The Last Two Years
Summary: "Dear Diary, the last two years have been wonderful, and so much has changed. Don't believe me? Let me take you on a journey so you can see what everyone's been up to."
Disclaimer: I own Angel, Serena, Alamea, Dominic, and Corban (whether mentioned or not). Nana and Tanya belong to MarionetteJ2X. Anyone else belongs to Craig Gerber.
A/N: Welcome to my final season! As mentioned at the end of "Segue," there are only five stories in this season. Some are one shot stories, and some are longer chapter stories, especially "Enchancian Expedition." Either way, these are my final five stories before I have to stop writing for a while. With the start of my doctoral program, I'll need to be extremely focused and therefore absent from the platform for a while. I do still have the out of season stories I'll tackle later on, but I have no specific date or timeline for them, so we'll see on those. Anyway! I hope you enjoy!
*Story*
Dear Diary,
The last two years have been wonderful, and so much has changed. Don't believe me? Let me take you on a journey so you can see what everyone's been up to.
Firstly… Happy New Year! This is the first year I've been away from my family during the festive seasons. I didn't even go home during Wassailia, which earned me a strongly worded letter from Mum. Granted, she understands why I wasn't home, but still…
Oh, I suppose now is when I should start some real updates. After all, it has been two years since I last wrote here, or just over two years, I suppose. The last time was when Sofia gave birth to my cousin Serena, who is just as adorable as she can be. She looks a lot like Uncle Ceddy: wavy black hair with those same lighter hair pieces that could be considered 'bangs.' Hers are natural, though, unlike mine, which is funny since Uncle Ceddy's hair was a total accident, as everyone knows.
Anyway, Serena just turned two years old about a month and a half ago. When I left Enchancia, she was just starting to speak a bit more, and get this: she has Uncle Ceddy's accent! It is by far the sweetest thing, and I think both he and Sofia think the same. Now, you may be thinking: 'Well, what did she get from Sofia, then?' Her eyes, for certain. They're the same brilliant shade of blue as my dear auntie's (don't tell her I called her that; she always gets so flustered when I do). She also got her brave spirit, her ability to charm just about anyone, and her positive nature. If someone's down, she just has to cheer them up by smiling at them, or—as in the case of Nana—offering them a cookie.
Oh, speaking of Nana! She's grown! I mean, she's always been aging, but she has finally started growing physically as well. It was so strange: it just happened at the most random of times. She's about a foot shorter than Tanya now, who has also grown. They're also both pre-teens, meaning more 'fun' for my poor aunt and uncle, but they've actually been relatively fine. I suppose it's due to their darker backgrounds influenced by the lighter side of things, but I could be wrong. Anyway…
Mum and Papa Nigel (he earned that title after all the things he's done for me the last few years, including helping me move and giving me generally good advice) got married last year, believe it or not. Funny thing? They eloped and didn't tell anyone! Well, except me… I was actually perfectly fine with it, because I had a feeling it would happen eventually. He's a far better father figure than that other bottom-dwelling peon who dared to share my DNA. I'll take Nigel over Caledon any day.
Let's see… The kids are growing up, as I said. Oh! James and Vivian got married early last year, and she's supposed to have a baby in March. It was hilarious; James fainted when she first told him the news, and he's been more nervous than any of the other fathers, which is interesting, considering he sees himself as this calm, collected, and rather together guy. He's fussed over her and protected her like his most precious treasure all throughout the pregnancy. I know because Amber wrote me not too long ago, seeming rather amused by the whole thing.
King Roland and Queen Miranda have announced that they will be stepping down later this year, and Amber is to ascend to the throne with Desmond by her side. Which…kind of leads me to…well, me.
I'm in Reimagia right now. I finished my studies and internship with Headmaster Zeldon, who couldn't have been a better mentor for me. I've been living in Reimagia since the end of last summer, and I'm in training to be a full-fledged sorceress. Granted, I'm endowed with my rights as a naturally gifted magic wielder, thanks to my lineage, but it's a rite of passage for any sorcerer and sorceress. Just like Sofia did a number of years ago now… Oh, and fun fact: I'm housed in the Grand Cupola, the same place she and Uncle Ceddy stayed when she was in training. I live with a girl named Yasmina. I hate her. I'm kidding; she's great. She makes some of the best food too! Thank goodness; I'm nothing short of a terrible cook sometimes, so I'd probably starve on my own. Ha.
Oh, and Angel… Angel is currently living with Nakamo while I'm in training, and he's training himself to become a Royal Shaman. Amber has agreed to instate him officially when she ascends to the throne, and quite honestly, the both of us couldn't be more excited. It'll be fun to work with my fiancé.
Did I forget to mention that? Angel proposed! Last summer before I left, he promised me that when we both finished our training and returned to Enchancia, after things have settled down and we're in our new positions, we'll marry. I'm thinking perhaps next year would be best. Hopefully sometime in the spring, when it's not too hot or too cold. Or maybe I'll be like my Uncle Ceddy and opt for the eloping choice (even though he didn't take it). Honestly, given Angel's quiet nature, I'm sure he wouldn't mind… We'll see.
In any case, that's sort of what's been going on the last few years. Everyone's wonderful. There have been no attacks or evil doers present, much to our surprise and delight. Fingers crossed that it remains that way. I'm sure I'll think of other updates later, but for right now… That's pretty much it!
Perhaps I'll revisit this in another two years with more updates. I suppose we'll see. Till then!
Calista the Charismatic
Calista sighed as she placed her pen down before reading over her diary entry. She smiled as she caught sight of her ring as it sparkled under the sunlight. The band was a multicolored opal coating, and the stone was a white diamond. She learned that Angel had worked with someone from a nearby village for the past year to make it for her, and she couldn't be happier. It wasn't perfect, as it was hand-crafted, but it was hers, and she loved it.
She yawned as she leaned back in her chair, closing her eyes, a smile spreading across her face. The last two years had been great—truly great. Maybe that would continue, and life would be good to her.
"Calista, come get your lunch!"
She giggled as she hopped up from her chair, hurrying down the stairs toward the kitchen. As she did, the sparkle of her ring catching her eye again, she had one lingering thought on her mind:
Yeah… Life was good. As far as she could see, things could only get better from here on out.
The end
