Akira Kurusu had always been an odd child.
There had been a kind of… distance, between him and everyone else, even when he was very young. It wasn't due to any actions on his part, rather, there was always something about the quiet, almost introspective boy that had seemed slightly unnerving to the average person.
He would often stare at a random point in space, looking like there were interesting things only he could see, and he always had the same attitude, as if he was burdened with something unnatural weighing on his shoulders. Something that was unique to him, that only he could understand and feel.
The other children were unsettled, and adults felt put off. The fact that the boy's parents were almost always working abroad and left him living alone only seemed to worsen that aura Akira gave off.
And so, when the friendless teenager who sat quietly in the middle of class was convicted of assault, almost nobody was surprised; instead, there was a slight feeling of released tension in the area, like it was just expected that one day, the strange boy would snap.
However, the truth of the matter was quite different. The reason that this one Akira Kurusu was so different from the other children, so withdrawn, quiet, and unnerving, was simple.
He could see something that no one else could. Something that was unique to him, something that let him do incredible things, and made him unique.
But that something had also isolated him.
No other child could ever truly understand him, not really. So he never made an effort to fight against the rumors and whispers about his unsettling nature and why he was so… different.
From the day he was born, and from the day he first awakened this power of his, the boy had been set apart from the ordinary people around him.
After all, Akira Kurusu was born with a Stand.
