked up and flashed a wide smile as she saw Jamie standing at the other end of the empty building. His frame looked a little smaller, his eyes were a little more tired and he'd grown a beard but he was still her Jamie.

They quickly walked toward each other, meeting halfway, with Jamie scooping her up in his arms.

"I've missed you so much," he whispered as he held her. She simply nodded in agreement, knowing that she'd break down if she attempted to say anything.

He put her back down and grabbed the sides of her face, pulling her close for a long kiss. They stayed connected until they absolutely needed to break apart for air, letting go and wrapping their arms around each other for a hug.

They didn't say anything for a few minutes and just relished in each other's closeness. She finally looked up at him and let out a soft chuckle, gently scratching the sides of his face.

"I can't believe you actually grew a beard," she said.

"You like it? I was thinking about keeping it when I go home too," he joked.

"If I'm being completely honest, I wouldn't mind it," she replied.

He kissed the top of her head. "Then it's settled. I'm keeping it."

"I didn't know how much longer I could go without seeing you," she said gently.

"Me too," he responded. "I missed you so damn much, Eddie."

"Who gave the okay for this?" she asked. "Isn't this risky?"

"Danny set it all up," he explained. "He told me last night when I had my check in with him. And it is risky so that's why we met here. But don't worry, everything's fine. The guys think that I just went for a long drive."

She sighed happily and squeezed her arms tighter around him, "Good."

"How've you been? Have you been sleeping okay?" he asked. "I know when we talked a few weeks ago, you said that you were having a hard time."

"It hasn't gotten any better," she admitted. "You know I don't do okay sleeping without you."

"I know. I don't do okay sleeping without you either."

"Promise me that this is going to be over soon," she whispered. "It's been so long, Jamie. The holidays are coming up. I don't want to spend them without you."

"Well... you might have to, babe," he said truthfully, rubbing circles on her back. "I wish I could say that I'll be home by that time but I don't want to lie to you. I've never done that and I'm not going to start now."

She nodded, taking a deep shaky breath. A part of her wanted to pull him out of there and take him home with her and Danny but she knew that he would want to see this operation all the way through. This is one of the things she had to make peace with once they agreed for him to do this, they really didn't know how long it was going to take. It killed her to be away from him but this was one of the sacrifices they had to make in their line of work.

"I'm sorry, Eddie," he said sadly, leaning down and pressing his nose into her hair.

"You don't have anything to be sorry about," she reassured him.

"Five minutes!" Danny shouted from outside.

There was a few minutes of comfortable silence with one another before Jamie nudged her to get her attention.

"After all of this is over, we're going to take a few weeks to get away," he promised. "Wherever you want to go, we'll go."

She looked up with a mischievous glint in her eyes, giving him a smirk.

"We're gonna have a lot of catching up to do, Mr. Reagan," she said with a low, sultry voice.

He chuckled, "We sure do. And it'll be worth it the wait."

They leaned in for one last kiss, pressing tightly against one another knowing that it would be the last time they would be able to be that close for awhile.

"I love you, Ed," he whispered as they pulled away from each other. "Never forget that."

"I know. I love you, too," she replied, kissing him again for good measure. "Stay safe, okay? Call me when you can. Even if it's the middle of night, you know I'll answer."

He nodded firmly, "I will. You be safe, too. If you need anything, call Danny and he'll take care of it." He pulled her to him and hugged her one last time. "Go. I think he's waiting on you in the car. Be safe getting back."

"I will." She started walking toward the entrance of the building then stopped, turning back to glance at him one last time.

"Bye babe," she called out with a wavering sigh.

"Bye honey."

She turned and quickly walked out to the car, jumping in and barely getting the door shut as Danny sped off.
