Author Notes: Hello again, everyone! Here's another bit of fluff on our two favourite boys. Enjoy :)
Summary: It is WKX's turn to admire his beloved in the glow of moonlight.
- Story Start -
Wen KeXing, Zhou ZiShu and Zhang ChengLing had been working hard to restore Four Seasons Manor and felt - well, KeXing felt - they all deserved some downtime.
ZiShu had given ChengLing some pocket money and told him to take the rest of the day off in the nearest town, but not go further than that. KeXing had quickly added that he should only return after dark and make appropriate noises to announce his return lest he saw or heard anything he didn't want to see or hear.
At which point, his darling A-Xu had turned the most delectable shade of pink and pinched him in the arm - hard. Ahh, poor KeXing was forever being bullied by his soulmate!
After ChengLing left with a rather impertinent roll of his eyes, the two enjoyed a lazy day which started with a delicious lunch cooked by yours truly, accompanied by two bottles of excellent wine also procured by yours truly, followed by an excellent few hours spent in bed.

KeXing roused from slumber to find their bedroom shrouded in dusk. He blinked, disoriented, before he remembered why he was feeling so contented and smiled, suffused with love and gratitude.
A moonbeam slipped inside the window and broadened, casting shadows. KeXing rose up onto one elbow, propping his cheek on his fist and paying no mind to the blankets slipping off his body. He waited for the moment the moonlight would reach their bed and pay gentle homage to his sleeping soulmate. ZiShu was a quiet sleeper, even when lying on his back like he was now.
A soft sigh borne of wistfulness, happiness and humility left KeXing's lips.
How had it come to this?
His plans were finally in place. Plans he had laboured over for years, plans he had jealously guarded and sacrificed much to see to fruition. He had existed for so many years with nothing but revenge in his heart and winter in his soul.
Falling for a famous assassin whose prickly demeanour hid a gentle heart and honorable nature was never part of the plan.
Yet almost from the first moment he set eyes on Zhou ZiShu, even before he saw the famed swift moving steps in action thanks to A-Xiang, KeXing knew he had met his match. He couldn't not stay away from the man after that despite the continuous cold shoulders, off-putting words and indifferent looks. He knew, he just knew that under that unflattering disguise lay a man who was beautiful inside and out.
Like everything else he did, KeXing put his whole heart into pursuing 'Zhou Xu' - following him wherever he went, sticking close to his side, extending assistance when required and flirting with him when not. Like droplets of water falling on a stone, he could see his persistence slowly wearing down the shell his A-Xu put up. He could see annoyed exasperation softening and turning into reluctant regard and then genuine feelings.
When they admired the Four Sages of Anji - KeXing quickly pushed down the pang that surfaced - ZiShu had glanced at him when he spoke of soulmates; that soft, wondering smile of his saying so much more than words. KeXing had smiled back, recognising it for a moment that needed no words. He couldn't have quoted anything at that moment anyway, feeling like he was nothing more than a puddle of goo on the inside.
How could he leave ZiShu's side after knowing that?
How could he leave ZiShu's side after knowing he only had a couple of years before his self-inflicted torment killed him?
How could he leave ZiShu at all?
If he wasn't already in love with him, KeXing knew he would fall for him every single day for the rest of their lives.
By now, the full moon outside had risen just high enough for her glow to reach their bed, the perfect illumination with which to admire his dearest A-Xu, delicate features rendered ethereal in moonlight, neck and shoulders like ivory.
Lifting his free hand, KeXing trailed a fingertip along a high cheekbone, smiling when his beloved stirred at the butterfly touch, his breath lightening, an answering smile touching his lips.
"I wake, and moonbeams play around my bed,"* KeXing murmured.
Eyes still heavy with sleep fluttered open.
"Glittering like hoar-frost to my wandering eyes," ZiShu continued with soft voice and softer eyes.
"Up towards the glorious moon I raised my head," KeXing said, voice hitching a bit as his finger traced the sweet curve of that mouth.
"Then lay me down — and thoughts of home arise," ZiShu finished the line line, lips puckering to kiss his fingertip.
KeXing's smile widened as he bent over him.
"That's my A-Xu," he said and kissed those smiling lips.
